Advice for Insanity?
I just started Insanity yesterday, and I did workout for today and I'm dead! It is the most intense workout I have ever done, and I'm looking to tone up abs. During the exercises I have to stop 1-2 times, and sometimes muscles can't handle it. Has this happened to anyone? I'm not overweight, and I'm not that out shape. I'm a healthy active women, yet I feel like I'm having extreme difficulties with this. I'm going to stick with the program, just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to get through an entire exercise without breaking. Thanks!
Re: Advice for Insanity?
Well I've never done that programme, but you may possibly be working at a faster intensity than you're used to.
So maybe you might benefit from reducing the pace of your activity a little, if it's one of those things that is based on certain exercises, done as frequently as possible over a certain timeframe, I.E. X number of burpees in a minute, or that sort of mentality, as opposed to 10 repetitions of X followed by 10 repetitions of Y, because if you're trying to cram too many repetitions of something into a small period of time as you can, you may be overtaxing yourself reletive to current levels of fitness.
That's not to say if you were doing 50 repetitions of something in a minute you should only do 20 repetitions, but perhaps working at a 40 per minute pace and going that quickly would be better, then a few weeks later when base fitness has elevated to some extent, then start gunning for a more packed workout, by trying to get more repetitions per move into the mix.
If the programme works on this kind of approach and I admit to not knowing whether it does or not, then perhaps what I suggested might yield benefit for you.
The other alternative is to stick with it in the same way you have been up until now and see how your body adapts. You may not be drastically unfit, but with time the body may become enhanced fitness wise, making rest breaks fewer or none at all.
Maybe some of what I said makes sense or has relevance

Use a different program, I hurt myself doing it and since starting other body weight training have found better results.
I personally like this program http://www.marklauren.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Advice for Insanity?
I love the intensity of insanity! I got hurt 4 times doing it and almost threw up twice with the fit test… LOL I had moments.
First off…. IT IS HARD but doable… I would work way up. The people who are working out in the DVD have been doing it for a while and even they were dying… so I say… STOP if you have to… Slow your pace if you have to but slowly push yourself to the next level… You have time to work your way up. The first 30 days of the workout will be 45mins but the next 30days it will be about 60mins… so trust me, work your way up and even if you take breaks it’s fine as long as you are working out and continuing the program!
knee was already hurting from cardio kick boxing and the intensity of Insanity did not help so I had to stop. Also, from one of the high knee jump where you slap your knees… I land down wrong and hurt lower back for days!!! I couldn’t go to work and I had to call in sick.
LOL… husband did a Hybrid version of Insanity and P90X. If you Google it, they have a workout routine for you. husband didn’t want to only do cardio he wanted to do some weights so this is good for people who wants both weights and cardio.
Good Luck!

You sound like you are doing great! I finished Insanity last year and I can remember just stopping and catching breath in every session. It's tough, but it's FEELS real good after you finish it. Just let the video roll, stretch, and keep moving. Good luck!spiritedsoul wrote:I just started Insanity yesterday, and I did workout for today and I'm dead!
