Thanks Swanso5, I belong to a gym so I do a variety of excercises. Today I did legs and I increased the weight by 5 pounds for each leg (if the excercise involves working both legs simultaneously, i increased the total weight by 10 pounds and I reduced the number of reps by approximately half (that ...

Thank you for reply sammiller.

Snorkles, high-low weight is specific to the individual, it's your level of excertion. High weight would be something you can barely lift on the last rep. and low weight would be something where you could do another set. I hope it makes sense.

Hi reps vs. low reps

I am a little confused about the different effect of higher reps with lighter weight and few reps with higher weigh. Is "few reps higher weight" routine better for gaining weight or bulking up? What about "high rep lighter weight" routine? What's the benefit to that? Which one bu...

I have been mixing it with yogurt... I know it's a little unconventional but it works for the variety. I use plain nonfat yogurt and sometimes even add berries. I am also find the taste of protein powder mixed with water a little nasty so I typically mix it with milk but I also tried cold coffee. It...

I heard that if you are always working out after having a snack, your body gets used to it and it's OK to do a few workouts on an empty stomach and you will actually burn more calories because the body is "conditioned" to burn calories. It's the same principle as muscle confusion, shocking...

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize that you don't burn fat during the workout.

After the pre-workout meal is burned off (which I can easily do within 20 min of workout) and I continue to workout for another 60 min alternating cardio with weights, does the body use 1) muscle 2)Glycogen and 3)Fat stores? Did I misunderstand your response? Why do bodybuilders limit the amount of ...

Burning fat vs. muscle for energy

Hi, I am new here but I am not new to excercise and weight loss. ultimate goal is to lose weight but I also want to build muscle mass to increase basal metabolism. I know there is a delicate balance between the amount of cardio you do before it interferes with muscle retention. I know that cardio bu...
