Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
November was a pretty good month...missed one due to Doctor's appointment, shooting pains due to pulled muscles one Friday evening, two of evenings due to being exhausted but got morning workouts in and on feet a lot during the day with cleaning, and last week of November one day due to pains in side again.
Will continue quest to add some pounds, but not going to well.
While most December's I do workouts for the first two weeks not the case this year. With other things that have gone on this year, I am behind this year so with that plus some cleaning things I didn't get to in November...I will get more than enough "up and down" bending over etc to compensate for lack of formal workouts and do Real Life Workouts instead. Unfortunately no increase in weight in fact I am going down instead...GRRRR Will keep plugging at it.
Food goals: Food goals remain the same...continue to take vitamin D, and keep up the increase in the fruits and veggies in diet, and try some different type of veggies, which we have been doing well with. Also continue to try out some different recipes, which we have gotten back on track with. Made some different stuff up and tested them and now to add them to our fare for the month. Plus continue with the getting in chocolate several times a week which has been going well. We no longer are eating ice cream. Now just need to get on the stick and make up some fruit based desserts to go with the ones we are having now. Our soups mixed with egg noodles are working out great giving us lots of veggies and the sauce is already included; in addition to getting 2 dinners out of a can. Plus tummy likes it too LOL We are going to start to have them over rice, and other types of noodles, like little farfalle and ditalini pasta too.
In addition we have a number of ideas for different bases to go over pasta, making casseroles, etc. Plus making calzones, and pastry filled with vegetables and other filling to add to our diet for even more variety.
Trying to continue a variety of foods in our diet. Doing very well getting fish into diet having it on most Friday's and have also been getting it in during the week also. In addition adding diced peppers, potatoes, corn, spinach and other veggies to go with the fish has worked out well too. Still have had to be careful on portions as stomach still rebels on occasion so have NOT been able to gain the added weight; though some weeks it decides to go up a bit and stay for a while then back to same ole, same ole. I will continue efforts.. As I said hoping 2016 will be the year.

50's doesn't sound bad. i don't mind the 30's actually without snow. i just don't like to drive in ice really otherwise i don't mind winter. It will get much colder than this though.
Sue you couldn't live here if you California summers! how about 50 below in January.
Have a nice weekend Sue.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Bekah, we moved to California to escape those winters you have and Rochester has....10 to 30 below were not uncommon and many times higher with the added wind chill factor. The year we moved it snowed in May.......our first year there, it started the beginning of October and and didn't end till the end of April...we were so glad to get to California. So when their winters with 25 degrees came along it was a piece of cake. first job I had a light sweater on over dress the morning I went into work at 24 degrees and watched all the others peel off coats and sweater under them plus gloves and hats ....well you get the idea. Kathleen (the gal in charge) said to me "you just wait Susan after you've been here for 25 to 30 years you will be just like us....A CALIFORNIA WIMP....SHE WAS RIGHT LOL
Oh you would have hated Long Island as we got a lot of ice storms...I hated driving in them too especially since you'd get these idiots that didn't know how to drive in it.
Plus the fog was extremely bad since we were surrounded by water and some nights you couldn't see your hood.
Oh summer aren't bad Becky....there is NO HUMIDITY here at least not to two people from NY who are used to 95% humidity living on L.I. and NYC areas weren't much better.
It hits 110 and humidity is in single digits.
I haven't been to Minnesota but had a friend who lived there on another board so know how bad your winters came get. Plus read a number of books that took place there. Nope I couldn't survive there at all. First one to admit it!
Well on that note I am off and taking meds, breathing and actually laying down. It's good dusting next week so I am skipping the computer room.
Have a nice weekend,
Sue

