hehe......I had pictured myself bulky, and 210 lbs. so its sort of weird cutting weight off, not really how I envisioned it, but it feels good. I hit 196, and it was like too much to maintain, and I know BF was up there, this seems much easier, I don't have to cram so much food in, and I get tons of comments from people, which is always a boost. The shirts come off at VB yuh know...... ahh...just the boyz, of course.... :P

Okay, I gotta ask...are you still doing your weight lifting? Are you doing more cardio? What gives? What are you eating? Good grief man, you only weigh about 20+ lbs. more than me! Now, I'm really depressed!

sorry, not trying to depress you....ahhhhh yes 2-3 fb workouts a week, with VB for cardio, though I haven't played for a couple of weeks. Wakeboarding I'm sure burns some calories, though I've only done that twice. I think mostly its diet, waist is -35" legs are still 23", arms 15.5 so I haven't lost alot of size. I weigh myself everyday, and stick to Kashi, chicken, beef, veggies, fruit, nuts, water, a little bread, oikos yogurt, protein powder, no sugar really, no butter, if I eat pizza I'll show +2 lbs. the next day, almost everytime, so I avoid that. So I think its 90% what I eat, and the FB workouts that have done it. I really try to push during the workouts, to really put body under physical stress. It's to the point now, I can pretty much tell which way weight will go depending on what I eat, and how much activity in day.

It is great that you have tuned in to what works best for your body. I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. When i started here I was more about weights, over the last 6 months it has evolved more into about running. I have an arm injury that has been very stubborn about getting well, and it limits strength workouts, so I focus more now on first love - running.
How is Barbie doing on her exercise and weight loss en devours? I thought I remember you saying she was running with a friend in the neighborhood?

You keep trying different things, and eventuall you'll figure out your formula. I analyze what I eat, and I think the old adage is true "you can't out train a bad diet. Not saying you have a bad diet, but its what I look closest at. Injuries are a pain, I've had little set backs, but have been able to work around them, and keep lifting. I'm thankful for that as a major injury could shut you down from working a whole are. Glad to hear the running is working out, and it sure is a bonus that you love it.
Barbie is good, she flutters between low and upper 150's on her weight (ahhhh am I sposed to say that?) she doesn't believe in the lift weights/lose fat concept, she will run on the elliptical for an hour, something like 9 miles, and is dying to hit 140's but it doesn't happen. She was extra busy this week, as she teaches a class in VBS. She gets mad at me for losing weight, and says its because I'm a man...... :) Her diet is not very strict either.

very true. I think that is what hinders so many people from achieving sustained weight loss. Food addictions, hang ups, resistance to change in diet are probably the most prominent reasons for the lack of results.
For me, I have ups and downs. I am currently trying to lose some stubborn pounds for our trip to see husbands mom and family in VB. I have done fairly well, coming in right now at about 17 lbs. lighter than last year when we went. But still have a ways to go. I think problem is mostly inconsistency with workouts and the whole food timing thing - when to eat what.
Tell Barbie to hang in there, not to be afraid of weights, some of the ladies here who look the fittest and are the smallest (not skinny - very muscled) - Cassie, Sandi, Bonnie - to name a few - all center their workouts around a combo of strength training, cardio and diet. They have educated themselves about what kind of foods to fuel up on, what kinds to avoid and when to eat what kinds of foods - it is not a fast process, but it can happen.
Something Brentyboy said that has always stuck with me goes something like this:
"Decide what you really want, then make the choice, but either way you go, be happy with the choice."
I thought about that a lot. If I want to lose weight and get fit, then I give up the foods that are hindering me - and be happy with that choice. If I feel I can't give up the foods that are keeping me from losing weight - then that too is making a choice, so I need to accept it and be happy with it.
I like Brent, he is a very "black or white" kind of guy - you're either in or out, hot or cold, no lukewarm, nanby panby kind of stuff! LOL! :D

Very true. motivation is different than Barbies. If she can still play VB, and play as well as she wants to, she's basically happy. If she starts to feel like a lump on the court she gets motivated to workout. She also likes to enjoy life, and doesn't like to live very restricted.

Relfecting on about a year from when I posted first pic. Not super happy with the two pics I just posted, but find quite an amount of motivation by looking at them. I have improved, but can improve alot more. Not as ripped as I had hoped being 180 lbs. I started around 186, bulked up to 196, and now have cut down to 180. I've read you don't notice being really ripped until you hit -10% BF, and I doubt I will hit that level. I have lost a little size here and there. Most happy with losing 3.25 inches around waist. Maybe another year, and I'll make it to 32....:) Found best results with FB workouts, as opposed to splits. Have worked around little aches, and pains, but I think thats expected. Trying to decide if I want to slim down more, or start a clean bulk. Would love to have some professionally done pics.

Definately owe shapefit and everyone here for tons of education, awesome support, friendship, and lots of good company. Special thanks to Boss and Cassie for the dedication, and commitment to the site, always being willing to help, and your guidance that helps people reach their goals in a safe, and healthy way. Thanks.
