Walking!
I bought a thing that you put on you pants it calculate how many miles you walk, steps, and calories.... I am curious, if those thing are accurate...
Right now its said that I walk 2.15 mil, and 2.08 ml/h, I did 110 step per miles, I did 6824 steps, and I burn 291 calories...
How do you know if this accurate?
Its not an very expensif stuff..but I pay 20$ for it..lol..
Thanks!!!!!

Re: Walking!
is what you have a pedometer? It's probably accurage in steps and miles walked. I don't know about calories burned though. That's just very lack of knowledge point of view.

Re: Walking!
it probably would still give a decent estimate too though of calories burned. probably not totally accuarate on the calories but just an estimate.
Hey did you ever get rid of your plantar? I think quite a while ago i remember you mentioning it? Just wondering because i think i have a slight case of it too now.

Re: Walking!
congrats on the weight loss french maiden! That is awesome!
I talk to french people sometimes at job on the phone in quebec. I love their accents. I was talking to this one lady the other day and she said her name in french and i asked her to repeat it because i didn't understand so she said it again in french even though she spoke good english so again i didn't understnad. So i just asked her to spell it so i wouldn't have to ask her to repeat it. It was a simple spelling which made me feel a little dumb for asking. LOL Just a quick story for you. Never been their but i would love to travel through canada!
plantar is very minor it doesn't bother me at all except if i do a lot of walking but i also like to walk in sandals in the summer. Now i only walk in sandals if i'm planning on not walking far otherwise it's supportive shoes. I really need to stretch and ice though and i'm going to start doing it again even if it's not bothering me because your right i definitely don't want it to develop into something worse!

Pedometers are quite good interms of measuring steps, but like any such portable calorie tracking device, you have to use them as a guide only.

Well I very glad that you plater is getting better...mine was left unattended for a long long time where it went to the point that sometime I could not walk it was so bad...now its better but sometime I goes all the way up to calf...
Thank for the compliement about the weight lost...I am happy but not too happy that I regain 10 lbs...I really want to loose that because I still not into the healthy range for age and how tall I am...I would like to be around 135 or 130 but now that I sank tooth on sweet..I find it very hard to stop it...
Also what i don't understand is that us women we then to CRAVE SWEET around the time of the month...well i don't know if its everyone like that but one week before I could eat sweet all day long...its drive me nuts.... I am not sure if its cause by a chamical inbalance during that month... but it go to stop...lol..

Re: Walking!
Ok cool thanks Boss...I saw online the other its like a watch you put on your arm and it mesure lots of stuff...and then when you done exercising you plug it to your computor and it calculate everything for you...i will find the link and post if so you can tell me what you think of it...Boss Man wrote:Pedometers are quite good interms of measuring steps, but like any such portable calorie tracking device, you have to use them as a guide only.
Now that I gain again 10 bls...I am not very happy and I really want to loose this so I try to eat 1 200 daily but Its hard to keep track of everything you eat every single sting..and since I have tendency now to eat sweet its harder....
Its weird the way i think (i will take a chocolat and then say na...that ok I won't gain weight with just one...then i have an other and say well it will take a while before i show and by the time it show I will have burn the calorie off.) but its not true its just a stupid excuse....I got to stop that ....but I need a way to stop the STUPID SWEET CRAVING..I was so good for over 1 year now it went all downhill!!!!

Re: Walking!
For me, much better if you do the sprint walk training. It's much beneficial than the normal strength training.
Re: Walking!
I'd be interested to understand your reasoning for this

Re: Walking!
What is the sprit walk training?
Re: Walking!
It sounds like it's Interval or Fartlek Running.

Re: Walking!
I'm not sure how accurate these things really are. I've tried a couple including ipod mini and they always seem to be off.
Re: Walking!
Well electronic measuring devices, or machine based displays, that continuously tot up how many calories you are burning during exercise, will only ever be a guide.
As I've said before in similar ways, get up, use the toilet, have a meal, then use something like a treadmill or an exercise bike and use the caliories burned display, then do that every day with the exact same setting and duration, for about 10-14 days, using differing models and types of such machines, (I.E. wheel based versus fan based exercise bikes), not just the exact same machine every day, then keep a record of end calories burned and see how many times you get a reading, that is congruent or within a pre-defined range of acceptability I.E. 10 calories either way of the first achieved reading .
Even then, you'd never be truly sure if such things were 100% accurate, 95% accurate or a long way off and in the case of the latter, comparing the readings versus less consistent readings, that could then be deemed in another stratosphere
These things will only ever be a guide, whereas something like pedometers are better. I used one or two once for test purposes, not because I really wanted one, but more for curiosity reasons and in both instances, after counting a fixed number of steps in head whilst taking them, both devices nailed it, when I stopped to take a check.
So I conclude these things can be more accurate, because you can measure the steps yourself for a comparison against the device, as opposed to actually physically seeing calories burn before your eyes which is impossible, without potentially some kind of clever sciency electronic test, that I doubt exists yet; so then your electronic calorie burning display seems like a pot luck scenario.
Though it would probably be cool to some people, if you could physically see a calorie burning, on some kind of thermal or infrared monitor
