One of favorite exercises to do when training core and abs is a plank. This video shows a rep set using your abs to get you into a plank position on a stability ball thats great to throw in between your regular core workouts. Your holds can last as long as you want to maximize your workout but for beginners I recommended a 10 second hold for about 12 to 15 reps for 3 sets.

Love these exercises! I used to hate them, but they are some of the best things you can do, especially if you have back problems like I do. I used to be a heavy lifter, but since I hurt back all of work outs are core-centric, and I have never been in better shape in life. I am actually running first marathon next month.

A back injury can be a major set back but I am glad you are doing all you can to stay in shape. Congrats on the marathon keep us updated!!
