omg, mini victory tonight... doing arm workout and decided.. yeah cause I'm a rebel.. to try doing a squat with 2.5 extra.. Sorry boss man ;P I didn't do too many plus legs feel completely pain free..... but!!! It felt like 5!! I know bar at home might be lighter than the machine I use at the gym.... but when I first started 5 at home was extremely difficult... and now.. 7.5 is breezy!!! like... really breezy!!! ahhhh feeling optimistic again
Fat... but optimistic lol..

Re: Am I on the right track?
Sometimes being a rebel works out in our favor
Nice work!

Re: Am I on the right track?
Often people are confused by the scale when they start weight training because they think "I am exercising.... I should lose weight" That's why I am an advocate of tape measures over scales because they tell us more important information than how much pull the Earth's gravity has on our bodies... Just think... on Jupiter you would be almost 300 pounds! On Mars you would be close to 200 pounds.... Your weight should not matter but, what it is made up of should!!
If you gained 3 pounds of muscle and lost 2 pounds of fat you would think .... damn, I gained a pound... sure you did... its a healthy pound.... but the tape measure will say you have lost an inch.... hmmmmm! think a marble as a muscle cell and a tennis ball as a fat cell..... about the same weight right? but would you rather have the 3 marbles worth on your body or the 2 tennis balls?
Ooops, there I go again... lol.
Cheers!

Re: Am I on the right track?
You are potentially adding a bit of fat while your body adjusts, as you went from around 1,200 calories per day to 2,000, so your body may initially treat some of the calories as excess if they are not srictly needed for muscle building or development, but the nutrients could be beneficial and may not contriute to excess consumption, unless one or more micronutrients in your previous calorie a day consumption, were somehow heavily ingested despite it only being 1,200 a day.
Also as stated, if you gain some muscle weight but lose less fat weight, you might consider yourself to be gaining weight. You may also gain water weight if you increase calories but increase your sodium intake as well, as excess sodium can increase blood pressure, cause water retention and edema, (fluid in te legs).
So don't be too criticial of this just yet, as your body is undergoing some adjustment.
Plus you may have been weighing at different points. I:E first thing in the morning after a toilet trip versus later in the day, when you're got waste matter and undigested food and water in the gut, contributing to a skewed reading.

Re: Am I on the right track?
Yeah I hope there is some muscle in that weight reading
its mostly gut and love handles that I'm noticing it.. but that being said since starting on higher calories I have yet to not feel full... just a constant feeling of full and just forcing myself to eat.. I only weigh myself in the morning by the same routine, before I eat.. so I think probably body is having difficulty adjusting and will adjust in sometime..I hope
:):) Thanks heaps guys

Re: Am I on the right track?
I'm sure it's probably just your body adjusting as well Jade.
Keep believing and keep persevering, because you are learning and progressing all the time and I'm proud of you and I know that you ARE doing well and you ARE worth it and I want you to remember those things and be proud of you too, because you've earned that right to feel proud

Hey lovely people! I just wanted to share this link of body.. Kind of embarrassing it's not the hottest but I love it anyways

Anyways I'm sharing because I wanted to ask, if I want to lose 5 kilos would this set me back in muscle gain? If so I wont worry atm, but I think I would like to, even if its slowly. Thanks

Re: Am I on the right track?
Looks to med everything is where it's supposed to be
Seriously though, legs look to be toning up, tummy is flattening out from having a babe, hips and waistline are still slimming back down. Legs are thin with some definition showing. upper body (shoulders/arms) are a good place to be training and I would hazard a guess on the back as well. Looking good! Keep it up girl and you will be where you want to be I am very sure!

Re: Am I on the right track?
You should be fine Jade. Gaining musle actually promotes fat loss up to a point, as 1lb of added muscle burns an extra 45-50 calories.
It's just about being patient and remembering your body is adapting to the subtle changes to your training and diet.
Don't worry about it for now and just keep working hard and keep monitoring your progress
.
Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will Jade be

Re: Am I on the right track?
That is good info there Bossman, and Chris I think you are being way to kind! hahaha.
I was extremely bad this weekend
. But back on the horse, gym tomorrow.. I'm giving myself 12 months to get body into the best shape its ever been. Although weekends like this one, It will be a distant distant dream. I had good intentions (2-3 glasses of wine) but I guess alcohol makes those good intentions seem unimportant, so no more alcohol for me.
:)
It's a fresh day tomorrow, only way is up!

Re: Am I on the right track?
lol, yes it is said alcohol should be the first to go when exercise and diet become part of your daily regime.
Re: Am I on the right track?
It's so hard not to feel like you have a stick up ya bum when everyone else is drinking..
But I really am going to cut it out of life. I thought wine could be ok but no. best friend has been told she has the liver of an alcoholic an enlarged fatty liver. If she binge drinks now or at all really she risks serocis of the liver and we all know how that goes. She's 28.
But she won't listen to me and still drinks at social events
children's grandfathers brother on their fathers side also died from serocis of the liver in his late 20's.
ex has alcoholism in his blood.
Therefore so do children.
It actually saddens me this is the society children will grow up in. Binge drinking is such common practice, but it must smash our bodies.
Anyway now that everyone's depressed after reading that... Hope you have/had a wonderful day

No worries Jade,
Lead by example and those that care will follow. What else can you do?
Hope your day is well also!!

Re: Am I on the right track?
Something you may not know.
Your body breaks down Glycogen, (stored glucose), via glycoloysis, in a process known as aerorbic respiration.
When insufficient oxygen exists, your body can create two things via anaerobic respiration.
1. Lactic acid, which you may know of, it causes "the burn".
2. Ethyl alcohol.
Effectively your body is instigating a fermentation process with the latter.
Lactic acid is eventually channelled into the liver and dissolved, but the alcohol produced would end up in the liver to be processed I would think, as that is what happens to actual alcohol consumed in the diet.
Therefore as your body is capable of making its own alcohol, you don't really need to top it up with external alcohols
