Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi everyone , Beautiful day here today but we had a heavy rain again last night . tomato plants are not doing weil, to much rain I am told
Enjoyed the Y again this morning . The regular instructor is back and I think she needed her week off because she socked it to us this morning. We used the bands, dumbells and the little ball . A very good workout I thought . I had done 3 miles before I left for there so got walking in also .
Started the challenge again yesterday . Some of the gals walk around 10 miles a day . I don't have time for that plus feet wouldn't allow it . I honestly don't think that much is need but to each his own.
Grandson is enjoying his job at Krogers but He did get a couple of midnights and doesn't like that . Of course once school starts they won't be allowed to work him those kind of hours.
Went to the Flea Mrt with Daughter and Son in Law and Chloe saturday at a good time but feet gave out on me. Enjoying being with them .
I am sewing a goose outfit . Ohio State buckeyes . Turning out rather cute.
Well that is all the news here for now.
Take care

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
hope everyone is having a good week.
there was this goose family. probably 10 of them. Some young born this year. They would always sit really close to the road. I stopped for them a few times crossing. people go pretty fast on it. yesterday someone drove right on them when they were crossing. killed 4 or 5. really sad. i don't know why they didn't stop. i don't think it would have been at night because i think geese don't walk around too much at night. the speed limit is 50 there. but maybe there were speeding or it was a truck or both.
i have this t shirt i wear with leggings when i workout. It says, i make sweat look good. People talk to me about this t shirt everywhere i go all summer long.

It depends on the circumstances. If there is a law in America like there is in Britain, that says if trying to prevent death or injury of wildlife may endanger human life when you're out driving, you have to hit the wildlife even if it kills them.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Afternoon ladies,
Bama, I see you had nice weather on Tuesday but rain too. Don't blame you for being upset about the tomatoes. Glad you are enjoying the Y. I see after her vacay the instructor was primed and ready to get every one moving so they could feel the burn LOL Good for you on the walking. Good luck with the challenge. Wow that is a lot of walking.
Glad to hear your grandson is enjoying his job at Kroger's. We loved it when we lived in Virginia and same goes for Lousy LIVE and here where we are now they call themselves something else. However, there prices went up a lot and stopped carrying many of the things we buy.
Yeah so many jobs today with those midnight hours.
I know you remember the Blue Laws with no work on Sunday and kids working only certain hours.
Sounds like fun at the Flea Market....sorry about your feet.
Oh Bama, you have to send me a picture of that.
You too, Bama, take care.
Bekah, hope your week is going well also. OMG the poor goose family. You know what I'd like to do to those that killed the geese.
OMG I love the t shirt....that is just so cool.
Bossman I don't know of any law here but maybe there are in some areas and not others.
Well on that very sad note I am off to go do comics, one last mail and check and off to meds, breathing and a much needed lay down.
Hope you all had a nice day. Oh and Grocery report along with the rest of the week news is in the mail.
Have a nice evening,
Sue

i will read the report tonight Sue. Is your sleep getting more improved or did you not sleep last night and were tired this afternoon?whenlifewassimpler wrote:Bekah, hope your week is going well also. OMG the poor goose family. You know what I'd like to do to those that killed the geese.

It really was sad about the geese family. I There just innocent animals. if you are going 50 i don't understand why someone didn't see them. even in the dark. i think they probably were speeding. maybe it was dark out and they were going to fast.
I don't know if there are laws like that or not. I wouldn't be surprised if there is though. I've never heard of one though but again i wouldn't be surprised.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)

Not been a good sleeping week Bekah, but such is life now, I guess, so like everything else I will learn to live with it. Nothing I can do. I will, however, talk to both primary and dermatologist when I go see them shortly.
Hope you had a nice evening.
Well I am off to a mail check, breakfast, vacuuming, cooking and the list goes on....
Wishing everyone a nice Thursday. For those of you who work.....week is almost over....as Friday will be here soon.
Sue

