I was using irish cream beans, then found they also come in decaf, though they still make mouth dry, so not sure its 100 % decaf..doubt it, BUT its better than full caffeinated.I am trying to kick caffeine too :)

Okay les, you are the nutrition person, the person son saw at the hospital for nutrition wasn't to fond of views either, she is trying to say saturated fats are ONLY in things like margarine or lard. However he is severely underweight, so I will not argue the point about saturated fats with her, even though they are a cause of cholesterol. To me fitness nutrition or body composition/fat loss is on another level, than " regular " healthy eating, this is where nutritionist & trainers collide, I can live with that :)

So as in the same field as the person who works at the hospital that I just took son too ? Think they are dieticans, damn word is underlined, how is it supposed to be spelled ?

Yes admittedly diet is quite strict, though not shy of carbohydrates by any means, except fruit, because I don't see a purpose for it, its a simple carbohydrate. The majority of carbohydrates consumed daily should be complex, not simple. However I'm not sure of the nutritional content fruit would provide, vitamins etc, that you can't find in a less sugar filled food.

Hope everyone (well, here in the States anyway!) had a great Thanksgiving :D I did overeat as usual, but not bad compared to other years. No workout yesterday - I am one of those crazy Black Friday shoppers so I was on feet all day so I guess I got a little exercise in (OK, so I know it isn't much but better than sitting on tush all day  ). We were out shopping at 4:00 am and didn't stop until early evening.

Thanks for the tips, Les and Bonnie. And Les, I skipped cereal today just for you :) For breakfast I had two eggs fried hard, each on a piece of whole wheat toast. I could sure use some breakfast suggestions to help keep me away from cereal. And now I am having a cup of coffee - it's really hard to give up caffeine! Today's plan is to clean and put up Christmas tree, then I will do yoga DVD. I love four day weekends :D

THanks for the suggestions - I usually do oatmeal with eggs (Cassie's recipe) but I like the idea of a little PB - I may have to give that a try tomorrow :D I do have a question about bread - for a long time now I have been buying Sara Lee Delightful 100% whole wheat. It only has 45 calories per slice (they are very thin slices). I recently heard that high fructose corn syrup has been tied to cancer and I see that brand has high fructose corn syrup (and so do most brands). I found a bunch of brands that are very natural and don't have that ingredient, but all of them have around 100-110 calories per slice!! Is that horrible, or are the extra calories worth it?

orowheat flax bread is 90 calories per slice.Yeah les I guess that is the reason I nixed fruit, in journey to reach a low body fat :) Refined foods ??? What are those ;) Joking, I know exactly what they are & avoid them. The dairy, still necessary to some extent :)

So I put Christmas tree up yesterday and it just occurred to me that I don't have room to do videos now!!! I may need to find a new place for it

I am considering joining a gym. There are two convenient gyms that I need to decide between. The first one is really close and if I sign a 12 month contract there is no joining fee and it is only $25/month, otherwise it is $35/month if I do month to month and a $35 joining fee. There are a few classes offered, mainly yoga and pilates, otherwise it is the typical cardio machines and weights. It is a smaller place, not staffed all the time. It is open long hours, there just aren't always employees there. The second one is the YMCA. This one is on way home from work so still convenient, and still within less than 10 minutes from home. To join there is a $75 fee and then it is $40/month (I don't think I need to sign a contract, it is just month to month. There is a lot more offered in terms of classes, plus there is a pool and a gymnasium.

issue is that I don't have much for disposable income right now so I can't decide if I should go for it. I really want to join the Y because there is so much more offered, but I don't want to pay the joining fee!! Decisions, decisions :? I know this past year when I lost over 30 pounds I did it on own with DVDs and sister's elliptical and recumbent bike, plus running. So I know I can do it on own, I just think I would get more variety at the gym. Guess I will think about it for a while.

