Hi ladies,
Well better late than never........
May Report
May went very well workout wise as only missed two Wednesday morning workouts and we went shopping instead so got lots of walking in. Then a third due to "no sleep" the night before. So a much better month than the last one.
Start date for June was June 1st which was a Thursday so evening workout only..... walking/dancing/light jog in place. On Friday the second it was a walk to the office and evening workout WHW Lift More, Lose More 15 Minute workout (Dead lift to High Pull, Curl to lunge press, Triceps Extension and Chest Press and fly (4 sets of 10 reps)
So yes I am continuing the evening workout from May in June also. With all the discombobulating stuff going on here with mouth, the computer dying etc. didn't have time an this report is already 12 days late.
For MWF mornings week 1 was Winsor Pink Pilates workout with band arms with warm up and cool down and evening workout WHW Lift More, Lose More 15 Minute workout (Dead lift to High Pull, Curl to lunge press, Triceps Extension and Chest Press and fly (4 sets of 10 reps); Week 2 Winsor Pink Pilates workout with band legs with warm up and cool down and will continue evening workout WHW Lift More, Lose More 15 Minute workout (Dead lift to High Pull, Curl to lunge press, Triceps Extension and Chest Press and fly (4 sets of 10 reps) for this month. For weeks 3 and 4 will repeat weeks 1 & 2 again.
Food goals: Food goals have not changed but remain the same...continue to take vitamin D, and keep up the increase in the fruits and veggies in diet, and try some different type of veggies, which we have been doing well with. Also continue to try out some different recipes, which had we are bound and determined this year to do better with. I will also continue with the getting in chocolate several times a week. PB is no longer an eating option for me. As for desserts we have made a switch and am keeping portion controls as I need to. Our soups mixed with egg noodles are working out great giving up lots of veggies and the sauce is already included; in addition to getting 2 dinners out of a can. Plus tummy likes it too LOL We will continue to have them over other types of noodles, like little farfalle and ditalini pasta too.
We have made up a number of the following ideas for dinners and just adding to our menu. In addition we have a number of ideas for different bases to go over pasta, making casseroles, etc. Plus making calzones, and pastry filled with vegetables and other filling to add to our diet for even more variety. We did a test one and it worked out great.
Trying to continue a variety of foods in our diet. Doing very well getting fish into diet having it on most Friday's and have also been getting it in during the week also. In addition adding diced peppers, potatoes, corn, spinach and other veggies to go with the fish has worked out well too. Still have had to be careful on portions as stomach still rebels on occasion, hence no weight gain in 2017 and slowly increase portion sizes to maybe put some weight on. Some weeks it goes up but then comes right back down again. Wish me luck.

Sounds like you had a decent May, Sue .
Not much going on here. I have been busy sewing and just the normal day to day stuff.
I am on day 70 of 100 day challenge to walk as least 1 mile a day . Sometimes I do more but usually no more than 4 miles. It is hot here . Yesterday quite a storm and hoping today will be a little cooler .
Weight really hasn't changed but a pound or two . It seems to go down and then up and then back down . Could be all those brownies I have been eating . need to learn to control that !!!!!!!
Finally got Hubby to a Doctor . He hadn't been since 1977 . Oh yeah . His idea is if you are not sick don't go.
Taking to the Dentist today to start braces . he should have had them when he was much younger but no sense in crying over spelt milk . As you can see nothing exciting happens here .
Friends past last week . She was 17 . She was born with FA Fanconi anemia which there is no cure for . She had been in the hospital for 4 months building her system up for a bone Marrow transplant and after that took a turn for the worse . Very sad indeed . There were over a 1000 people at her funeral . We did not go as it was held quite a distance from our town.
Well Hope all are well. I did not go back and try to get caught up . Take care everyone .

