Help me to rock out with abs out, revisited

Post by Ayjona »

I'm at the end of a long and slow (but carefully planned and controlled) weight loss journey. I dropped 20 kilos over a year (was not big before, but am definitively lean now), and over the previous 4 years I have thoroughly self-educated myself in the ways of fitness, nutrition, and the physiological principles underpinning both weight loss and muscle gain. I know nearly all there is to know on how popular science feels on these subjects (knowledge not very challenging to come by, so I'm not patting own back, even though I enjoy the feel of the muscles there these days), and have some small insight into the deeper truths and wild hypotheses of obscure and esoteric fitness research and speculation.

I'm drawing close to the point where I can apply all that I have learned towards building a body of Hollywoodean proportions. But I cannot, fer the life of me, for all that time and accumulated knowledge, rid myself of the last of abdominal fat.

It might not be much, but it is enough to obscure whatever sixpackity that might already or eventually lie beneath. Nearly six months of a constant daily 500 calorie deficit, following just about every piece of advice the webbed wide world has to offer on how to retain lean tissue while dropping weight (thus hopefully pushing body towards reducing stored fat instead), but no change in weight nor visible body mass (something that completely violates the calorie out - calorie in paradigm, the gravitional pull equivalent of nutritional science).

(And yea, I eat every third hour, control what I stuff face with carefully, avoid transfats and saturated fat, as well as quick carbs and sucrose, consume proteins based on body weight, eats small amounts of them healthy fatsies, go heavy on lean sources of protein and green veggies, etc, etc, in accordance with what little advice there is that nearly everybody agrees on, and with quite a lot of advice where opinions are perhaps not as univocal. I have the nutrition-diet-food thing down as pat as any combination of reasonably coherent and globally recurring theories will allow.)

The best advice is probably just to forget all about the abdominal area, eat lots and healthy and go all out on resistance training, crossfit and HIIT, and achieve an awesome body in spite of that little bermuda triangle of flab.

But you know I'm not going to do that ;) After so many years of work, after such a slow but still exhilarating change, I have this OCDish thing going where I want that last reserve of fat gone before I can move on to things muscular and sexy, as crowning achievement, and symbol of the significance of time invested.

Might anyone here know of ways to achieve just that?

Remove 10g carbs from each meal and then repalce the carbs with fat.

You maintain calories, but create a carb deficeit that heopfully fat would fulfill, being a secondary energy source and all.

However carbs are important, so if possible stick to around 30g a meal and certainloy no less than 20g per meal, so depending on what you consume currently you may or may not be able to implement this procedure.

Another possible is to reduce, but not eliminate, grain as grain is still good for you and replace it with lower GI carbs like fruits and veggies, legumes, nuts and fungi.

I would reccomend just one of these for now, as one or the other, might not be necessary or even counterproductive possibly and by isolating one change, you can assess it's effectiveness more easily.

Hopefully all that makes sense :).