I woke up with a bad cold today so I took it easy all day, pretty sure it is a sinus infection - I am trying to think positive and imagine it is going to go away really quickly :D

sister really likes her Y near her house. Its new and really nice. I don't have a Y near house otherwise i probably would join. Gyms are really nice even just for winter and you could just cancel it in may or something if you did the month to month option. Its totally a personal choice though and of course money is a decision too. Its a tough choice. Although gym isin't cheap I'm really glad i joined. It is especially nice in winter. But i thought about it for a long time before i joined too.

Good news - I lost 1.8 pounds over Thanksgiving week - YAY!

Bad news - I am still sick.

But I like the good news better so I am still in a good mood :D I was hoping to get a good workout in tonight but I keep thinking about interview on Wednesday afternoon and I REALLY, REALLY want to be healthy for it. So I think I will take it easy. I know that the reason I allowed myself to get off track the last few months was because I was having such a hard time at work - and I let it get the best of me. I can't even describe how badly I need a change of scenery (and change of boss!). So I am going to do whatever necessary to be on top game on Wednesday - I will be interviewing with the controller and the VP of the company so I need to be ready for anything

As for the gym, I think I am in agreement with Les - I thought about it all day today and I decided to wait. I don't want to put myself in a position of more stress due to money. And I know I can do it at home and I can use sister's equipment. Plus I leave Stewie alone for 12 hours most days so I hate to leave again to spend time at the gym. I figured if I hit a plateau maybe I will join then. Also, sometimes in January they drop their joining fee, so if I decide to then I can save myself $75!

Thanks Lynne :D I just got done taking measurements. That is one thing I didn't do last time when I started losing and I really wish I had. I have no idea how many inches I lost before. Now I will know. I last took measurements in April, and at that point I had already lost the majority of weight. Now comparing current measurements to those in April, the only place I didn't gain much was in calves  Everything else was pretty painful to see  But it will be fun to see the inches drop off instead of just the pounds :D

Interview complete :D I think it went very well and they showed a lot of interest in references so I guess I will find out - I was the last interview so they said they would be making a decision really soon - crossing fingers :D

Tonight I worked out on sister's elliptical - wow, I almost passed out  Apparently body wasn't well enough yet. But I did it anyway. I still have this stupid cold and it really wore me out.

I haven't done the best with food today, I haven't eaten near enough.

Breakfast - Kashi Go-Lean (I forgot protein shake so that is all I had)
Snack - apple with natural peanut butter
Lunch - turkey sandwich (1 slice Arnold whole wheat bread with a whole bunch of turkey and a slice of fat free cheese and ff mayo) I forgot grapes and carrots sitting on counter at home, stressful morning and I would have forgotten head if it wasn't attached
Pre-workout snack - protein shake
DInner - haven't eaten yet but it will probably just be oatmeal - I am exhausted and don't feel well so I don't think I can force myself to eat anything else

I'm feeling a bit better today - not 100% but definitely better than I have been. I didn't feel like I could do a lot of cardio so I did Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones DVD.

Today's meals

Breakfast - Kashi Go-Lean with skim milk (I know, I know, I need to get away from this, but I have three dogs right now and wow, it takes forever to get them outside twice and fed in the mornings! One is 15 so she takes a lot of work)

Snack - Dannon Light & Fit yogurt with 1/2 cup raspberries and Kashi nuggets (for the crunch). I was going to buy Greek yogurt but I used to eat that and I just can't handle the taste, it feels like I am eating bile

Lunch - chicken and rice soup, apple with peanut butter

Snack - 2 light string cheese, 21 almonds

I'm going out of town this weekend to visit sister and her family. They are having a birthday party for nieces - should be interesting with food. Although that sister has gotten very supportive and has tried to start eating healthy as well so I know she will have veggies. Her problem is that she never eats protein, so I may have to take along some protein shakes. Hopefully I can fend off all of the party snacks and birthday cake!

Dinner - grilled chicken/zucchini, mushrooms, red peppers sauteed in olive oil/brown rice

Yumm!!! That sounds so good! :D

If you have a bit of cake this weekend, don't sweat it, just do a extra workout, or workout longer next week to do damage control.

Have fun!