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
I"m sorry to hear about your friend's loss, Bama. So sad. Great job on your challenge! I just finished a push-up/squat/lunge 30 day challenge. Now have to figure out what I want to do next, after I start feeling better. ( immune system, which I'm always bragging on, has let me down--I started getting a sore throat on Sat., had a killer migraine on Sun., and have been feeling fluish--cough, body aches, runny nose.
) I hope your DH got a clean bill of health then--40 years of not needing a doctor is pretty impressive! Wishing your grandson good luck with his braces.
Glad May was a good month for you, Sue.
Good luck with your plans for June. I hope your mouth is feeling better?
I do freeze berries, Bekah, and then use them for smoothies or crisps. Today I took 12 sandwich bags full of strawberries to the Y to give away--I picked two colanders-full yesterday so froze one and shared the other. Need to get out there again today, but it's not fun to be out bending over when I'm already achey and have a head full of "rakka."
grandpa had a big garden and gramma used to freeze a lot of corn--she'd cut if off the cob and mix it up with (I think) salt, pepper, butter and a little sugar, and it was so delicious.
I don't try to grow corn anymore though--the last time something (raccoons?) peeled every last ear and left the cobs bare of kernels, still on the stalks. Too frustrating!
Hope your son enjoyed his class trip, Chris, and you and your family are all well.
We had 3 days of very hot weather, sunny and mid-90s, but today is only 82. Which would be a relief except the humidity has risen faster than the temps dropped. Oh, well--it's summer, what can you do??
Wishing everyone a happy hump day!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi ladies,
Sorry for being MIA so much.
Molasses I see you have been a busy lady also. Oh so very sorry about the mom of a Y member passed and one of your clients too. condolences to both families.
Yes got some catch up on sleep and shopping went fine. I always loved coconut now pineapple was another story....HATED IT.......and would only eat the ham that didn't have the pineapple piece on it.
I got a list of dentists to call. However, didn't bother since the office here had front and back entrances blocked off and Handyride won't just park outside of complex and wait.
Chris I see you have sunshine too and glad you got your walks in. Wow on your son's first trip away from home. Yes very warm as we are headed to 105 by Sunday so heat warnings all over the place. I just hope our a/c keeps up with it all.
Bekah, I see we share the love of berries. We buy ours in frozen form already and love how long they last.
I used to use a lot of salt...cut down when they told me too, as BP was high. Now I am eating the pretzels and using extra salt again as with cutting down and drinking do much water...it was too low. Mind you I am o 3 different Blood pressure pills.....go figure.
Bama, lazy is good sometimes. Hope the basketball game went in your favor.
Yes Bama, had a pretty good May. I see you've been sewing... least favorite thing in the whole wide world. I have stuff I have to sew but still haven't' done it LOL
Kudos on your challenge. Nice challenge too. MMMM brownies....I wouldn't be able to control myself with them either.
Well I have to admit Bama, your hubby's philosophy was mine....if I felt fine why go. Only one I had to go to was gyno for meds and check ups.
Hope the dentist appointment went well for **** Luckily I didn't need braces but many of friends I grew up with did.
Sorry your friends daughter passed away. So so sad.... condolences to the family.
Wow Molasses, on the challenge....I wish I could do the regular push ups but can't any longer with illness and like Bama, the lunges hurt knees.
HUGS on the immune system....been there, done that so I can feel for you.
Thanks on the month of May and yeah enjoying workouts and June so far. Yes it is feeling better the Winco brand orajel is helping a lot.
Wow I wish I was there to take some of those strawberries off your hands Molasses. Sorry about not feeling well.
Yeah our Uncle Jim in NJ (who used to hold the yearly reunions) had a lot of land and most of it farming so he had a ton of stuff. Sorry about the animals eating your corn.
I don't miss that humidity at all only way we get by with some of the temps we get....we are headed to 105 on Sunday boo hiss.
Well all caught up and off to the funnies.
Sue

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hi All,
Well where has the time gone? son had a good trip away. He thought it a bit boring as there was an educational component to it (museums and the like). I am still waiting on someone for private lessons on the bagpipe as he is out of town. He should be back today so we will see. I am still practicing and doing best. I do get out usually once or twice on the weekend with DH for a walk or bike ride. Yesterday it was a bike ride. I need to add some focus on exercising so I will do best to get walks in this week. This is the last week of school for the kiddos here!!!
No more making lunches for me and I should be able to get to work earlier which also means I can go home earlier.
I think that is it for me for now.
Have a great day all!

Hi All,
I was lucky enough to get a 45 minute walk in at lunchtime.
It is hot and humid out there but it is all good.
It didn't stop me from walking and at least I am able to walk. Now I think I will work a bit in front of the fan.
Have a great day all!

