The broom between two chairs in opinion is much more effective. You actually have to lift your body up to the broom, keeping your body, legs and back straight, working your core and arms and back and legs. Whereas the resistance bands you aren't actually pulling yourself up - it looks more like a row, where your body stays stationary and you are just pulling the bands down, working your arms but nothing else. As far as effective for a pullup - go with the broom/chair combo. :D

thanks i'm going to try it and see how it goes. I don't feel the resistance bands are that effective so doesn't hurt to try. :)

Great advice, but while following the video program section of the workout, it wouldn't be feasible. But, being a Toys R Us Kid, I love it when members remind other members that park playgrounds aren't necessarily only for the little ones ;)

Broom is better choice. Or you can buy the iron gym i think its call where you place it in the doorway and basically its a pullup bar

Our p90x came witha pull up bar that goes in the doorway. That's favorite option, but it does rub on the door frame to the point of stripping paint. Just a word of caution!

You could do bent over rows as a nice upper back exercise or maybe consider getting a TRX suspension trainer. With the TRX there are a ton of back exercises you can do and you can attach it to your door.
