here's a pic of nephews. mom says the youngest one could be son. :) They both are really sweet and cute. he was okay with me teasing him about being mr pip squeak. i wouldn't have done it if i though it bothered him. he has a pretty good sense of humor and i am farty pants. and couple other things too.
Your fireworks show sounded wonderful, Bekah....and I feel the same when I hear the star spangled banner at the start of our local's team games each night when they broadcast it. Many here where I am still appreciate it.

Yes I imagine you have some nice fresh wonderfully clean air there.

Certain areas of California are alright but where I live is NOT one of them....you deal with it by staying indoors this time of year.

We have central heating here Bekah. This time of year "heat is not necessary"....overnights are warm till about 5 a.m. when it gets cooler and then by 7 a.m. it starts to heat up again LOL

Yeah driving from Long Island to Washington is a long drive and it was warm that time of year LOL And yes Chuck was an awesome biker (and good looking too IMHO LOL) Plus he also raced and won some top spots at National Speedway on Long Island....met a lot of great race car drivers there too. Held a record there with his Falcon but I can't remember for what now. He's busy doing his registrations so can't ask right now LOL

OMG Bekah I so agree on the looks and influencing people and how they are judged and that's not just in today's world been around for a very long time.

LOL I agree with you Bekah but then you know history with the "Donald" LOL

the fire works was really nice. i'm not unappreciative of country. i love country and there are still many worse places to live by far. i wouldn't have joined the military if i hadn't loved country. just sad at the turn of politics and when the star spangled banner played. :)

warm air is more smoggy than cold i'm not sure why.

neat that chuck is so into biking and racing. he is definitely your kind of guy growing up as you did with your father showing you the mechanics of the car.

definitely been around for a long time with looks. Part of it is human nature i suppose.

have a nice me day Sue and everyone as well. :sunshine:

Afternoon,

Oh Bekah the kids are so cute....and I love the names for each other....when Debbie and I did the volunteer work with the kids we got a lot of names by the kids. Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories.

I didn't think anyone said you were unappreciative of your country....just the opposite...you served it.

Yes I had more "guy" friends than girlfriends the backstabbing and lying and all the baloney they did and were into was NOT up alley. I had several good girlfriends but we were all the same with likes and dislikes, hobby's etc.

Yeah Bekah he did motorcycle racing and racing with his car....the car at National was his big win and time and still hasn't been broken.

You too Bekah, have a nice rest of the weekend.

Same to all of you ladies, take some "me time".

I am off to stories.....and then some games...

Have a nice evening....next Fast and Furious is on our agenda for tonight.....

I took the pic down. But yes kids are so cute and say the cutest things.

i agree i like guy friends better than girls. It's more fun to talk with guys and i agree there is more drama with women. although some guys can be quite dramatic too. it is true too though that women in power are thought more as bitchy versus a man. there is less respect given i think. not in all cases but some. but maybe there is truth to that as well just because they might feel they have more to prove than a man? i don't know.

have a nice weekend Suzie Q! Did anyone ever call you that?? I have another friend named susie is how i thought of it. :)

Bekah, gotcha on the pic. Glad I got to see it.

I had a few close girlfriends and as I like to call them "acquaintances" knew them by name but not much else. I was always "quiet and polite" I was told...however, close friends would beg to differ with that LOL I loved to shop so we had that in common and read too but some of the other stuff we didn't connect on "cars, racing, doing outdoor stuff, the zoo, library and plus I visited grandma and friends I grew up with in Queens.

OK Bekah that was your ONE TIME doing that.....no I don't like it and YES had others do it. Every Susan song that came out was sung.....the only one I liked was The Buckingham's Susan.... least fav was that annoying "Wake Up Little Susie" song. Especially so as it happened to me and a guy I was dating.

Well I am off line now.....have a good night.

Dang, sorry I missed the picture!

I used to like guys better than women, but as I get older, I have gained more of an appreciation for women friends, so now I'd say I don't have a gender preference in friends. :) And yes, some guys can definitely bring in drama!

We've got some golf-ball sized green tomatoes in the garden, but I expect it will be awhile before they are ready to eat. (A few weeks ago, one of the older men at the Y was telling me that his potted tomato plant was flowering, so he went out and bought a jar of mayonnaise--he'll be ready to make his tomato sandwich as soon as the tomatoes ripen! :funny: )

I picked some sugar snap peas this afternoon and steamed them, then tossed them with a soy sauce/hot chili oil mixture. Tasty but some were kind of tough--I should have picked them earlier, I guess. :?

Hope your bunny is okay, Bama. I'm considering joining you in the mile challenge, but don't want to commit unless I"m sure I'll do it. Looks like I have some time to decide.

I agree 100%, Boss Man; forums are meant for an exchange of opinions and ideas, so banning someone for expressing an opposing view is pretty silly.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Sweet dreams!

It probably depends on the person. as long as they are respectful and kind i will like them and i feel it's a mutual friendship and not one sided i would accept anyone as a friend.. :)

i put a pic of nephews in the facebook group mo.

