Question for a friend

Post by Xochi »

Since July of last year I have officially lost 54lbs. I couldn't be happier. One of female friends started working out and running with me a few months ago. She's having problems losing weight. She's concerned. She has a very toned stomach. And is considerably small for her weight. BUT she has a pretty fair ammount of lower abdominal fat. This is pretty well the only place she retains weight. And she can't lose it. Any idea why its in one location and not any others? Any advice or workouts I can give her to help her along? I know spot fat reduction is pretty well impossible..

Unfortunately that is one of the biggest trouble areas for women. It is the first place fat goes, and the last place it leaves. I would suggest adding some weights into the program, will help.

Could be related to Cortisol levels. Does she have a demanding occupation? Anything like children, inducing mild stress increases?

I say this as Cortisol when produced more than usual can lead to Abdominal Fat deposits.

We are in college and all have part time jobs. So yeah we're are stressed on a constant basis. And we have fall semester coming up so of course she is freting a great deal. Anything that could help battle the Cortisol? I've seen a few things, I don't have the problem (thank goodness) So I haven't done much research. Thanks!

well decrease stres obviously but to get fat like your saying would take a long period of time if she is still relativley young so that wouldn't be the cause although it doesn't help...i think diet is the problem and running won't help either...sprinting will though and wts obviously
