OK, I don't respond for a couple of days and I come back to this disturbing topic  That is just so wrong!!!!

So tonight I worked out for the first time in what feels like forever - and boy did I feel it!!!! I had to go to sister's after work so I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, set at random (really, they should just call it Hell instead of random, because it is always extreme!). Then I did 15 minutes on the recumbent bike. That thing is very deceiving. It doesn't feel too strenuous, but it sure gets heartrate going!

I was a bit worried about back but I fared pretty well. A couple of weeks ago I was cleaning and I got it in head that I needed to flip mattress.. myself. mattress is a king size pillow-top. And I have very low ceilings and a ceiling fan. It wasn't brightest idea ever. Well, I somehow managed to get it flipped, but back paid for it. It is still hurting (one very specific spot) but the elliptical didn't bother it.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: oatmeal with one whole egg cooked in, cinnamon and a little sugar and ff milk (I am so proud of myself, I have taken the time to make oatmeal every day for the last 4 weeks - I used to just eat cereal)

Snack: Dannon Light and Fit vanilla yogurt with 1/2 cup mixed raspberries and blueberries and a little Kashi Crunch (I tried Greek again last week but I just can't choke it down - not worth it when I gag on every bite!!!)

Lunch: polish sausage (OK, I know, not real healthy, but it was sooooo good!) with 1/2 cup brown rice and a cup of steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots

Snack: 2 slices lf cheese sticks, 1 square homemade protein bars (oh, yum, new candy bar :D :D )

Dinner: Grilled chicken breast, 1/2 cup brown rice, 1 cup mixed steamed veggies

Things should be calming down for me now, life is sort of back to normal so I should actually have time to get back to normal schedule. Thank goodness!!!!

I just plugged in calories for today and I am only getting about 1,300 - I feel like I am eating a ton! I guess I should add some to snacks.

It's kind if embarrassing because I bring an entire meal for lunch, but everyone else has a measly little sandwich or a frozen meal that is about four bites  I used to be one of those people, I can't believe that kept me full!

I got hit with a bad case of the lazies last night :| I feel like I have been absolutely non-stop for over a month now, and I just sort of crashed after work. I had planned on working out, but body just wouldn't take me there... I guess I needed a break.

Food has been great, though :) Hope everyone is having a great week!

I think I definitely needed the break mentally  Working out would have been good for the mental part, but I just couldn't do it.

I also am getting so bored, I need to do something to spice up workouts. I am up for suggestions! And joining the gym right now is out of the question - I am trying to pay off debt so budget is really limited!

how 'bout doing a Duathlon? :D A short sprint duathlon is like a 2 mile run, 10 mile bike and a 2 mile run. Or right now a big thing is doing these "warrior dash" events. They are basically doing a obstacle course with some muddy pits and trails to run on. Everyone I know that has done one can't wait to do another one - they are alot of fun! you can google "warrior dash" to find the website.
just some ideas. :D

bodyrock.tv !
That's a good suggestion. A couple people on here really like that website!! Especially until summer comes.

Have you ever tried rollerblading Joc? I use to love to rollerblade and it would be a great cross-training sport to try when not running this summer. Might have to wait for it to get warmer out for that though. :)

Thanks for the suggestions :) I will definitely have to give that bodyrock.tv a try!

Lynne, I searched for duathalons and the only thing they have in area is a triathalon in June - 1/4 mile smim, 17 mile bike, 3.1 mile run. I would LOVE to do this but bike isn't built for racing - I have a hybrid bike. And I certainly can't afford a new one!!! Although I suppose I could look into a trade-in... hmmmm, I love the idea of the triathalon, though :) And I searhed for the warrior dash - ummm, sweet! Unfortunately the nearest one is like four hours away and that would require money for travel and accomodations. Maybe when I pay off some bills - that looks amazing, I can imagine how fun it would be!! I had to laugh, the website calls it the "battleground."

Becky - I am actually terrified of roller-blading (I know, I used to jump out of planes but I am afraid of rollerblades  ). I had a terrible experience when I was younger where I practically took off the whole side of leg - ugh, I shudder at the thought!!! I am also afraid of riding bikes for this very same reason but somehow I have been able to push through that fear - but roller blades, I just can't get over it

I took Stewie for his first walk/run of the year - finally, we had a nice day where I was free to take him!!!!! We have had other nice days but I have been insanely busy and I had parent's dog for the last month. He isn't a good walker so I couldn't take them for a walk even if I had the time - but he is back home now so I finally got to take Stewie.

We went for a 3 mile walk/run and I can't even tell you how good it felt :D I forgot how much I loved running until I stepped out of the house in running shoes! I only ran about 1/4 of it because I am still a little scared about knee so I am going to take it slow right away. But one thing is clear - I LOVE RUNNING!!! I guess two things are clear - 1) I love running and 2) I need new shoes   I have three blisters already. Guess I wore them out last summer!

I took two of nephews (4 and 6) to see Hop in the theater today - I broke down and had popcorn. I just can't go to a movie and not have the popcorn. Oh, well, I have been good with meals lately so I figured I would cheat a bit.

Hope everybody is having a super weekend :D

I got a new pair of running shoes today (spent a little too much, but I figured with feet and knee issues I better not skimp on shoes). This time I actually got help and it turns out I have been buying the wrong kind of shoes for feet (which could explain a lot!). I have very high arches so I was buying the stability shoes with high arch support. It turns out those are for people who roll their feet in (pronate??? can't remember the term). I apparently needed cushioned shoes becaues of arches, plus I tend to roll feet out. So I found a pair and they are like little clouds on feet  And to top it off, they were having a buy one get one 1/2 off sale. I didn't need, nor could I afford two pairs of shoes today - but they don't have an expiration date on the get one 1/2 off part - so I can just bring in receipt the next time I need shoes and I will get them half off!!!! I think I chose the right day to get a new pair of shoes :D

That's awesome Jocelyn. The right pair of shoes can make all the difference in the world. :D And the fact that you get to buy the other pair at 1/2 price later on is equally awesome!
