The workout tomorrow, and likely alot of yard work as the weather is supposed to be near 80...yeehaw. Probably scare the neighbors, and put some shorts on, maybe get first burn of the year. Church Sunday, followed by a big ham dinner at Mothers place (right next door) with family. Off mon. and tues from work, will be in the garage, working on a Mits Eclipse, and VW Beetle I'm restoring, maybe take the scoot for a spin.....so were you working out in the Sun today, or just workin' on ur tan?

...yuh the cow pic...a gift from Les, eat more beef.

Hah scare off the neightbours, sincerely doubt it man. Wow where did you get a beetle? parents had one when they were young, and I were still a mere twinkle in dads eye. Love the sound of those things! I had a jog in the sun today yes, then fell asleep in the sun for 2 hours when I came back.

Sounds like a good day! Actually have two of them, there around, but usually need alot of work due to rust issues. I tear them down to the bare bones, and build from there, lots of welding, new metal etc. Hope to have this one on the road sometime this year, but she'll never see Winter again, as long as I own her. They cover the roads with salt, and liquid calcium, which loves to feed on metal. The sound is definately unique, and looking forward to hearing it again soon. Do you ever see any Beetles around where you are? Sounds like you don't.

When I was a kid you'd see them more frequently. Nowadays you'll have to go to auto shows or parades to catch a glimpse. Do you restore other old cars as well? I've got a few friends who has restored american cars like Impalas, always envied their guts. We have loads of salt on the roads around here too in the winter, definitely a common complaint.

Coffee should be severely limited or cut altogether.

The Xanthines in Caffeine can convert to Uric Acid increasing Gout risk.

The Caffeine blocks Iron absoprtion.

The Caffeine stimulates the Heart and may constrict bloodvessels to some extent, thereby potentially reducing the ability for Oxygen to flow around the body. If the Bloodvessels were quite problematic in places with buildup of things like Arterial Plaque or Atheromas, (you wouldn't be aware of this if they were), the Vasoconstricting effect could increase Heart attack risk theoretically, because you'd have quite a bit of Arterial bloackage already, restricting bloodflow, plus the blocked Iron absorption could negatively impact on your Red Blood Cell, (Erythrocyte), levels, increasing Anaemia risk, plus such things may increase Blood Pressure problems and lowered Oxygen content and / or delivery in blood, just reduces the amout of Oxygen, cells and muscles can get, which could reduce athletic potential.

So anything like an energy drink with Caffeine, Guarana, (a Caffeine carrier), or Caffeine pills before workouts are best avoided I feel. Despite what makers of such things tell you about zoning into workouts better, more alertness etc, don't bother because due to the potentially increased Heart stimulation and possible restriction of bloodflow and Oxygenation to cells and muscles, I feel it would more than outweigh the benefits, of so-called increased alertness during workouts. That stuff is almost certainly marketing B.S. coupled with the usual hype.

Caffeine also can cause Stomach Ulcers and Heartburn for some people.

So I'm not saying never drink Coffee, but if you want antioxidents, you can get them in things like Beans, Peas, Corn, Veggies and Fruit and things like Vegetable and Fruit based drinks, like Innocent Smoothies, Adez, Vie Shot etc etc. Not sure if such drinks are sold in America.

Just viewpoint, not being snarky :).

Very good point, and I appreciate the input. It has crossed mind recently to drop it all-together.

Be aware that if you do you will probably experience a few withdrawal symptoms for a few days. Most who do it say it's a Headache response. It's just the body bitching about the lack of Caffeine it's used to, but like small children, once you stop pandaing to it's whims, it should tow the line

Sat. 4-3-10

Box Squat--12x65, 12x95, 155/12,10,9,8

DB Step-ups--60/12,12,12

DB Side Laterals--8lb./20,16,13

DB Shoulder Press--30lb./12,8,5

Tried BB mil. press to front, but shoulder's were creaking, and snapping so I stopped, maybe switch to upright rows next time. Step-ups were very difficult after the squats, but I got through them, barely. Side lateral were only 8lb. DB's, but I would explode up, and lower slowly, and delt's were burning bad by the end, and it kept press #'s low.

Diet: Only had two cup's of coffee today, like actual 6-8oz. cups as opposed to usual cup.....16-20oz. One Truvia, and small amount of FF creamer was plenty. Things are beginning to taste different as far as I'm noticing sweet tastes alot more, like it stands out that something is sweet, not sure if this is related to cutting out M&M's, as I would nibble on those all day....hm. Got to be outside topless today.....it was sooooo nice (the weather... :) )

I had a "normal" yoghurt today that was so sweet I could barely get it down. I'm definitely tasting sugar a lot better after I cut out candy and most other sugary foods.

Same here...even orange juice seems sweeter, funny how your taste buds change.

Mon. 4-5-10

Flat Bench (5X5)--12x45, 12x95, (5x5) 130lbs.

Incline Bench--115/12,11,8,10

Triceps Extension--55/12,12,12,12 (60 next time)

I am going to try a 5x5 on flat bench. As follows:

Take 80% of current 5 rep max, and start the 5x5 with that weight.
90 Seconds rest between sets.
If I complete the 5x5 with that weight.....next time add 5lbs.
See how far I can go.....any comments?

Also, going to try sticking with a certain group of exercises for awhile, as I change so often it's hard to keep track of how much I'm lifting, and how much weight to put on. When I hit a sticking point, and can't bust through it I'll change it, but not until giving it a little time. I have been going by "feel" and if I felt like high reps, or lows reps I would do that, but maybe I'm not going to give body what it wants.

Diet: Had a wondrous ribeye on the grill this weekend, actually got two meals out of it, I know like real beef, woot woot. Grilled some ground beef today and picked up 4lbs. of skinless, boneless chicken.....just gotta learn how to grill. Time to suck up some protein.

Yea, done right the grill just makes so many things taste better...IMO. Burgers I can do, I want to learn to do chicken, and steaks. Barbie has a hard time with steak, she marinades, but they still come out like shoe leather. The guy at the meat counter told her to stick with ribeye, and one other one...maybe porter house..I have to ask her again. Those ribeyes melted in mouth, no marinade or prep at all...ok so now I'm getting hungry too.... :D
