Should I be doing these in some kind of progression? Instead of doing 5 @ 135 lbs ( next goal) should I do 1 @ 120, 1 @ 125 until I get to 135 or whatever? And what would be the benefit?

well i'm simply trying to get back to numbers before back exploded which is coming along well..iu'm not really maxing out either, pretty close, but none of the top wts i've reached in the last 4 weeks have been maximum effort but will be next week

i definately don't think you should be trying singles...if your doing sets of 5 (say 3 x 5) @ 135 then do 2 - 4 warm up sets (that is what 5, 4, 3, and 2 rep sets are) at 75, 95, 125 maybe then go for your 1st working set

say you get 5, 4, 3 at 135 for your working sets then next session you're minumum aim is to get 1 more rep so 5, 5, 3 at least but if you can get 3 x 5, well increse the wt for next session and go again