Happy Saturday all!
WELLL!! On wednesday night we did get a snow storm but that was no big deal. We woke up to no power, the kids had no school so I had to take them with me to work. Finally got power sometime in the afternoon. Had a wrap-around storm affect and had more snow and rain on thursday. Kids tstayed home again but we did have power.
For exercise, shoveling on wednesday morning. On thursday two walks of 20 minutes then an hour of shoveling wet snow.
TTFN!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
honestly i don't know how to drive in the winter really. I never had someone teach me. i just go slow. or wait till they get the roads cleared before going out. Luckily in area it's pretty quick. car is low to the ground too so i can't really go out if there is a lot of snow.
Have you ever been back to Long Island Sue? I've never been there. Would you want to go visit if you had the opportunity?
Humidity usually isn't really bad here either in the summer. We have nice summers. A few humid days but usually not too bad. not like down south. even Detroit has more humid summers too than we do.
I bet you could live here. In the cities we handle the weather pretty well. The roads are cleared right away and salted. you don't go outside much when it's really cold out though so like half the year.. haha dad is the same way. He wouldn't leave Florida he doesn't want too.
Have you ever read the Red River Valley of the North Series. It takes place in Northern Minnesota. mom loves those books.
Glad you have power now Chris. No snow here yet but they are predicting some next week.
mom knows that song Sue.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Just popping in again to say HI and hope you all had a nice ME day and sleep well tonight also! Sounds like you all are doing good with exercise and food plans;) I'm just plodding along right now. Well we got our snow back again so will see if it stays this time. Even Wisc. had it as I glanced at GB Packer game and saw it coming down good but maybe wouldn't stay on highway too much. son left here about 2 hrs. ago for GB but might stop to visit someone still in U.P. along the way. I hope he takes it slow too. He has a low car but all wheel drive so should be ok. I have front wheel van but at least it was higher up and I got through some high snow:) Older son is working this weekend and son with family was home as his business moved into nicer quarters this weekend also. Its partly underground so should help with heat:) they will be building floor on top later too but they didn't care for landlord of other business place much. So their on their own now.
Becky, where do you live abouts? Lower MI.? Just wondered as it sounds cold there. We haven't seen above 30 for some days. Of course 20's at night and I guess sun might even shine tomorrow but warm, I doubt it:) Wish we had the room for a little wood heat here:(
Sue, nice little grocery run you had and I enjoyed your comics a lot again:) Yes, Kind of late to start the cement stuff by your mailboxes! Hoping we see your decorations for xmas too:) None here really. I put 5 candle thing in window and should look to see if I have any lights for over archway. No room for anything else here and not really in mood so I guess the true meaning of xmas is thing:)
Bama, Mo, and Chris, enjoy your week also and I will try to read and get on here more but seems like no news to impart etc. take care all and watch the ice if your in the cold! Hugs!

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Afternoon sisters,
The grocery report and other news are on their way.....
Now time for me to catch up.....
Bekah, dad was infatic about teaching me to drive in fog (which we got so dense you couldn't see past your windshield. We crack up out here when they say visibility is only a mile or 2 miles....WHAT why are you even reporting that. Snow, ice etc. I had no issues with snow, ice I was alright on but didn't like driving in it or fog either.
Luckily I had a BIG heavy car with a V-8 engine and power (as man Tim Allen would say (more power...more power LOL) I had studs and sometimes chains on Chevy Belair, got snow tires in later years. Much easier LOL
Nope haven't been back and have no desire too as all family is gone.
I actually know people from on line who live there so I get to hear about how much it have changed or used too as don't hear from them anymore.
Yeah no humidity here....the native Californians might think so but not us LOL When you are used to 95% humidity you don't stress 15% to 30% or even the rare 40%.
Nope Bekah as pretty as Minnesota looks it's got snow and I don't do snow any more LOL
patootie is staying planted here in the Central Valley....I love it here. Great people, weather, stores, medical....and California is BIG so much so we could just become our own country with Oregon and Washington who too, are getting sick of the Washington baloney.
No I haven't read those Becky will have to check them out. I have read a book that took place in Minnesota a while back I still have it, I think will have to check.
I see your mom knows that song too, Bekah.
YAH so nice to see you here. I see you got the evil 4 letter word that starts with "s" as one of our dear friends described it to me today. Yeah when they showed the game on TV we saw the "white stuff" coming down. Hope your son has a safe trip. I see your son's work venue has changed too.
Yes, our little grocery run went well and glad you enjoyed the comics. Yeah idiots should have done this kind of work in March or April not the month of the biggest holiday.
Yes I will take pictures of our new tree and decorations. Your 5 candle things sounds like mom's and MIL's too.
Well I am off to comics and will see ya all tomorrow.
Sue

