I haven't spoke to anyone, but i hope this doesn't effect me much i mean, ive heard depresseion can do things like make you lose your hair i don't want that, ive tried talking to mum she puts me up and helps as best as she can but it doesn't always work, i don't understand myself, but yeah thanks for caring i do appreciate it even if i don't show it
Good choice on the cardio. :)

I wouldn't worry about your hair falling out. biggest concern is that you're missing out on SO MUCH if you have to go through life not liking yourself or being comfortable with who you are. It seems silly to go through life being down and blue, when you could go through life being positive and happy. You only get to live once and i think you should spend your life in the best way possible. I really hope you will talk to your mom and see about possibly going to see a professional to see if he can help you work out your thoughts and feelings. I really think that could help so much Martin to help you see things in a different light and help you understand yourself. Does your mom know you have suicidal thoughts?... or does she just know that you get down sometimes.

I know you appreciate it Martin... and you're very welcome.

Hungry after work out, had couple slices of turkey 4g protein 30 calories, piece of low fat cheese (55 calories per 50g 10.8g protein) Not sure how much i had just cut some off. And a bit of celery, going to have a coffe now too, it seems like has been bloated past week like it needs to go in a bit more to see abs.

And yeah ive spoke to mum and even said i can't take it the way things are anymore im gonna end life if things don't change soon, she probably hates to hear this but yeahhh.

Thanks

Had a choclate biscuit too (130 calories) perhaps i shouldn't of. Considering im complaining about feeling and looking fat...

As far as being bloated... how much water are you drinking lately? I've found that when i'm really bloated if i increase water it helps IMMENSLY! I drink 1-1.5 gallons a day and this helps to keep me from getting bloated and puffy.

I'm glad that you've talked to your mom about it.... what would she say if you told her you'd like to see a professional to see if they can help you sort things out? I really think you should consider it Martin.

Chocolate buscuit... hey sometimes you just need some chocolate. It probably won't help the abs but i'm sure its not going to make a huge difference. It was only 130 calories.

Hmmm... I understand you wanting to work things out on you own. Back when I was 15 I had a very serious eating disorder (i'm sure i've told you this before) and dad threatened to send me a way to a place for anorexic people. Boy did that make me straighten up! I forced myself to gain some weight and made sure to eat more often when in front of parents because I wanted them to know that i was getting better. However, looking back I almost wonder if it wouldn't have been better if they had sent me away. As it was, it took me YEARS to work through disorder on own. After I began eating again I compensated by exercising more (up to 4 hours per day). When I started college and began working a full time job i found that I could no longer put in so much time at the gym, and as a result weight crept up. weight would creep up by about 20 lbs, then I would diet back down to a weight where I was happy... then it would creep back up... and i would diet back down. Perhaps if i had received professional help I could have just fixed the problems instead of covering them up with other bad habits. As I said, i totally understand you wanting to work things out on your own, however keep in mind Martin that sometimes its ok to have other people help you and sometimes those people can help you better than you can help yourself. It doesn't mean youre weak or that you have problems or anything like that. Sometimes we just need help. This has been a hard lesson for me to learn because I've always just tried to do everything myself and i'm terrible at asking others for help. I became engaged to fiance a few weeks ago and am for the first time in life I'm finding that having help is a wonderful thing! Its so nice to be able to share your troubles with somebody else... kind of lightens the burden so to speak and often helps to allow you to see things in a way that you otherwise wouldn't able to see them. :)

Just thoughts.

Martin I'm going to ask you something now, and I hope you can be honest about this.

What thing(s) don't you like about yourself? For example, Is it lack of friends? Is your local community run down and boring? Is it some problem with the way your face looks? Do you wish you had some kind of brilliant talent, like artistry, piano playing, football skills etc etc? Is it linked to some kind of incident when you were little? Did a parent, relative or another child, do or say something really bad to you? Did you see a really bad thing happen, that you wish hadn't happened?

Can you actually describe what makes you feel uncomfortable about yourself, or does trying to understand it become hard, because your mind can't juggle the pieces around to make sense?

Maybe your right Cassie, and congratulations, Boss Man, There is alot of things, i don't like the way i am, the way i look, the person i am. I wish i had a talent, whole life i have wanted to know people accepted me and respected me for who i am, but i don't have no talent so im not going to get anywhere to that stage. I have enough friends it's just im not happy with the way things are at all, makes me feel so down, need to change things completely because im not happy the way they are, not sure that makes sense or not.

Anyway, Day 115

Breakfast - porridge oats.

Lunch - 3 boiled eggs 2 pieces toast with peanut butter - again feel bloated and look to myself fatter around stomach than usual

Did 20mins cardio, 10mins fast 10mins slow/steady. 1min fast, then slow/steady.

Dinner - chicken pieces and pasta.

For desert there is a cabury choclate cake, would it be ok to have a piece, it's very tempting but ive not been greatlely satisfied with the almost 4months effort ive put in, maybe it's just taking time though so yeah, would a small piece hurt?

Had dinner and small piece of the cake. Hopefully won't affect me much

Hi Martin,

Think of it this way... by going to see a professional to see if he/she can help you work things out you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Worse case scenario is you go, chat with the person a few times, and find that they can't help you (which i doubt will happen.. but thats still not too bad for a worse case scenario). Best case scenario.. you go talk to a professional and they help you work things out so you can finally be able to like and appreciate who you are and what you have to offer the world. I know that you are a great person and that you have so much to offer.... I think it would be pretty cool if you could also see that so you don't have to go through life feeling down any longer. Life can be so so good and it would be so great if you could see how truly great it is.

Day 115.. wow we've been doing this for a while now!

Diet looks good! I wonder why you're feeling bloated? I asked you about water yesterday and i don't remember if you answered. How much water are you drinking each day?

