Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi ladies,
Been a busy week and I thought I'd get here sooner to catch up...
Molasses, I see you had the same wisdom teeth issues as me. Ouch on the surgeon nicking a blood vessel. Yikes what a thing to say to a 17 year old. Yup Ben is still looking good. Yeah me too Molasses, I thought they seemed so nice and down to earth too.
Wish I could have gone and seen Glen Campbell too, Molasses. Really liked him.
Glad the contractor got some work done for you Molasses and hope the other stuff goes easily for you.
What a pain with Comcast, Molasses, sure hope it all gets fixed once and for all. Enjoy your book or should I say hubby's LOL
Sounds like last Saturday was a good one Chris. Plus I see during the week you got a nice 30 minute walk in, plus covered 13 miles with your bike too. Oh I love nature like that also Chris....how nice. Thanks on the bear, yeah he will be here with us for more years too.
Bekah, glad you are liking your job....that's what is important. Yeah I agree Ben is a cutie....and yeah we did a lot of stuff like that throughout our marriage....little surprise gifts, notes, cards and little gifts.
Good luck with your goals on lowering your sugar/carb/ and working out consistently.
Chris, glad last Sunday was a nice one for you and hubby on the walk and you also got some book time in too.
Sorry to hear about your co-worker getting hurt on vacation, plus I see you have some personal training sessions too. No worries perfectly understandable on the off line time...I see your DD is coming in September....hope you can get it all done too.
Well Bekah I wrote to you about how to practice and employ those skills so I have every confidence in you.
Kudos to you this past Monday Chris on the walk to work and lunchtime too. Glad to hear the stretching of your calf muscles is working out. Wow I see a walk home from work on this past Tuesday. MMM your dinner sounded yummy except I don't know what "garden crash beans are". I see you got some bagpipe practice in too. See you had a busy Tuesday.
YAH, HUGS on not getting out as much. Glad all went well with your sister's hip surgery. Glad you got to see her new house too. I see the kids are moved to MN. Oh I bet Henry loved that big truck. Brandy and Cassidy lay in the U-Haul one we had to get from to here.
Very glad the sale went quickly so your son didn't have to pay another month's rent. HUGS on their moving so far away, YAH.
Hope all went well for hubby and glad the weather was nice going there. I see Misa is still with you and so is the stray. Sorry about them not coming to get the strays.
I see you have been working on your trampoline.
Oh Chris, sorry about the bad night and glad you got some sleep before dinner too. I see you practiced with your pipes and chanter....I am sure the neighbors were fine with it.
I see you got a nice long walk in on Friday and took a vacay day. Gotta love the "old tunes". I feel for your hubby as mine having been on overload this week as our allergy levels have skyrocketed here. Yup I do the moving and groovin' on Tuesday with walking/dance time.....our oldies station here provides the good music.
Glad the new job is going well Bekah and I don't like rude people either. Smart move on the head down. And what a nice young fellow to recognize the rude one.
I see the book is coming to a close. Good luck with cover and back; and the formatting. Yes Adobe is the one you want to use for it. Also is someone has Photoshop that would be a good one also.
Good luck at the library with it.
Your schedule sounds good and I am with you I liked roaming the different small areas than some of the parks. No worries on the emails.... Yup it was all a blur...plus I was telling Chuck and he said well you drove poor Bruce crazy with "Old Time Rock n' Roll" at the dance club we used to go to...that song came on and if our friends Bruce and Theresa were there, he came running up to the dance floor to find me and do our "thang" ......yup very fun memories.
Well on that note and since it's now 4:42 a.m. in the morning I am going to try and lay down and snooze for a bit I hope....
Hope you all had a great week and same for the weekend,
Sue

uh sue i didn't do the head down on purpose. ha ha. It's a natural reaction for me if i'm hurt. lol
I hope you get some sleep tonight sense you were up so much last night.
I'm going to a solar eclipse viewing party tomorrow.
i have to go alone.
But i'm getting use to that. I'm excited to see it.
anyone else going to view it? I have no glasses they are giving them away there. I've never paid attention before when we had an eclipse so this should be a treat.
Have a nice week everyone!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
HI all and hope you all enjoyed your weekend too;) Well the garage at sons house was kind of full yet so Dh and a young guy he got and his son helped with 4 Big loads and then there was also many paint cans left from when son had moved in also, plus his, so they had to get a truckload of them out also last weekend! At least Dh knew a guy who can get rid of them so brought them over to him. About 50 gallons worth:( But we figured the people buying it would not sign the paper next Fri. if when they walk through on Tues., see all those cans which were not from son but, might not sign until we got rid of them anyway. So lucky for son, he had his dad and DB also to help on that.
Yes Becky, His job is at that Horizontal Integration computer place which is very nice to their employees comfort and all and thats in St. Louis Park also but sounds like a nice place they are renting as it has a pool and bike trails right to it etc. Guess he even drove his bike a few times to work as its about 10 miles away only? Also got their girl in K school that only a mile away and could even go by bike trail to that:) The kids love the pool and a park close by for the dog to catch tennis balls I guess. But at least their not permanently there and will rent until they know what is up for the future later:) Sounded like its nicer there then the other side of the big city though? It was DIL's bday so she caught up to son since his is in June for 33:) I hope you like your job and guess there's always something or people to get used to in any job hey? Great on the book making for your mom too!
Chris, hope you got out again and your Dh's allergies are better. Sounds like fun to have a musical neighbor:) Could use that around here:)
Love the old tunes also Sue and the ones mentioned sure get you going:) Hoping you have a good sleep and a great week too.
I guess the eclipse is in St. Louis, Mo. where older sis is but we will see a bit of it up here, if not cloudy. I kind of wouldn't want to be in those places since SO many people are going to them:( Don't care for Big crowds anymore;) I thought I saw one before but must have been a partial also?
Mo and Bama, hi to you and hope your all doing fine and enjoying the last days of August:) We haven't had the Best summer really and it has gone pretty fast so I hope the winter goes fast too:) haha take care all!

