Gosh, I still can't do pullups, startin to think its all in head. You seem to be doing a great job, keep at it

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
Well Bonnie, I can't do jumping jacks (umm, bladder issues lol)..I have to be careful when doing anything 'jumpy' lol. Kegels haven't worked but things are getting better since I started working out so hopefully I will be able to do jumpy things one day - if not then possible surgery. bleuch!!!
Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
today is cardio. As I'm stuck home with the kids off, I'll be doing a HIIT routine similar to 14th - might change up the jumping claps though. plan is to add two more intervals each week until I work up to a 30 minute 30/30 interval workout (plus 10 mins either side of moderate cardio warm up and cool down). I'm doing the HIIT 3 times a week (that's the plan), strength/weights 3 times per week. One HIIT is after a weight session so I'm doing 5 days and the other two consist of light swimming or walking or whatever comes way lol! I'm building up slowly but I'm definitely so much farther than the first time I stood on the elliptical 4.5 weeks ago and nearly dropped after 15 mins! At the moment in weights I'm working a lot on bodyweight strengthening exercises, once I can do all the reps, sets I have planned then I'll start adding weights in. Feels good to have a plan! AS for tonight......after workout,
Then will have shower, and snuggle into bed to watch Grey's anatomy! FAV part of the week.
in big news: it's pancake Tuesday so I have wangled day to still be able to fit in two pancakes after dinner tonight as a treat and still keep within calories and within 40/40/20 macronutrient split. Delighted with myself on this one!
In bigger news. I AM GIVING UP SMOKING. I had last one earlier. Went to shop and decided not to buy more. So that's it. Wish me luck, I need to do this. It's the last step in really making some positive changes in life.
Onwards and upwards!

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
That's the best and smartest way to do it. I started out doing weights, then upon advice from some great folks here...I started over doing BW exercises, pushups, pullups, rev. crunchs, tri-cep dips, etc, and got much stronger and had much better results. You can find all kind of BW exercise routines on youtube. Now I incorporate weights into workout, but still rely on BW exercises for a large part of it.Noosk wrote:At the moment in weights I'm working a lot on bodyweight strengthening exercises, once I can do all the reps, sets I have planned then I'll start adding weights in. Awesome! You can do it!!!Noosk wrote:In bigger news. I AM GIVING UP SMOKING

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
YAY on the quitting smoking, hard work but well worth it, YOU CAN DO IT !! celebrate 2 years smoke free on feb 27th.
Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
ok so I kind of crumbled yesterday. I did 20 mins of HIIT then 25 x 2 russian sit up and hip raises and then I gave up. It was after 8pm when I started with trying to get the kids to bed etc. so energy was fading. I don't think I'm a night time exercisor. I'm usually out of steam as I've been going all day.
Note to self: definitely do exercise in the morning!!!!
ofcourse I didn't do it this morning because Wednesday night's husband is actually home from work so I was going to go to the gym then! Feeling a bit tired now although I've just had dinner so that might be why. Will drink some water, have a green tea in about an hour and then head to gym. I know once I get there I'll be fine, I just need to keep exercise to mornings.
lesson learned.
plan today is to do:
split squats, 12, 10 , 8, 6
deadlifts ""
high steps (one foot) will see how many I'm able for!!!!
bench press 12, 10, 8
lat pulldown ""
seated shoulder press ""
lat raise ""
bicep curl 12, 12
seated tricep extension 12, 12
and then a bunch of core exercises
Hoping to do 20 mins HIIT on the recumbent bike after as well as efforts last night were so short lived.

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
oh and to update. no smokes today. have been chewing sugar free gum like a loon to stave off cravings...might try some tapping too.
Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
Gum is good, I managed to be able to blow bubbles with nicorette gum myself

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
lol bubbles with nicorette - good one. So far I'm trying to avoid using patches or nic gums so I break the nicotine habit asap. I'm chewing airwaves - menthol. defo don't want to smoke with lovely minty breath! Have been craving them a lot today but did breathing or drank water or chewed gum or did housework (boring) to keep myself busy and not think about it. so far so good. Day 1 - success!!
ok so the gym DIDN'T happen because hubby came home and then had to go straight back out to work. phooey!!
BUT and you won't believe this, but I did the workout for dummies DVD 1 hour. OH..GAWD. it was actually great! it's warm up, strength exercises and stretches across four areas, abs, arms, buns and thighs and basically does tbw as a lot of the exercises are compound so back, chest get worked too. The first 15 minutes was squats and lunges - NON STOP I thought I was going to fall down I was shaking so bad by the end. Got through it though and kept up. I expect to be sore tomorrow!
I found it in the library today and thought I'd give it a whirl - and I have to say it's a great little strength workout using body weight. Really liked it. challenging (VERY) for me so I know I worked hard. Sweated buckets!
I also then went on the Wii where to dismay Mii had been deleted so I had to do body test etc. all over again from scratch. phooey! Anyway, she's back up and running now. Did some yoga and balancing exercises and ofcourse a couple rounds of hoola hooping cause that is just so funny. did about 25 mins in wii piggy bank so not bad.
final tidy up down here and then it's off to bed - smoke free (not that I smoked in bed people, just used to have one out in the garden before bed)...will drink some water instead.
night all!

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
Good for you, day one down

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
thanks for your well wishes everyone!
I just did a 30 minute salsacise dvd. hee hee. was great fun!! the library is great for getting work out dvd's to keep things interesting. Today is day off but I figured I'd give this a lash. wasn't like HIIT or anything but it made you sweat and work and was fun.
off to dance classes for 3 hours this afternoon. dinner and lunch cooked already (since 10am) to make sure I eat right while on the go.
was dying for a cigarette this morning but resisted urge to run to shop. Turned on the salsacise instead.
onwards and upwards

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
Yep, when I quit & had cravings, I walked, walked & walked some more, till I had blisters, which still is better than smoking

Re: Noosk's Workout Journal
lost 1 pound this week.
haven't worked out yet today but going to do the dummies guide 1 hour strength dvd - HAVE DUMBELLS!!!!! Delighted I finally got them.
can't make it to the gym tonight. I was working this morning (starting a job and was at induction day today). Am wrecked after a crap night's sleep and don't have the energy to get to the gym but I'll push it tonight for the hour.
Had the most delicious cheat meal tonight. Had a LF pizza (and added the leftover quorn and veg chilli i made yesterday mixed with lf on top and it was totally satisfying felt like I've had something devilishly bad but still within fat and calorie allowance.) Was SOO good.
otherwise doing well, chewing gum like a mad woman..
