Time between sets

What do you think the ideal amount of time should be between each set?

Does it matter how intense the weights are?

OK, so if I did:

one set of decline press, 6 reps
one set of bench press 6 reps
and one set of incline press, 6 reps

at the highest possible weight that i can handle, it would be better?

OR should i do all three sets in the exact same exercise

OR something else?

Initial Question

Hey all! I'm new to this forum, and I'm excited to start strength training today. When I'm doing exercises that seem more like stretches than anything else (ie ab exercises, for example), how many should I be doing? Should I be doing three sets and ten reps like I do when I'm lifting weights? Thanks...