Well I had no idea if such laws existed in America when I posted comments and still don't, but In Britain such laws do, because the law says endangering human life to try and preserve wildlife, whilst driving, is not acceptable.whenlifewassimpler wrote:Bossman I don't know of any law here but maybe there are in some areas and not others.
I think some people in the past have had judicial sentences meted out to them for such things, because they swerve to avoid something like a deer, for example, rather than run it down and cause a traffic incident that has harmed or killed other human life.
However I cannot cite any specific incidences, I just remember hearing about such things in some dim bit of past.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi, everyone,
Another hot sticky day here, but I guess that's summer in NJ.
DH took a vacation day for last night so we got up early and went to Trader Joe's this morning, stocked up on the things I like to get there like organic raisins, raw cashews, frozen organic spinach and cauliflower rice. I bought a jar of Everything Bagel spice mix, which I'm looking forward to using on veggies. Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds good!
I worked a little more on cleaning weeds out from between the sidewalk pavers till the sun and heat chased me back inside. Almost done! The plan is to get the weeds all out and then fill the gaps with polymeric sand. Last time I used mason's sand and the weeds came back really quickly.
I don't believe that's a law in NJ, but I know the kids did learn in driver's that they should hit the deer rather than swerve into the other lane to avoid it. Sad about the geese babies though.
Love the t-shirt, Bekah!
I'm sorry you can't seem to get a good night's sleep, Sue, and hope your doctors have some workable solutions for you.
Sorry about your tomatoes, Bama; hope they recover and you still get a harvest. Sounds like you are enjoying yourself though, with the Y and some time with your family. Glad your grandson likes his job. You are very dedicated to be doing the challenge again already! I agree that 10 miles is more than is necessary. There's a woman who comes into the Y who is obsessed with cardio. She has gotten way too thin but won't take a day off from the treadmill and is always talking about all the things she won't eat because of the fat or calories. I know she thinks she looks good--one of the men members was telling her she was too thin last week and she was beaming like she won the lottery--but he was not complimenting her, he was concerned about her health. It's actually hard to look at her; she's maybe 5'2" and I'm guessing well under 100 pounds.
Well, I am off to figure out what we are eating for supper tonight; DH will be ready early, I think. He's out mowing now.
Happy Friday, everyone--have a great weekend!

Mo, do you ever go to the boardwalk in New Jersey? we've been having hot days here too.
yeah i'm still upset about the geese. the road is lighted at night too. and it's quiet so there is a good chance you could have your brights on and with the lights along the road or during the day going 50 miles an hour no reason why it happened....
Sue i hope your doctors can help you. not getting sleep is really hard. hope you go soon to your doctor.

Afternoon all,
Bossman gotcha on the instances.
Molasses, I don't miss the humidity back east at all. That's how we get by with our triple digits here humidity is in the teens and below and as the heat goes it, it's sometimes down to single digits.
I know I said it before but freaking Long Island would be 90 and in the 80s for humidity....bring a bar of soap after you walked out your front door and take another bath. LOL
I see you got your stock up stuff from Trader Joe's. I love Everything Bagel's and miss not getting them at Food Maxx but we don't shop there anymore and they are way too expensive at SaveMart and same goes for Winco as they only sell the Sara Lee brand which charges way too much for pocket book. So I buy the plain and onion Winco brand; six bagels are $1.38 and they are very good and nice and thick too! So I can eat a half and get 2 meals out of them.
Good luck with the weeds. job next week after I come home from the dentist.
Thanks Molasses, yeah me too. Unfortunately I checked all meds and itching is a side effect of all.
Yikes Molasses, and I am mad that I went down to 116 again was so sad to hear 4'11 now when they did bone density test.
Oh loved the board walk back in the day Bekah.....we used to go to Coney Island, Palisades and other areas in NJ as grandma had 24 brothers and sisters, so half of Jersey were cousins LOL
I will be doing primary after I get the dentist squared away and then dermatologist. Gyno can be set till after September due to when Medicare says you can go.
Chris hope all is well with you and your family.
Well I am off line and doing meds, breathing etc.
A great weekend to all,
Sue

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Happy Saturday everyone, In the nineties here . Way to hot for me . Stayed in most of the day . A little bit of this and a little bit of that here in the house today .
Sue When football season arrives I will post a picture of Ohio State goose outfit . Becka so sorry about the geese getting hit . Saddens me a lot . We have a pond little way from us and it is usually full of geese and sometimes they come up to our area maybe one or two . These are the flying ones . As we sometimes see them flying over the houses going from or to the pond .
Not sure of a law here like that Bossman . I know we see dead deer on the roads occasionally and there are a lot of them since we live near a dam with a lot of land so they sometimes come up to the highway .
Love Trader Joes Mo, we don't have one very close so don't get there to often . Just an Aldies who either owns Trader Joes or TJ owns them .
We had those paver bricks when we lived here before and it was a mess keeping the weeds and the ants out of them . We moved so that solved that problem . LOL
Well Tomorrow will be 7th day into the new challenge . On the days i do strength I usually only walk the one mile but other days I walk more. The forum I am on on Facebook , I swear some of those gals walk 10 or more miles a day . Personally I don't see why as not of them look like they are getting any thinner but to each his own . The one gal posted she had walked 40 thousand steps in one day . Thats a lot of walking . Me I just try to at least get in 10 thousand and I am happy with that .
Sue I hope you are getting some sleep . I am not any more then what is normal for me about 6 hours and I just went to the doctor and he ask how much I sleep . When I told him only 6 hours he said and I "quote " That's very good!!!!! Will that is the first that I have heard 6 hours is good.
Well , time to do the dishes and straighten up the kitchen then the evening is mine . Trying to get caught of with Blue Bloods on Netflix .
Hi Chris and Yah hope all is well at your houses .