YAH i'm from MN. Both parents are from the detroit suburbs though. And we own land up by Mackinaw City. But MN has your type of weather although in the cities we might be a bit warmer than where you are located.
Sue your area does sound really nice to live in. We don't get a lot of fog in area. mom heard a story about someone that got killed driving on ice early in the morning. sadly a few hours later the sun was out and ice had melted. That ice is tricky to drive on. I use to have a 4.3 liter engine with 4 wheel drive. I had it for 15 years. But i sold it and decided to get something more economical and just not go out when the roads were bad. I'm happy with the decision.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Ok I am back . Nothing new has been happening here . It is cold and windy today no snow as of yet . I am going to have to buy a warmer cold , I think . Most of mine are lite with a thin lining . I had to go to th bank this am and about froze hiney off getting in and out of the car.
DD and SIL and Chloe and of course Happy paid a visit on Sunday . They don't arrive early as they wait until church is out so they didn't get here till around 2 . We visited and I fixed some dinner and then they left as DD has an early call for work. She drives a school bus. Hubby works at home or I should say he does have an shop not to far from home . He builds reptile cages and raises snakes. Yes I did say snakes also other reptiles . Seem to be making a nice living off of it according to him . I don't think so but personally not any of business. There have been many times though the years that we have had to help them financially with a promise of pay back but that never happens . Oh well . She is Daughter .
I spent early morning with Son . Just he and I and that was nice.
Still have some Christmas shopping to do so hope to finish that up this week. I am also shopping for a Fireplace entertainment center . This house doesn't have a fireplace so thought that would look good in the living room .
Yah, nice to see you here. Come back more often . I know adjusting to no working isn't easy for you. Maybe find a hobby or something to do at home. If you like to read you could see about getting some of the Sisterhood books . That would keep you busy for a while and they are quite enjoyable. I just read the latest which I got at the Library . If your near a Library you could order them on line and then just pick up . If you decide too be sure and start with the first one.
Oh golly I spoke to soon . Just looked at the window and it is snowing .
If I can figure out how to put a picture on here from phone I will post one of new living room furniture . So far haven't figured it out.
Sue got your emails, haven't read yet but will get to it tonight.
Chris I see you are doing good with your eating and workouts .
Becky Most of the woman in family played the piano but not me and we even had a piano at our house in Bama .
Oh how exciting was this . When I was very young maybe 19 or so I lived with an Aunt and Cousin came and spent a year with us . Wanted to go to his old high school and family had moved out of town . Well I got married and he moved back home never to be in touch with each other again . I found him on face book and how nice it has been talking to him and learning about each others family. Dad and His Dad were brothers and best of friends
Well that is all that has been happening around here. Don't think we are getting much snow as there are only a few flurries now.
Enjoy the day .

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Evening sisters, well not yet for me but for most of you. Bama, I see you have been a busy lady too.
Bekah, yes it's a beautiful area, and the people in the area are very nice and caring also. Tight knit communities around us that take care and help others when they need it. Did a lot of special things yesterday for the veterans and had a special on the news about several of them.
Yeah ice is "not" a good thing. Way scary and treacherous to drive in too. Most people don't know what to do when they do skid and always turn the car into the wrong direction instead of into the skid, they turn away; which only makes it worse.
Since I am older than you....I loved big V-8's and as I have said I was lucky to get the head mechanics car at Rolls Royce as it was in fantastic shape. Plus had stuff it's years didn't. He put turning signals on the hood and I had lap seat belts (Rolls Royce ones too) in both the front and back and I just loved that car. Engine was sweet and lots of power....loved baby!
Bama, so glad all is well other than the cold and windy weather. We been cool also and got rain all night last night and some more today too which only added dampness.
I was lucky Bama, as I had the warm coats from Rochester that came right along with me...I still had nice warm short jacket which when it's in the 30s and 40s I have on.
Oh so glad you had visitors on Sunday.
Sorry about no pay backs Bama....we always did when we had to, but just was us. Mind you most of the time his parents ended up buying us something with it. But had no control over that.
Glad to see you got some son time in too.
Good luck with the Christmas shopping and finding a fireplace entertainment center.
See you shouldn't have said or thunk it Bama....let's hope it's light and doesn't last long.
You could send the pic to me and I can do it for you Bama.
How neat to find a old acquaintance from years ago.
Well I am off to meds, breathing and all that fun stuff.
Sue

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Good Morning Sisters,
Baby it's cold out side !!!! The furries yesterday stopped as quick as they started . No snow on the ground.
Nothing big planned today . Have to pick up some orders from Walmart and get them wrapped and maybe go to another Lowes to see if they have the entertainment center . I would like to have one by Christmas but if not that's what it will be.
Out to dinner tonight at the Rib House which is a very nice quiet restaurant. I think tonight there willbe 8 of us . Nice but then really to many . all kinds of conversations going on and hard to keep up with everyone.
Yes Sue it was nice to see Kids . The grandkids I probably won't see until Christmas .
I'll see if I can send them to you, Sue. The pictures they are on phone and i am really not very experience with it . i half the time don't have it with me . kids can't go anywhere without theirs even while here visiting they have their nose stuck in it. I would hate to be that dependent on one. They are nice I will grant you that but all the time. At Christmas i only allow them for picture taking.
Well time to get off of here and get some more coffee. Now that it is cooler I am drinking coffee again.
