compound lifts and bodyweight exercises. Take your pick which ones, as long as your routine is balanced.

Start Bodyweight
After 6 months of stronglifts, I've been focussing on bodyweight strength training, and following the Start Bodyweight program. It's taken me from about six -not ideal form- pull ups to first muscle up, and first one leg squat. I got inspired by watching some barstarz bodyweight videos on youtube, a...

Re: Here is new client
To me, this sounds like the typical assignment they ask you to do for a PT course... If he really is your client, there's a bunch of information you should be gathering before you attempt to design a program: his posture, his flexibility and strength level, his metrics, his level of cardiovascular f...

Any isolation exercise will work, i.e. flies, curls, tricep extensions. Rows should be fine too.

Re: Newbies in workout. Really want a tone abs :(
Well, the one thing thatis really going to make a difference is lowering your body fat percentage, so limiting your sugar intake is a great idea.
You can do all the ab exercises you want, but unless you lower your body fat, you'll just have well defined abs hidden under a layer of fat.

Re: Short workout
Strictly speaking, if you are doing tabata intervals, you are supposed to stick to the same exercise throughout.
Or at least that was the original protocol I believe.

Re: Training for a circus performer
try Start Bodyweight. It sounds just like the kind of program you're looking for if what you are after are strength gains.

Re: You Are Your Own Gym Program
I started with YAYOG, which is a good program, but switched to Start Bodyweight a few months ago, and it is in opinion far superior. I like the principle of bodyweight progressions (which make it easier to gauge improvement). I've also see much faster gains with it.

Re: Combining Pushups and Chinups
I am not aware of push ups working your lats actually.
There's a bit of overlap in the shoulders, but since these are not a prime mover, it doesn't really matter at all.
You can easily train both push ups and pull ups in the same session.

So many reps! I assume you're just working for endurance rather than for strength, correct?

Re: alternative exercise of Push-ups
Have you tried using your dumbbells as push up handles (or doing your push ups on your fists?).
This will reduce the pressure on your wrists.