Sue i think the boardwalk would be nice. never been to new jersey. especially years ago. i wonder if it's much different now. Not a big fan of chris christie though.
Bama we have geese everywhere around here. i saw the rest of their clan sitting right next to the road yesterday.
do any of you ever have people stop and take some of the meat off the deer when they are killed by a car and lying on the side of the road. Some people do that here. Not so much in the city but over in WI and further MN they do it more.
I'm not drinking soda for this week just to see the effect on weight loss. 2 days now. I'm on week 2 of biking to a century this week. Swimming i'm still working on form and practicing the breathing 3 count this week.
have a good week.

Hi All,
I am back from our little vacation. We are off work this week too so just relaxing and doing other things. We went to the Cape Breton highlands and had a great time. We drove the Cabot Trail, did a couple of hikes, spent a day at Fortress Louisbourg, took a miner's tour in a coal mine, had a day at the beach, and a day of kayaking and swimming. There was a lot of driving and I am glad to be back.
All in all I think there was something in the vacation for everyone. I am trying to get eating on track and planning to ramp up exercise. In the words of our Sue "ain't getting old grand!"
I only read a few of the posts and seems things are going well for everyone. Have a great day all and I will return soon.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hey, all, Happy Tuesday!
We used to go to the boardwalk years ago, Bekah, but haven't for quite some time. When the kids were little, it was fun to take them, but now we'd rather just go hang out on the beach.
Sorry you are losing inches, Sue! I have a friend at the Y who has scoliosis and osteoporosis and she told me she used to be 5'7". I was shocked, because now she can't be much more than 5'1".
If you ever get to Trader Joe's, for $1.99 you can get a bottle of the Everything seasoning and turn your plain bagels into everything bagels!
I can see why you don't miss the weather in LI! (There's a woman in book club from LI, and I always laugh because she doesn't say Long Eye-land, she says Long Guyland.
) Hope your appt. went well! I went this afternoon also, got two old fillings replaced.
Bama, son told me that Aldi's owned Trader Joe's and I didn't believe him till I looked it up.
We don't have an Aldi's close, but friends in FL shop at one all the time and tell me about their bargains on things like chia seeds--makes me jealous!
Wish I could move to get away from weeds, but not quite ready for that yet!
Yay on not drinking soda, Bekah, and great job on all your varied workouts! You are awesome! I don't think anyone is eating the road kill around here, although there was a scandal in town at least 10 years ago involving a Chinese restaurant that they said were serving road kill deer. Or maybe they were just using it for themselves, but apparently the health inspector stopped by and saw it in the kitchen.
So glad you had a great vacation, Chris! I am not familiar with the Cape Breton highlands, but I have the idea that everywhere in Canada is beautiful!
I think the rain is over so I am off outside to pull some of the weeds that Mother Nature very kindly loosened up for me! I have a blister on palm from scraping up tile in the downstairs bathroom, so I am taking a break from that job and figured weeding is a good alternative. I had a migraine Sunday, and still felt crummy yesterday, so I am way behind on to-do list.
Have a great night, everyone!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Good Morning All!
Yesterday I found a hiking trail for DH and I to try. It was roughly 40 minutes away and we ended up hiking for an hour and a half. Some of that was rough terrain as we jumped from rock to rock on a river/brook bed. We had fun. Spent the afternoon visiting with family. Today is supposed to be the hottest of the week. Not sure what we will be doing today.
Hi Mo, glad your migraine eased up for you. Good luck with your weeding and detileing.
Hi Becky, I know people who would use some road kill. It has to be good quality though. I saw a government car picking up a dead deer off the road on our trip. I know they do this but I don't usually see them.
