I think it is the time of year to feel a bit bummed. The holiday stress has left a lot of people drained. I am sure that when you get back on track with the diet, you will feel better, mentally as well as physically. I know after eating bad things, I feel slow and fat, which makes me depressed.fitoverforty wrote:Well I've been incognito around here for a few days....hiding in the background, chiming in on a few other threads, but avoiding own because I haven't really done anything worth posting aboutKind of gotten off track...lost focus, but am trying to regain some sense of eating/workout ethic.
Christmas was wonderful, and a good time was had by all. I partook of all the Christmas goodies and then some...and I don't regret it, but now I am kind of sick of not being on eating plan, I don't like how i have been eating - without any forethought or planning - and we all know what that leads to......BAD FOOD CHOICES!I feel heavy and sluggish - not normal self at all. So, I am glad to be "starting over" and refocusing, getting back on plan and work out schedule.
I haven't ran in a week. I did something to right foot - dropped something on it - it is swollen and bruised so I haven't done any kind of workout. It is better today - thank goodness!! Hopefully tomorrow I can run or workout.
Went to the grocery store earlier today and got downright depressed! I had noticed several folks here talking about "quinoa" so I thought I would buy it. Well, when I finally found it (on the bottom shelf on the "gluten free" aisle) it looks like birdseed and a little bag of it costs $9.12!!!![]()
Good grief! I just did not have it in the budget. I also wanted to try agave syrup for sweetener, but again I got sticker shock - $5+! It makes me sad that in order to buy healthy, you have to spend so much more. Times are pretty hard right now financially for us, and I started to understand why so many people are getting fatter...because all the bad stuff (non organic, processed, fake, etc.) is cheaper, alot cheaper.
Anyway...didn't mean to get on a rant, I did manage to buy alot of fresh produce and fruit and a big bag of frozen chicken breasts - so I am planning on making some salads, steamed and broiled veggies. I bought a big veggie tray (no...I'm not gonna eat the ranch dip that came with itbut it's killin' me!) and I plan to munch on that in the evenings, take some to work for snacks.
So, I hope everyone survived the holidays, and maybe now we can all look ahead and focus on the new year, and continuing our weight loss/fitness journeys!

holidays!
Yes, Brent you are right - I need to remember that...I think I will print it out and paste it on bathroom mirror, or on weight scales...so the next time i step on the scale and if it reads heavier at least I can look down and say "nice toe polish!" - that positive, right? LOL!! jkbrentyboy wrote:Always look for the positive, always.
You have plenty of time to build a good solid running base. You need to be consistently running at least 15 to 25 miles per week for anywhere from 3 to 6 months before you begin training. Most marathon training programs are either 16 weeks or 20 weeks long. For a first marathon I would go for the 20 week program. If you prefer, for your first one, there are some great run/walk marathon & half marathon programs - now don't think that means you are slower than the runners - the last 1/2 marathon I ran I had several groups pass me, then stop & walk so I would pass them back and get a little ahead, then they would start running again and pass me again...then walk, it was crazy! I've considered doing that program myself for first marathon. If you decide to do the Sept. one, remember that the main obstacle to overcome is having the time to train, especially in the later months when you have to run 3, 4 & 5 hours at a time. Having a running partner is best.amatlack wrote:I'm seriously considering a marathon this year. I turn 30 in August, figured it would be a good time to do it... I found the flattest marathon in the USA is in September in PA, which is the state next door to me now, so it's on.But I can't run more than like 3 miles at a time, so it's going to be some hellacious training. I hope you can help!!
well, that is just estimation. I ate about 4 or 5 bites of mashed potatos. lunch mostly consisted of the grilled pork chop and lots of grilled onion, peppers & tomatos - so it wasn't alot of food actually.Bonnie wrote:So how many bites r in a 1/4 cup ?
LOL! what..they don't have grits in Canada?Bonnie wrote:Uhh & pardon ignorance, but what exactly r grits ?
If it is not 'til September, then you have plenty of time. Mine is in April, only about 12 weeks away - I should already be running 10 milers and I'm no where near that, so I will probably go for the half m. for that race.amatlack wrote:I have to figure out the exact date of the marathon and track back to see what I can be doing!
Yes I know I didn't eat enough today...not on purpose, just haven't been to the grocery store yet.Bonnie wrote:u look like uve gone from feast to famine