Hi ladies,
Already 100 here and our normal low humidity and dew points are not low so real feel is 110. Not good.
Chris, Chuck and I are with you on the time....goes by so darn fast. Glad your son's trip was good. Now me I would have loved the museums and stuff like that. Hope the guy for private bag pipe lessons gets back soon. Good for you on the practicing. Nice you and hubby get out together with bike rides and walks.
Good luck with the walks this week. Nice you can go home earlier soon too.
I see you got a nice walk in at lunch time today. Yuck on the hot and humid for you too. Yes a/c is one here and fans are going too.
Hope your day goes well.
Molasses, Bekah, Bama, YAH hope you all are doing well.
I am off to get some off line work done before lunch.
Sue

Hey, all,
Hot and sticky here, too. The humidity rising puts so much pressure on head! I had to take a sumatriptan in the wee hours of Sat. morning, but at least it worked so the day was not a waste.
Ugh, sorry to see you are feeling some humidity, too, Sue.
Hope your AC is keeping up. Love the Nights in White Satin link--that was a big favorite of mine.
Yay on the walk, Chris! Glad your DS had a safe trip anyway.
Hope the last week of school goes well for both boys.
Speaking of how fast time goes: DD turned 31 yesterday.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Nice to get out earlier for work Chris. Are bagpipe lessons expensive? piano is very much so. I'm holding off till fall for mine just to save some money. In the fall i will take them twice a month only for 30 minutes just to cut back on cost too. good that are still practicing though.
Great song Sue! Definitely hope your ac continues to work. It was hot here for a while and now it's cool 70ish.
Hope the heat doesn't last long for either of you Sue or Mo.
That is how mom makes frozen corn too Mo. Right from the farmers field. It's one of favorites.
Time definitely does go fast sometimes.

Hopefully the right person shows up eventually, as you don't want someone coming to show you how to improve your pipe bag technique, as you are learning a musical instrument after all, not trying to improve your cake making skillschriscandothis wrote:I am still waiting on someone for private lessons on the bagpipe as he is out of town.

As for the Moody's, Justin Hayward did the vocals on Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds and Denny Lane some years after leaving the Moody's was in Wings with Paul McCartney, as Macca remembered him from a time when the Moody's performed at the same venue at least once, if not more than once, with the Beatles.
I'm not sure if that documentary made mention of this, as I didn't watch it, but the original inspiration for their name came from a company, who ran pubs / drinking establishments in the English Midlands called Mitchell and Butler, who helped to finance and promote the group, but after a while they pulled out and the Moody's decided to change the name, but base their new name on the initials of the pub company M & B.

Hey All,
No walk yet today as it was raining cats and dogs over lunch time. I will try for later.
Thanks for your wry (or rye?) humour Boss Man. I am sure the neighbours would rather the cake making skills.
I am not sure the price of the private lessons yet Becky. The pipe band has an academy associated with it to give lessons to those interested. It is a non-profit organization and the lessons are at a bargain. That is only September to June though. I suspect the private lessons will be much more.
I hope your humidity breaks for you soon Mo. That doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
Thanks Sue. I did talk to the guy I have asked for lessons from and we will try and set something up. Got to take things one step at a time.
TTFN!

Afternoon ladies,
Another "really hot" day and in addition gardeners are here kicking dust into the air. Luckily don't have to go out and a/c is on along with fans. Don’t even want to think of our PG&E bill. LOL
Molasses, I don't miss the humidity back east at all; especially on Long Island or in NYC. While we are higher than our norm...I am beginning to think our Accuweather site here I funky as dew point has been at 67 for a good week now....methinks they need to something LOL
The last thing we need is a high dew point and humidity as we are all used to a "dry heat". That was Lousy 's saving grace but it got worse humidity wise in our last years. Plus at midnight it would still be 100 plus at least here we go down some.
Nights in White Satin was a fav of mine too, Molasses. Plus many others they did too. Oh wow Molasses, how time does fly. Wish her a belated Happy Birthday for me.
Bekah, glad you enjoyed the song and yes us too, on the a/c we won't see the 70s for a very long time.
Oh it will last till September Bekah....a fact of life here some years even into October.
Thanks Bossman as that was something I did not know......
Chris, sorry the rain but the kibosh on your walk. Let's hope you can find someone that doesn't charge an arm and a leg, Chris. Glad you talked to the guy and hope it works out. Yup I am familiar with the "one step at a time" motto..
Well I am off to lunch time...
Grocery shopping to tomorrow so will be MIA for the morning.
Have a great Tuesday......
Sue

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
There is a documentary on Youtube originally done by the BBC called Rock Family Trees The Birmingham Beat, if I've remembered the name correctly, where the Moody's are mentioned along with bands like the Move and one or two others.