I have a bunny too bama. we named him snickers. he always will hop out when you least expect it. He isn't scared of us either but with the nephews here he got a little bit more "jumpy." :) i feed him a carrot every once in a while. hope your bunny is okay.

Sue i understand you on the songs. When i was little i always liked kenny roger's coward of the county because name was in there. it wasn't till i got older i was a bit embarrassed when i understood the meaning of the song. ha ha

well off to listen to a political party phone conference on volunteering.. :P

Hi All,
We are still relaxing at home for now. DH and I headed out on a little bike ride this morning. We went roughly 12 miles I think. It was a lovely ride on a hot day. Found out this morning that Aunt passed away. She had leukemia and ended up with pneumonia. Pretty sad for Uncle and her family. They did have some warning and got to spend time with her so there is that to be thankful for. Hoping to visit parents tomorrow for the day. We are headed out mid-week to go on our adventure.

I have more gal friends than guy friends but that is more to do with me than them. I grew up with 3 sisters and no brothers so I am more comfortable with girls. No drama though! I can't be bothered with that.

I am always willing to listen to others political and religious beliefs. I will not always agree but I feel they are entitled to their opinions. Everyone should be respectful.
Sounds like you have a nice garden growing there Mo.
Time for bed for me all. TTFN!

Morning all, Well no special men or woman friends. I did before I married . Had a few close Girlfriends and when I was working has some Men co walkers that I really liked . Now I really don't have any 'close" friends

it is so sad to see that there is so much hate in the world today . it is really bad and seems as if we are destroying ourselves. JMHO!!!!!

Nothing planned today . Have to take Grandson to work . He got a job at Krogers , his first job . His Daddy's first job was a Krogers and his Aunts . LOL. I also worked there but it wasn't first job but it was last . It for grandson will only be until he is out of school and his braces as he wants to go in the service . I did not know that you can not go in the service with Braces.

Just wanted to stop in and say "Hey"

Loaded one of James Patterson's book on to the kindle so may start that later today .

Enjoy the day . Rainy weather here .

Afternoon ladies,

I am with you Bekah but I have had fun with both men and ladies and now not an issue but back in younger days I was not the "girly girl" type. Yes I like clothes etc but all the machinations girlfriends went through with the "guy stuff" wasn't cup of tea.

I haven't felt that way about women in power as today for the most part it's part of life. But then I have lived in states where it was going on for many years. OMG yes I know some guys with the "drama thing" going on.

Molasses, yes as I said to Bekah today I have more women friends than men. I just wasn't into the stuff most young girls were just wasn't cup of tea LOL

Oh Molasses, I hope yours ripen soon and that is one lucky guy....I am jealous too. Gosh all this tomato talk is making me want to buy some and have a sandwich. Will have to do so when we do big shopping in August. Our food budget will be tight next time....so only essentials and that's it.

MMMM I love sugar snap peas Molasses, boy wished I lived closer to you LOL

Am sorry they were tough.

I am with you and Bossman Molasses, on what forums are for.

Oh I am jealous of you and Molasses, Bekah with your bunny's....like the name Snickers too but unfortunately brings to mind the Snicker's bars I used to eat LOL

Chris, I see you are relaxing at home. Sounds like a nice bike ride for you and hubby this morning. Very sorry to hear about your aunt's passing condolences to you and her family.

Enjoy your visit with your parents and you mid-week adventure. I had a brother and a sister and a dad that taught me things that most guys would learn. Of course, I think he wanted a boy first, like most men. However, we were buds and he loved that I knew not only the "girl stuff" but the "boy/man stuff too". Especially since many times he spent the time in the city with his mom, especially when we went through the gas crisis and had the odd/even days. He had to take car and his to get to work. However, I was lucky and got rides for college classes and work.

I am with you on listening to others and being respectful.

Bama, I had before and after we got married. Like yourself work friends too. In fact many of which Chuck and I went out with them and their hubby's or boyfriends. Several of which became very good friends.

I am very lucky to have several close friends from the boards I belong too...we write, call and exchange gifts etc.

Bama Chuck and I were talking this morning as there was a story on some kid stuff going on. So much of it today is due to all the changes from when we grew up. If you were bad, you were yelled at, punished, spanked if necessary. Today they have legislated it all out....how they expect to have children that will grow up to be respectful adults is beyond Chuck and I. We both said back in the 80s when the school system started to change and parents didn't conform to what was prevalent in our day.

They don't take "responsibility for any of their actions today"..... In addition all the school stuff is just an abomination too.

Plus which I know you all and many others are on "FB, etc" gives them a forum to show off the crimes, stunts etc they do....more and more violence, crimes and things of that nature are on their now....what can we expect!

Sorry JMHO and in some cases not even opinion it is HAPPENING!

OMG Bama, congrats to your grandson on is first job. I see it's a family thing too. Enjoy James books...we read many of them and then kind of got tired of them.

