Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Well, yeah, Boss, I can see why you'd say that given the political climate these days.
I've never had treacle, but it sounds pretty delicious!
Your nephews sound like fun, Bekah. Little kids can be so sweet. I hope the little guy outgrows his heart issue and doesn't need surgery, but thank goodness for all the modern medical technology if it does come to that.
I feel that the saddest part of what's going on politically is how nasty and divisive it's gotten. It's like we can't disagree without thinking everyone on the "other side" is bad, or stupid, or whatever.
Sending more healing thoughts your way, Sue, and hope by now your stomach is feeling fine.
Nice to see you again, Bama. condolences on your loss. I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. Great job on keeping up with the walking challenge despite how you're feeling. Congrats on the smaller pants--I'd take shrinking in size over a smaller number on the scale any day! That was nice of Comey, and I'm sure your nephew is deserving! No wonder you are proud!
It is cooler here today, but oh so sticky. I worked till 1, then went to the library, grocery store and gas station, came home for a bit and went back for a training session at 3:45. I am looking forward to having a day at home tomorrow--I won't have to go out till evening, when I have book club. We read Jennifer Egan's A Visit from the Goon Squad, which I believe won a Pulitzer. It had its moments but overall it was fairly depressing, so I wouldn't really recommend it.
Still looking for a handyman to redo the downstairs bathroom--DH turned off the water to the toilet and pulled up the laminate, but now we need the floor tiled, the toilet replaced, the sink faucet and ceiling fan/heater replaced, trim re-done. . . I can do the painting myself but I've never done ceramic tile. If we can't find a good handyman soon, I may tackle the tile myself.
DD and her hubby managed to tile their kitchen and bathroom, and it came out really nice. Wish they lived closer! Someone is supposed to come Monday night to look at the job, see if he's interested.
I'd better get moving here. Wishing everyone sweet dreams!

i don't think i will talk politics anymore on here. Talking politics with someone that disagrees with you does no good. It's very unlikely you will sway their opinion anyways.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Very true on Politics, I never discuss them unless I know how the person feels . I was on a another board for many years and was blocked because views were different than the administrators . So best to keep quiet about them .
LOL Mo, I see I still can't spell his name correctly . That shows how much I pay a attention to the news media and politics.
Going out to dinner tonight so taking it easy on work out . Did get out and walk a mile plus upper body Strength .
Oh if anyone is interested . Ernestine the 80 year old body builder will be on the Steve Harvey show Wednesday night . Little Big Shots-Forever Young . She started training at the age of 71 .
Thank you Boss Man . Felt good to pull a smaller size out of the closet . Now on to the next size.
Really hard to control eating when you are home all the time but am getting out a couple days a week now . Next week I hope to start back on the Machines at the Y So far just taking the Silver Sneakers classes . They are a little mild to me but something different and different is always good. You can certainly get into a rut with your exercise plan .

i will say this that is not what makes me the saddest. net nuetrality being taken away, national parks being sold off, immigrants who served in the military and now have there visas revoked, maxiumum sentences for minor offense like marijauana, being good buddies with the russians, poor kids school lunch programs being cut, 22 million people with healthcare needs wanting to be cut. some of society's most vulnerable, hud housing being cut which would make some people homeless, a president that won on the platform he ran on. free press being limited and attacked That makes me sad. really sad actually. obama said though don't argue with strangers on the internet and instead do something and that is what i am doing. i'm volunteering for the 2018 election. even this weekend.Fitafter50 wrote:

Yes, some of those things are very sad, Bekah, (and I'd throw the gutting of the EPA in there, too
), but I still think that if we all could quit demonizing those who disagree with us, we might be able to find some common ground and work out our country's problems. Enjoy your weekend political activism, and good for you for putting your beliefs into action!
Ernestine is so inspiring, Bama--thanks for the info. Yay on joining the Y!
Ouch, sorry on being blocked. Hope you have a nice dinner out.
Happy Friday, everyone!

i forgot the EPA and climate change and trying to deregulate certain things that were put into place after the economic problems in the early 2000's.
i know a lot of republicans and i know they are some good people a lot of times. I don't however know of many republicans that are politicians that i like. but i don't have a lot in personal circle that represent me. i have 2 democrat senators and governor, state legislatures are democrats and congressman is republican but i don't like him and will volunteer on the opposing side in the next election. He only won by a slim margin last time.
i'm a passionate person that feels things deeply. I also really struggle with impulsivity on certain things at times and that sometimes comes across when i post on here. . it's not a major issue for me but i can be impulsive on stuff like purchases, etc.
i don't mean to demonize republicans. mom is republican as are a lot of other people i know.