Minneapolis is great in the summer time for lakes and biking and even sailing on the lakes. Tons of people walking around. MN actually has a lot of bike trails all over. i'm not sure what the other side of the city location he means? Probably north minneapolis is the worst for crime I believe. St.Paul is quite a nice smaller city too. t if he is referring to the other side of St. louis Park i'm not sure though. Has he done any sight seeing or does he go anywhere on the weekends? If he is looking for things to do let me know and i can come up with some ideas for him to see more of MN. thanks on mom's book.

it's 80% viewing here for the eclipse. take care YAH

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi again:) Well I didn't get the welder glasses to look through so I didn't look but just fun to see the bright sunshine go to funny looking kind outside:) I guess we had 70% and son down GB had a bit more and had day off so he was at a gathering of a lot of people watching it. Had a pic from sis in St. Louis, Mo. and it was dark:) I did see it hit Oregon on NBC though too and Dark:) We had clear skies for it but now clouds are coming.
Went did bouncing but back of legs start aching so don't get too long yet:( also did a few min. on exerbike in garage too. Too warm for a sauna but suppose to cool off tomorrow so hoping to start the long process of heating it up:) Seems like get and go, goes fast:(
Becky, No son didn't say about St. Louis Park at all. Seems pretty nice at least more away from the business's I guess. Where they lived before in Marquette, Mi. they also are a nice biking city now. I guess the boss and his wife took them both out and all over when they went to look at places to rent and then took them out for dinner and some other workers turned up also so they've been around a bit. Plus while son was down there, he was looking around. Not sure if its Hopkins where he went to a little movie theater that was pretty cheap:) Not the New movies but not that old either. Plus they must have gone to some Farmers Market also:) They have a lot of unpacking to do or she will figure out what needs to be unpacked now anyway but I'm just glad they don't have to go very far for gdd's school or to work:) I imagine they get winter there too:) nephew lives down there and some neighbor's son also pretty close and I guess DIL has relatives not far too. At least he can work mostly at work now although in future he would like to work from home for people and live where they would like to live in the U.P. Once they really get settled a bit, I have a feeling they will be traveling to GB and CF's also a lot like they did from up here.
Yes Chris, lucky they had all of us up here and I'm hoping the next walk thru will go ok as we took a ton of paint cans out that weren't even son's:( I can't imagine anything else as they did paint it all up nice and it wasn't even that too good when they moved in. Sounds so nice that your able to walk to work and all there:) I was walking in 40's and I should have kept it up:(( But when mom died, I let it get to me too much:( Then after so many operations, I went to work:) But I didn't keep up the extra walking I should have been doing so keep it up:)
Mo, Bama and Sue, hope you are having a nice day also and got some good sleep too:) Sue, loved the comics and all also:) Mo, have fun when your DD comes up in Sept. also. Well its DS and BIL's 52nd anniversary today so will call her and I see stray cat is at the door too:0 take care

YAH i've always wanted to go to Marquette. I actually am going to Michigan in a few weeks. grandma's place is not far from Mackinaw City. Most people don't know mackinaw city but it's in the bob seger song that i can't remember the name too.
roll me away i looked it up.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzAR31Ff8bg
We take Hwy 2 all the way through the UP to Mackinaw Bridge and then Mackinaw City.
I'm not that familiar with Hopkins and St. Louis Park. I've been there and work there and i'm somewhat familiar with the area but i don't live there.
I didn't see the eclipse today. It rained and i did go to the library but the glasses were all given away it was really busy and then it did pour rain.
Have a nice evening!

