I placed the 10 lb plate on abs and press upwards with the extra resistance. This was a first for me, there was a plate laying around (someone left 3 plates by the mats) and I had seen others do it so what the heck, figured I'd try it!. It felt weird at first, but surely it's better than without resistance.
Actually it was awkward doing the "Sumo" squat/shoulder press combo for some reason. Regular squats works better for me, but I hold DB's on shoulder, squat and when I stand up I press the DB's upwards fully extended- that's 1 rep. Bring the DB's back down to resting on shoulders, or jsut above shoulders. Pretty easy.

I'm off today to Total Fitness to do Cardio Workout - details in Lynne's thread :)

Oh you know what I mean - NOT the Smith Machine just using the squat rack. That comment was for your benefit as I know you don't like the Smith.:)

It was late when I was posting.....I'm perplexed by weak back?!? :(

Did Cardio at Total Fitness - not much though I must admit :( I was too excited testing the various treadmills, by everything to concentrate on what I needed to do. BUT I made a decision on the treadmill and chose the less expensive one - it's perfect for purposes and very easy to use. So, I've finalized order and hope to intall new gym in about a month - delay due to vacation:( Once installed I'll be doing workouts at home (no excuses about not being able to get to the gym!), but I plan to keep gym membership and stop in from time to time. I am soooo excited!

Home gym thing sounds good, and yes, definitely no excuses for slacking, especially if you rolled ove in bed, and flopped out straight onto a Treadmill :P and then you could use one of those Bosu Balls, as a crude hat, so you keep your head dry when you're in your hot tub.

Plus they would double up as a Bird Poo helmet, so doublely useful .

good then...

when deadlifting and squatting you really need to brace the core as tight as you can which is pushing everything out (intrabdominal pressure) and holding that for the whole rep, you can re-set btw reps if you lose it

try it and notice the difference

No steam room or sauna :( How about the hot tub in old avatar, will that be ok?

Stop by anytime!! :)Ask your work if they will cover the expense to get here, we can call it a "Fitness and Health Day" after all don't employers want healthy employees? Makes sense to me :)

Well, I sure don't have to worry about over exercizing right now - didn't make it to the gym for the last 2, geez, maybe 3 days!! This is the weekend that we have to close up the camper - season ends Columbus Day weekend - lots of work, so I can't say I didn't get any exercise - I'm exhausted! The good news is now I can stay home on weekends without the summer temptations of food and drink - yeah! I still want to lose 9 lbs before the 23rd (wanted to be 160 for Aruba)- probably won't make it but will get as close as I can.

Have a great evening!
