Re: Trying to eat unprocessed in a processed world
i know how you feel because i'm VERY scared about indoor tri. at least you get to do it with someone! I'm sure you will be fine.

Re: Trying to eat unprocessed in a processed world
You've no reason to feel scared in opinion; it's just in your head.
Nervous yes, but scared is a state of mind that can to a large extent overcome
.
It is after all an indoor tri, not a bungee jump out of a helicopter, so don't magnify the scale of it, micronise it and think of it as a relatively small thing, so it feels less insurmountable.
I'm sure you can do that

Re: Trying to eat unprocessed in a processed world
Tomorrow is the big day! 40 mile bike race. It's gonna be 34 degrees in the a.m. Now I know for some of friends up north that probably seems warm to you - but for us southern folk, that's COLD
Anyway, I'm excited to do it. I read something this morning that I loved it said:
"Goals: If you think you can reach it, your are probably aiming too low. Most of us set goals we are reasonably sure we can reach so as to insure we don't fail. If you really want a challenge, aim higher. Set a goal you aren't sure you can reach and try like hell to get there."
So I'm aiming high! I've never ridden 40 miles before, it's a challenging hilly course, so it will test the limits of endurance and conditioning
all I got to say is.....BRING IT!!!

I am sure you can do this.
GOOD LUCK, because you are amazing and I'm so proud of you, no matter what happens.

40 mile bike race - done!! Can not tell you how much I loved it. There were parts that were so hard I didn't know if I could do it, but just kept pushing, digging deep. The scenery was awesome. Felt strong the whole way. I am in love with bike racing - the feeling of pushing up a hill, then flying down it is addicting!!

Great job Lynne!!!! That is awesome, 40 miles is crazy! And for the record, I am from fridgid Wisconsin and you sure wouldn't catch me on a bike in 34 degrees
It's one thing to be outside in that weather, it's a completely different story to be riding a bike in it!!

Re: Trying to eat unprocessed in a processed world
Thanks guys! Yeah, it was really cold at the beginning, I wore 2 layers, and gloves, ear bands, 2 pair of socks which helped alot.
It's funny while I was actually riding and on the bike I felt fine, like I could ride forever - it was when I got off the bike at an intersection near the end of the 40 miles that legs screamed at me, quads were on fire and hammy's were tight as a drum, I could barely walk across the intersection - but I had to cause I was in the middle of traffic!
I'm sure I looked hysterically funny, sort of limping, hobbling, waddling on bike cleats across the road.
But I recovered none the worse for it. Not much leg soreness at all.
I rode 11 miles this morning, had a little soreness/pain in quads but not enough to stop me.
Already found another race....in January! 50 miler
woot!

Re: Trying to eat unprocessed in a processed world
haha Bossman! It's only 10 miles further than the one i just did - and I have 8 weeks to train for it. Piece of cake.
...guess I shouldn't mention the 100 miler I'm thinking about doing in July...
Now THAT'S crazy!!
hey, you only live once, might as well dream for it, work toward it, make it happen.

You only live once, but you only die once as well, so 100 milers eh?
