HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN :D :D :D :D :D

I got a new job - WOO HOO!!!!!! Actually, on Monday old boss called me and told me that there was a position opening that he thought would be perfect for me (and he heard I wasn't happy where I was at). I went in yesterday to talk about the position with them, they gave me an official offer today, and I accepted!!!!! It is a considerable salary increase, which certainly doesn't hurt, but here is the best part - I will be travelling to China once or twice a year :D :D :D :D :D

I seriously can't stop smiling :D When I went there yesterday it felt like I was coming home, such a great feeling.

Anyway, this week has been rough for workouts, all I have gotten in is shoveling. But I have been right on track with food, so I feel good about that. Although tonight's dinner was a peanut butter sandwich - I am leaving town tomorrow and have absolutely nothing else.

Can't wait to turn in letter of resignation tomorrow

Could think of worse things than a peanut butter sandwich, thats north america's complete protein dish after all. o
Other countries are exotic & have dishes such as beans & rice, we have good ole bread & peanut butter.Don't underestimate that shoveling, think our news hour reported was approximately 400 calories per session, though I'm sure that is dependent on intensity & amount done ? ..one would hope.Congrats on your new job !!!! Whats the trips to china for ? Have a safe trip, wherever it is your going :)

I know, shoveling is definitely hard work - and I think I burned quite a bit this time - I was actually sweating pretty badly! And it was only 8 degrees out :D And I guess the PB sandwich wasn't so bad considering I could have gone through a drive-thru and been really bad!

The company I am going to (returning to, I should say) is a large manufacturing company with facilities in China and Vietnam - they are currently trying to get more into the retail markets there so they are ramping up pretty much everything - I am a cost accountant, so I will be working mainly with the international facilities from the corporate office - I am pretty pumped, international travel was a huge goal of mine when I was in college, I always hoped I would find a job that gave me that opportunity :D The only reason I left this company 2 1/2 years ago is because it is in a small town 35 miles from me and I thought I wanted something closer to home. That was a mistake, I have been miserable ever since! I am just so grateful this opportunity presented itself :D

I must say it was a great week for me :D Maybe I should have bought lottery tickets - LOL!!!

It has been a very hectic week since I gave notice. I have had to put in a ton of hours to help train everyone so I haven't been working out as much as I would like. And food has been ok this week with the exception of dinner - I haven't had a lot of spare time to cook so that has taken a dive

Yesterday was nephew's birthday so whole family was home. We decided to take the kids downhill skiing last night (in the end it was just me, one sister, two brothers-in-law, 6 year old nephew and 12 year old niece). I should note that it has been 16 years since I have been downhill skiing  We started out on the bunny hill (just getting there was quite a workout, and the rope tow was a crazy workout on the arms!). That got boring pretty quickly. brother-in-law used to be a pretty avid skiier so he told us which ski lift to use to get to the easiest hill. Apparently his memory is pretty bad because we got to the top and realized that the hill was named "Damnation."

Well, once we got up there we had to go down somehow. So I went first to show niece that there was no reason to be scared - I think I terrified her    I spent more time on back and tush than on skis  At one point I was on skiis AND on back sliding down the hill. Another time I was backwards on skiis, legs straight, bent at the waist, with hands on the ground - and the strangest part is that I was actually skiing like this. I heard someone on the lift say "how is she doing that" Believe me, it wasn't by choice that I was in that position

By the time we got to the bottom of Damnation, I had more snow in clothes than there was on the slope  And I had laughed more than I think I ever have  We got some crazy stares, but we made it in one piece ( niece cried for part of it I guess, but she lived through it).

We were going to give up when brother-in-law said "Oops, sorry, that wasn't the easy hill." Really, we hadn't noticed! So we went to the beginner hill and had a blast for 3 hours :) I actually was beginning to look like a real skiier :D I can't wait to go again.

I should add that I am really sore today, that was definitely a 3 hour full body workout :D

Now that sounds like a good family outing :) The reason you could ski like that thoughts are, because you were bent at the waist forward, it kept the ski ends slightly upwards vs digging into the snow.

It's been another rough week. There was another death in family :( This time it was aunt ( dad's brother died 5 years ago, this was his wife). The funeral was today, very sad :( She was the toughest lady I knew, she had a great heart and the best spirit of anyone I know! It occurred to me today that I have been to so many funerals for family members, I feel like I am too young to have this many deaths in the family - then I remembered how big family is ( mom had 13 siblings and dad had 5). So I guess it is to be expected, but it sure is difficult :(

The funeral along with finishing up at job has made for a really tough week - yesterday I barely made it through the day. I was so emotionally drained that I could barely keep functioning the entire day. I have not been eating well, and I have not had the time to exercise, so the last two weeks have been really limited. I plan to get right back at it starting tomorrow, I need to focus and get back on track!

I start new job on Monday so it should be a good week :) I am really excited, so hopefully that will get me going and keep me on track with diet and exercise!

I hope everybody had a great week!
