Starting a change need advice
Hello Everyone I have decided that I needed to make a change in life, and I would like to lose 80lbs by the end of this year, and the other 20lbs by April of next year. I know I need to make this change not only for myself, but also for family. I have a wonderful husband in four beautiful children who are all very active. I hate not being able to be as active as they are. I would like someone to help me with any tips you have for you staying motivated, also if there's any advice on what I should do or what I should expect that would all be greatly appreciated. By the way I also joined the YMCA and I'm using their facilities to workout. Thank you all for your help

SimplyDeep, first step is to go through a full physical with your physician to see just exactly what your body is capable/not capable of doing. The last thing you want to do is get started on the journey to your fitness goals and be sidelined with an injury or some kind of a physiological ailment that will set you back or make you want to give up. Once you get the results of that physical/blood work, post back here to let us know if your physician has placed any limitations/restrictions and everyone will have a better idea as to where to guide you. All the best,

That does work for a lot of people, but I personally have never done it, because for me, I'd have to be reliant on the person to be there when I wanted to be and do what I wanted to do.
I could be a bit flexible, but it would not be an ideal thing for me and I have only ever trained with someone else once in nearly 14 years and he was already at the gym when I turned up and I knew him so he just tagged along and it felt a bit unusual, but it was fine.
Some people need the added motivation and accountability though and some don't. It's hourses for courses basically and if someone isn't getting the desired effort legels in then considering another person or two to tag along with, or to tag along with them, would be a sound way to look at things
