You'll probably find you can target those areas quite easily doing squat and lunge variations that's all. You could experiment with squat variations like the 10-2 foot positoon and / or Sumo style squats if your lower body would be steady enough for sumos.

You might find you can hit the adductors, abductors and pectineus without too much issue.

Sumo squats with no weight I can now do, but having issues with balance for lunges. tightness throughout calves and hamstrings is also something I am trying to work on through stretching but it is slow going. Thanks for the advice Bossman!!

Keep testing yourself on the squats every time then. Even if you can only handle something like a small freebar weighing 5kg or 10kg, try that for a couple of reps and if not stay off it, as you'll know after a couple of reps if it feels okay.

If it does feel okay, go a bit heavier on the next set or session and if that feels funny stay with the lighter bar, but see if you're good for a bit more each time, because if you just say I can do something bodyweighted right now, you may just stick to the same thing for weeks inhibiting progress.

The idea being to try and find a tolerance level each time and work within it, becaue you won't cause a serious issue if you do a couple of reps with slightly more than you can handle, it's only if you try to do 6-10 reps with twice what you can take, you might cause a big problem.

I am trying to get to 3 sets of 20 reps for the sumo squats without weight (managed 3 x15) then I want to try some light dumbbells and see if I can balance them for the squats. The lunges are being tested by physio every few weeks, I still need to hang onto something on each side and still fall if I go to a full lunge (knee on the ground or an inch above), the muscles are having issues with balance in a narrow stance. They say it is the need of further tactile dependence beyond the feet because I don't fully trust vision and hearing for balance like everyone else does. It is coming along as I can deep squat now with a hand on a support bar. and I can bend to touch the floor without hand support if slowly. about 2-3 months ago I couldn't. I have no doubt I will get there. Like you said Bossman, keep testing limits!!

I appreciate it will be a slow and sometimes frustrating process, but you ARE worth the time and effort and you DO matter as a person.

Keep believing and GOOD LUCK.

As opposed to Mexico which is classed as Central America, because no North American's want to claim responsibility for it

Hell no, sure as heck the Costa Rican's and them there Nicaraguan's and the like can have Mexico, we sure as hell don't want nothin' to do with it, now we've got as much of it as we wanted in the first place; say by the way who fancies a weekend in Vegas, San Francisco or LA, seeing as how you don't need no passport to go there anymore

Well another week almost over....

New accomplishments this week...

1st.... On the recumbent bike (hate the uprights, the seats suck and cause pain in 1st 2 minutes that gets worse each minute longer you are on them)... anyway, on the recumbent bike started doing 30 second sprints with 1.5 minute slower pass ... did 7 intervals in 20 minutes!!!

2nd.... I did barbell squats! Ending week at 3x10 at 55 lbs. Damn it feels great to do them again!!

3rd.... I found out stretching the calves and shins for 5-10 min before a lengthy outdoor walk stops the "shin splint" pain I have been experiencing.

4th.... I saw family physician today and the pain on the top of right foot is normal for someone getting back to walking without aids after needing them for so long... if it swells, ice and call him, and if it just the pain, it is the tendons re-stretching and readapting to normal walking again.... given more time walking around normally and it should disappear.

5th.... I can finally touch toes straight legged again after nearly 2 years... still stiff but I can!! Slowly I am getting more flexible again.

On the still trying to get there list is... Lunges. The narrow stance is too difficult to manage any balance, even holding a rail or something it still feels unsafe... so this is something I need to definitely work on!

I am still using a cane but find I am putting less and less weight on it and in public (like the gym or daughter's Dojo) I am becoming more confident moving small distances without it.

Finally, Deadlifts are yet to be introduced. Standing upright while "dragging" a Heavy weight with me just does not feel safe at the moment... the squats are a great start and I will get there.

Cheers all, hope the weekend treats you well!

It was a reference to when those places were Mexican, before the American's claimed the lands. We're talking Davy Crockett times.

Chances of me getting Guillian Barre Syndrome again are back to 1:100 000 just like you or anyone else. Although it is highly recommended that I do not ever get a flu shot now.

sister was telling me about some illness you can get with taking the flu shot. IT's rare that get it but it can happen. I wonder if that is what she was talking about.

glad to know that your chances are the same as anyone else now!!