Hi ladies,
Molasses, I am with you on opinions. I have had many tell me I shouldn't be so vocal and I said say to them hey everyone's entitled to their opinions. Unfortunately they are like a-holes everyone has one. LOL
I had a sign in every place I worked on stand up file and it's still on the one I have today...."IF YOU CAN'T STAND THE ANSWER, DON'T ASK THE QUESTION."
I always had someone in office asking opinion of something or someone....and I'd point to sign after I answered and they weren't happy with it. LOL
We don't even watch any of shows anymore Molasses, just for that reason everyone today is so nasty and negative....and as our man Bill Murphy would say in Scrooged....."I don’t care!". Even better is Mel's remark in Lethal Weapon about the sign that says "No Smoking" his reply was I don't give a (insert F word) LOL
No butter at all Molasses....have never liked it I used to eat sunflower seeds when I was young and love to eat almonds themselves. Used to love sourdough bread but now old body says NOPE! I cried and still am so sad I can't eat PB any longer and I never liked honey even as a kid.
I don't miss the humidity in the city, or I should say, Queens since that's where I lived and since we lived so close to LaGuardia the smell and the planes flying over didn’t help our air quality either.
When moved to Long Island because we were surrounded by water the humidity was terrible. 90 freaking degrees and 85% humidity. You'd leave the house and by the time you walked to your car you were sopping wet....as we went to go out to dinner.
I am sure you have the same thing in your neck of the woods as when we visited and went to Trenton and outlying areas for our annual picnics and reunions usually in August (our hottest month).
Thanks for the hugs and healing thoughts Molasses, they helped.
Yeah I am fine with the thermostat set at 82 or even 84 or 85 but Chuck is sweating bullets.
About the only thing he and mom agreed on was the ice box she had the house at. Chuck would stay inside and chit chat while dad and I went outside to warm up LOL
Oh so your sweetie pie likes to catch those Frisbee's.....used to do that with Alex too.
Ohhhh Bekah your nephew sounds like such a sweetie pie. So sorry to hear about his health issues and hope all works out for the best for him.
Ohhhhhh I wish I was there Bekah I could have sang with the boys LOL
Your fireworks show sounded wonderful, Bekah....and I feel the same when I hear the star spangled banner at the start of our local's team games each night when they broadcast it. Many here where I am still appreciate it.
Yes I imagine you have some nice fresh wonderfully clean air there.
Certain areas of California are alright but where I live is NOT one of them....you deal with it by staying indoors this time of year.
We have central heating here Bekah. This time of year "heat is not necessary"....overnights are warm till about 5 a.m. when it gets cooler and then by 7 a.m. it starts to heat up again LOL
Yeah driving from Long Island to Washington is a long drive and it was warm that time of year LOL And yes Chuck was an awesome biker (and good looking too IMHO LOL) Plus he also raced and won some top spots at National Speedway on Long Island....met a lot of great race car drivers there too. Held a record there with his Falcon but I can't remember for what now. He's busy doing his registrations so can't ask right now LOL
OMG Bekah I so agree on the looks and influencing people and how they are judged and that's not just in today's world been around for a very long time.
LOL I agree with you Bekah but then you know history with the "Donald" LOL
Ahh your poor nephew.....shame on you Bekah!
I had to go look "Treacle" up Bossman and I saw "Black treacle is a dark, sticky form of dark molasses and is used on many popular British cakes and puddings known for their distinctive taste."
I don't like sweet stuff like that nor very sweet syrup. I would put powdered sugar on stuff. We used Log Cabin Syrup growing up but it got a sweeter taste over the years and I stopped using it. Same goes for Aunt Jemima
Nancy sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Very sorry to hear about your BIL's passing. Sounds like it was for the best and condolences to you, your hubby and your family.
Great job on the Great Walk Challenge. Hey weight is coming off in inches rather than pounds that's a good thing.
HUGs on less time for yourself.
Oh the poor Bunny. Bama. I sure hope he's alright.
Congrats to your nephew, Bama, you've talked of him before and he sounds like a wonderful young man.
Oh Bama, we loved Virginia traveled the whole state and Chuck picked Virginia Tech for his grad school and I got accepted to the Management Housing and Family Development Department and got Masters in Child Development.
Chuck continued his Ph.D. in Rochester, NY a familiar place to him as he lived in Buffalo for many many years before and after he got married.
We think sometimes we should have stayed and just retired there but gosh the snow and cold just got to us and racing season it freaking rained most of the time.
Hence our move to California.....which we loved. Glad we got the chance to come cross country and see all the sites....couldn't do it today.
All to say I don't blame them to not want to leave Virginia. We thought when we were talking about moving about going back as Vtech grads are treated very well there.
Oh Bama, I am so sorry to hear about the losses of family members....so hard and yes I agree on the 3's that's it now.
Poor Bunny....maybe he's hungry. Maybe toss him some carrots or other veggies.
I am with Bossman Bama, on the muscle much better.
Yes tummy is much better Molasses....as you know from what I told you......I refuse to say anything on today's fodder other than in emails.....due what I have said and history with ????????
I see you had one busy Thursday Molasses. Yuck on the sticky weather. I see Book Club on Friday. Yeah don't like depressing stories.
I've done tile with dad many times but also was many years ago too. Hope the guy shows and can do it for you.
You know what thoughts on this Bekah......
Same here Bama and those that are different than mine are entitled to their opinion. Friendship is more important to me than politics. However, if they don't want to be a friend because of it....I say bye and wish them the best. One person wrote back and told me they did it as they thought I'd change mind...told them NOPE you should have known better.
So what's on tap for dinner Bama!
No comments on the politics. Plus time for me to sign off and do the meds, breathing, stretch out thing.
Have a nice weekend all.....
Sue