Dinner looks good. The small piece of cake isn't going to totally set you back but isn't going to help you meet your goals either. You haven't had a ton of calories today. Do you feel satisfied or do you feel like you need more calories?

How do you like the cardio since you cut back on time and changed the pace? Do you find it as boring or has that helped to change it up? For the cardio... are you going 10 whole minutes fast followed by 10 slow or are you alternating fast,slow,fast,slow.. and so on for 20 minutes?

Great job!

Yes alternating Cassie, and feel a bit hungry now, it's 8pm, i don't want to overeat as i still want to lose the fat so the 6 pack shows without tensing. I drink water every day, however haven't drunk as much today i think, 4 glasses? Also i find the cardio better now as it doesn't take as long and isn't much of a drag, however perhaps im not burning enough by doing this? It says 400 calories but?

Thanks for your concern again about the issue, i will consider it if things get much worse!

Perfect. Thats all I ask... if things get much worse please please go see somebody and see if they can help. :)

For the cardio, yes the shorter faster cardio is just as effective as the longer slower cardio when it comes to fat loss. Especially since you've been doing the longer slower cardio for so long, switching to faster cardio is great because it forces your body to work out of its comfort system. You've most likely adapted to the slower cardio because you've been doing it for so long. Changing the workout is very important to keep your body working at its hardest.

For meals, if you're hungry you can eat Martin. You really haven't had too much to eat today. You could make yourself some scrambled or boiled eggs or have some low fat cheese and veggies. Its ok to each, just go for healthy food and you'll be fine.

For the water 4 8 ounce glasses today? I think your problem with the bloating really could be that youre not getting enough water and youre getting quite a bit of sodium. Sodium makes you retain water and can make you puffy and bloated feeling. Drinking lots of water (I drink between 1 and 1.5 gallons a day) will keep your system flushed and help you not feel bloated and puffy.

Day 116

Breakfast - Big bowl of porridge oats.

Lunch - 3 boiled eggs 2 slices toast with peanut butter.

Dinner - Jacket Potato, peas, and quiche - made up of tomatoes, ham, cheese, eggs and milk i belive. Going to do weights in a while (bench press), some push ups and hopefully pull ups and if hungry in a while if there's any quiche left will have a bit more .

Did weights, max weight (32kg) And did 3 sets of 10 reps of deadlifts, 3 sets of 5-6 rows. Tried doing curls but could only do 1 or 2. And did 7 sets of benching reps of 10 but im begining to find things easy, however some good news perhaps. A close friend of dad's poped round and he's really strong, used to do weights etc. He was giving me some tips basically saying eat stuff like protein shakes before work out and all, or tuna and pasta and stuff. And saying do more weights but reps of 6-8 instead of the 12-15 and just giving me alot of advice, he even said he would let me borrow some of his weights sometime not sure if he will though as he's ot the most reliable but i could do with some dumbell weights and all.

Hi Martin!

Its FRIDAY! How are you classes going? You haven't mentioned college in a while... thought I'd check.

Meals look good. Breakfast needs protein. ;)

Thats great that your dads friend was there to offer advice and offered to let you use his weights. The fact that the weights are getting easier is AWESOME! That means youre getting STRONGER Martin.. which means youre building muscle and making progress! Yippeeeee!

I'm going to have to disagree with some of the advice he gave you. Protein shakes are good for before workouts, however they are GREAT for after workouts as they provide a quick supply of protein to your muscles to help them recover faster. Also, higher weight and lower reps are best for building muscle. Think about it... you are lifting a heavier amount of weight so your muscles have to GROW to be able to handle the heavier weight. Typically bodybuilders will do lower reps higher weight to build their muscle, then as they get closer to getting on stage they will increase their reps and lower their weight a bit. One thing you could try is to alternate weights and reps... sometimes doing 5 sets of 5 or 4 sets of 6-8 and somedays doing 3 sets of 10-15.

Your workout looks decent. Did you do any pullups?

Cassie :)

Thanks for your advice Cassie and i will have to buy some more protein powder soon, hopefully get the money from somewhere :P College is going alright, however im not sure what i want to do with life, il probably finish this electrical course but i was having a chat with dad and he said if he could go back he would do a long course and be a top solicitor/barriaster earning around £1000 a day, not sure if still possible, but id like to look into this, also the electrical will help me if i don't carry it on by helping me install electrics in own house instead of charging people to do it.. stil not sure but yeah.

Perhaps i could do that with the weight, hopefully get more soon, and ive done a couple of pull ups, il do more as i go past the bar.

Thanks

Figuring out what you want to "be when you grow up" is such a hard decision! I started going to college at 18 and was going to be a teacher, then I changed mind and took only health and fitness classes for a few terms because that was all that i was interested in. After that, I dropped out for a year and just worked and had fun. At that time I was barely getting by and was broke so finally realized that I really needed to go back and get an education. I had no idea what I wanted to do... I know I loved health and fitness but wanted something a bit more broad so ended up going for a business degree and ended up getting 3 degrees (two in business, minor in health and wellness, one in general studies) over the course of 7 years and became and insurance agent while i was going. Now I'm $20,000 in debt and am making the same amount of money that i was making before I got degree. I know degree will help me down the road, however its frustrating to have worked so hard for it for what feels like nothing. Looking back, I wish I had followed passion and obtained degree in Nutrition or Exercise Science. I guess BEST advice for you is to figure out what your passionate about, and get a degree related to that. If you love what you do you're most likely going to be more successful at it than if you don't. You are right about the electrician thing though.. that is going to save you tons of money down the road, even if you just end up doing your own house or maybe doing it on the side.

Great idea for the pullups! ;)