Happy Tuesday all!
I didn't step out to see the eclipse here either. It wasn't a high priority for me. I did go to bagpipe practice last night and I got in more notes than ever before.
I am only comparing myself to myself and doing what I can to improve. This morning our building had a planned power outage so I took the opportunity to get in a morning walk. 45 minutes of walking and listening to music as I took the long way to work this morning.
Oh and I switched up breakfast this morning and took out hot cocoa and replaced it with a smoothie. That should cut a fair bit of sugar out of diet.
Thanks YAH I will keep walking. I am afraid of the old adage "use it or loose it". I hope the walk through goes well!

Hi All,
Adding to yesterday's exercise was a 20 minute walk home. Last night DH and I went to our local free outdoor concert. The singer and type of music is similar to Bonnie Raitt. She did a lovely job. I really enjoyed it. Got up late today. Probably because we had to use the AC the last two nights.
Oh well life goes on!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi everyone , again I am sorry I have been missing so long. I will try and catch up when I can.
Well there wasn't much of a showing here of the Eclipse. It didn't get dark but was somewhat cloudy and then we had a heavy rain. I watched most of it on TV.
DIL is doing quite well with her knee replacement and hopefully she will get the staples out this week and be able to drive . That will help some for me as we are having to take grandson to work etc and her to the doctors. It has been keeping us busy .
I love that I joined the Y and really am enjoying the silver sneakers classes. i just wish they were earlier in the day . I am an early morning person and like to be done a long time before 9 plus the gal that teaches it never starts on time usually it is about 15 minutes late . One of the ladies that I go with lives about 25 minutes away so next week we are going to alternate the two Y's . Her class starts at 8 which I do like BUT it is a 25 minute drive . Told her I would go a couple of times and not at all in the bad weather. She said that class is much better and the instructor is always on time. So we shall see.
Not much else going on here .
Oh I am still walking as cardio . On 39 day of the 100 day Challenge of walking AT LEAST a mile a day. So far so good but I think I am getting a little bored. A new gym is opening up here . I think it is called Planet Fitness and membership is only 10 a month so I may check that out . The Y is great but in the summer time it is full of kids . Not that I don't like Kids but the parents drop them off so not much supervision . This according to the desk clerk and there isn't much they do about it .
WEll that is up to date of whats going on here . I think Fall will be early this year and that is fine with me. The summer has not really been very hot .
DH is home today so will probably not get a lot done here.
Have a wonderful week everyone . Again , I will try and get caught up and keep caught up.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hey, Sisters,
The eclipse was a bust in yard--too cloudy to see the bite out of the sun. I know people only a few miles away had a much better view. Oh, well, better luck next time!
I do think it would be cool to experience a total eclipse someday.
Glad your DIL is healing well, Bama, and you are holding down the fort till she does.
There's a new-ish Planet Fitness here in town and the low monthly fee is a big draw. It's a lot less than Y membership! For people who don't use the pool, or the child care (members pay lower rates), it doesn't make a whole lot of financial sense to go with the Y over PF or Retro, but there a lot of the older members who have created a nice sense of community at the Y that I don't think they'd get at a big box gym. Still, if I was paying for a gym membership, I'm not sure I'd go with the Y.
The outdoor concert sounds like fun, Chris. I like Bonnie Raitt. The county used to put on a lot of free concerts in the park (they probably still do, but I'm out of the loop). Anyway, we used to go to the ones that piqued our interest and always enjoyed them. Roseanne Cash was favorite. (I'll be heading to YouTube for a little Tennessee Flat Top Box now! And then because Roseanne always makes me think if Rodney Crowell, She's Crazy for Leaving will be the encore.
)
Hope you found some glasses, Sue, and had smooth rides.
I've been to Mackinaw City, Bekah--we go that way when we drive to/from MN. Beautiful area! I'm happy your new job is going well. There's always one rude person around--don't let them get to you! Here's a story for you--recently a member I had considered somewhat of a friend was using the treadmill. After she was walking for about 10 min., she called me over from where I was talking to another member and said, "this treadmill is disgusting--can you clean it?" She paused the treadmill but stayed on it. I was trying to wipe the display from the side and accidentally shut it off, so having lost her data, she decided she'd just move to the adjacent treadmill. Then as I was walking away, she pointed to an area on the TM that was still wet from spray and said, "did you get this spot here?" I thought it was really weird. First of all, there are spray bottles and paper towels in several locations--if she thought the TM was disgusting, she could have a) cleaned it before she got on or b) chose a different one, one that hadn't been sweated on by the prior occupant. I felt like she was trying to demean me--like people who snap their fingers at wait staff. Anyway, I'm still polite to her, but I don't consider her a friend anymore, or go out of way to talk to her.
Good to see you, YAH! The rebounder does take some getting used to--I find calves get sore pretty quickly. Luckily I think it only takes a few minutes to get your lymph flowing.
I"m glad to hear things are working out well for your DS; sounds like everything is falling into place. I know you'll miss seeing them, and visiting in Marquette.
MBun is barking to go out, so I guess that's as far as I can get for now! Sweet dreams, everyone~