Then he was an idiot. Unless people debate stuff by using offensive language or pictures as examples you can't ban people for a differing viewpoint.Alabama 1 wrote:I was on a another board for many years and was blocked because views were different than the administrators . Otherwise you get people saying I banned someone for saying Trump is a foul mouthed malcontent. or they disagreed with our sacred second amendment and said it should be revoked, but if the person running the site was a gun toting Trump bummer that means the more liberal minded person should be sanctioned against?
Frankly people like that shouldn't be allowed to oversee any internet forum based facility, because corrupted power coupled with administrative bias erodes free speech.

i saw something on facebook the other day. friends don't let friend post political comments on FB. ha ha i won't post anymore political.. I just get frustrated. i apologize. I think volunteering will help because i have people i can talk too about frustrations and feelings that agree with me.
I had someone in the military try to convert me to being a republican once. even wanted to give me a book to read.
i can't respond more. I'm on laptop in a awkward position.

Morning all,
Well it's already 86 degrees and we are headed to 108.....can you guess what's going on this a.m. LOL
Bossman I agree with you 100%. Unfortunately people don't want others to have opinions different than theirs which to me is a bowl of "you know what" LOL
Bekah, you know how I feel about stuff already and what I've said to you about feeling the way you do.
Enuff said....I am tired of hearing about "IT"......yes "IT" as that's what he is IMHO
On that note off to check mail, eat, do bathrooms, take care of peppers and scallions (doing routine with baking soda wash) and deal with Lucy and Ethel too.
I have already decided fare for tonight on the CSBM network.....ALL THE MARBLES with buddy Peter Falk and the gals with one of our favorite sayings.....'THESE FRILLS COST MONEY' LOL
Have a nice weekend,
Sue

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi Everyone, I agree we are allowed our opinions .
On a happier note . It is nice here today not hot but in the low 80's. Good weather for being outside.
Didn't do much today . Just played on the puter, read a book on the Kindle . Trying to get some James Patterson loaded onto it. So far not successful but will keep trying.
Have some tomato plants on patio and they have quite a few tomatoes on them . LOL Can't wait for them to ripen . I will probably have to buy some before as I put the plants out late. Love BLT's.
Father was quite active in Politics . He actually was a delegate one year but I won't mention what year or what party . Not that I am ashamed but there is no sense in opening a can of worms . I learnt lesson on another forum .
We are starting another challenge on one of facebook groups . Actually the one I am just finishing . 1 mile a day for 100 days. I mile is pretty easy to do . So Chris if you want to join me or anyone else , you are welcome . it starts on the 17 . and of course you can do more if you want . It just has to be at least one mile.
Time to turn the tube on and see if I can find anything to watch . Not much going on this time of the year .
enjoy

What you Father did in politics should not need to be something to hide if you don't want to. You're not on some other board, you're on this one.
What you feel about politics regardless of what he felt shouldn't be an issue. You're an honest decent person and I believe you wouldn't be posting anything controversial anyway, but it's still your choice

Thank you Boss Man , I appreciate your thoughts on the situation . I am very proud of Father who was a Judge and quite well know in our area. A good and decent man .
Good Morning , All is quiet here in Ohio. The birds are chirping and I see a Bunny Rabbit in yard. So all is good here . Looks to be a nice day for sure.
Not a lot planned , I did get workout in a 3 mile walk plus some ab work. so that is finished for the day .
Enjoy the day

Good Sunday to all,
Ah yes the 80's Bama, we see them in our overnights or very early mornings. Glad yours is so nice.
You deserve a quiet day with all you've had to deal with lately. heart goes out to you. Sorry on the James Patterson both Chuck and I have read many of his over the years.
MMMMM I love tomatoes..... dad and I had them in our garden, some years were good, some not. Luckily we had a farm stand (lovely local family on the way to the pool club we belonged to) so got to stop and buy some on our way home. Me too, love BLT's too.
I think that is so neat about your dad. I loved going to court and watching the trials and all. Yeah me too on a forum Bama...their loss I'd say.
I see you are starting another challenge, wishing you the best. And this is why we have the CSBM network Bama LOL
Thanks Bossman I agree with you.
I see a quiet morning Bama....I was up till 5:30 a.m., dozed for a bit in chair and got up and went into bed for about an hour. Yup birds are chirping here too and while we don't have a Mr. Bunny Rabbit, we have a cute little squirrel here. In fact Chuck has to take his pics off his camera. I see you got your workout in.....and a nice one too....have a wonderful Sunday.
Everyone hope your Sunday is a nice one....we are headed to another HOT one of 107 and OMG the LA wimps they hit their record high yesterday of 98.....bite us, us central valley people say....we can do 98 standing on our heads LOL
Well off to a quick mail check, get stories and breakfast and "me day".
Have a wonderful day,
Sue