Wow I didn't know no braces in the service....I asked Chuck and he said nope "probably not".

Well I am off to get stories and do the meds, breathing stuff.

Hope you had a good day and night!

Hi, everyone,

I came upstairs to get away from MBun for a minute, but it didn't work--he followed me up. He wants me to take him outside, but he just wants to bark at a groundhog who is hiding under the rain barrel by the back door. But a) he doesn't need to give the poor thing a heart attack and b) he doesn't need to get his nose bitten.

Hope all is well with everyone; looks like it has been very quiet here.

I went to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning, and as usual, they are recommending more work--replacement of two old fillings in back molars. I have three old amalgams left, so if I re-do these two, there'll only be one left for them to up-sell me for next time. I hate that they are always trying to get me back in the chair, but that's the trade-off for going for the $99 cleaning/exam; they want to make up the difference. Can't blame them, I guess.

The handyman whose name I got from friend at the Y cancelled for Monday night. He had to work late at his regular job. He wanted to come last night, but I had a personal training appt. I think I'll probably see if I can find someone who does the work as their regular job so it doesn't drag out for weeks. I called someone else today, but they haven't called back. One guy came to look who got good reviews on Angie's List, but I think DH ticked him off by insisting on a written estimate; he upped his verbal by 20% when he sent over the written. :|

Hope you can snag some tomatoes on sale, Sue. :)

Congrats to your grandson, Bama! I wonder if the braces thing is because they don't have orthodontists at the base clinics, or if it has to do with cutting the inside of your mouth if you get bumped in the face during physical training. Will he be a senior this coming fall?

Ugh, it's too hot up here; I have to go back downstairs. Sweet dreams, everyone!

Evening all, I just watched an 81 year old Body Builder on Little Big Shots-Forever Young. Nice for sure .

On the braces, I am not sure as of yet why but I did read that the Service doesn't want to mess up their Treatment. I am not sure on this going to check out a little further .

Am enjoying going to the Y and hope to get there in the am but they are calling for a storm so may have to skip it . This week the regular Teacher is on vacation and we had a sub. We really really like her but this is the only week we have her. I want to get into the weight room and may make an appointment for someone to take me around and show me the machines. It has been a while since I have used them and probably should get a refresher coarse .

Tomorrow is the 100th and last day of the challenge I am doing . I am taking the weekend off but will start again on Monday . We are doing it as a group on facebook.

Yes, Mo Grandson will be a senior this year.

Need to get to bed as we get up early .

Afternoon ladies,

Molasses, I see Mbun want to go out and you don't. In addition he is not happy about the groundhog I see. Yikes on the stuff....mind boggling to me and I also read what you wrote and we both are hearing shaking our heads at what they charge today. I finally have mine on July 27th.

I am with you on another handyman that this kind of work is his "main job".

Yeah me too on the tomatoes Molasses. We shall see.

Oh Molasses, remember the heat issues the higher we went in house or apartments.

Wow on the 81 year old Body Builder Bama, so cool. I see you are enjoying going to the & and I hope you were able to go and the storm didn't cause you to skip it. Smart move on the machines.

Congrats on the 100th day challenge and completing it. Enjoy the next one.

Hope you slept well and had a good Thursday.

Well I am off to comics and then meds, breathing and lay down. Looking forward to frittata I made up for me and Chuck has his own too....so 3 more meals after tonight nice and economical......I like that. LOL

Hope you all had a great day and wishing you a wonderful evening,

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Was a happy day for me anyway. I was up at 5 to do the opening shift, but when I got to the Y, there was a kid in the parking lot who said he was there to work the wellness floor. boss had told me she had someone new starting who would take the Sat. shift for me (yay!) but because he hadn't started training during the week, I assumed that she was talking about next week. But apparently she told him to show up for this morning, and he said he didn't need training because he's been working at the Y (in child care) and working out there, too, I turned around and came back home till personal training appt. at 10.

I saw some of the clips of Ernestine with Steve Harvey on FB, Bama--too funny with the outfit and all, but seriously impressive! Great job on the 100 days! That is impressive, too!

Glad you have the dentist scheduled, Sue, and hope your appt. goes smoothly! I made frittata last week with asparagus and red pepper and some boiled potatoes leftover from making potato salad. Whenever I make it, I always think, "why don't I make this more often?!"

Hi, Chris, Bekah, and YAH!

Have a wonderful Sunday~

Afternoon ladies,

Well getting ready to go play some games till hubby gets up....

Molasses, sorry you got up so early and you didn't have to...I did a Google search on Steve Harvey and it's on YouTube...too funny....

Sending congrats along with Molasses, Bama!

Thanks Molasses, me too on the appointment. They all seemed nice and we shall see.

I am with you Molasses, we hadn't had a frittata in a while.....I made his and hers. I count lucky stars that so many years back I got Prevention magazine and got that yummy and easy recipe out of it. LOL

Well off to Bookworm.....

Hope everyone had a nice weekend....

Sue
