Swanso - I have to admit what I like best about the flyes are how it makes muscles look while I'm doing them...it's cool
train for function not looks...high cable curls might make arms look good but they won't make me stronger

No such thing as getting stronger AND looking good? I know...if you do the right exercises you WILL look good too :)

We all know that the only reason we "watch" ourselves in the mirrors at the gym is to insure we are using proper form, righhtttt Lu? :D just kiddin' with ya! Personally I have to admit to checking out arms in the mirror at the gym when I was using the BB's. When you have worked so hard, and you know how far you have come, and you know you are lookin' pretty ripped then I say enjoy the feeling! Just be sure not to "hog" the mirrors too long, so they don't have to drag you away screaming "Wait, one more rep, one more rep!" Common courtesy and all, ya know?

I know it will be hard for you to believe but I'm a bit shy, that wasn't me hogging the mirror

Actually the incline flyes are what that girl with the 12 inch waist  was doing and I was sooo impressed with the show of muscles....that I had to see what it looked like when I was doing them :) Very light weights, so it's really just for show (fun!), nothing else. LOL!

Well, I guess I just told on myself didn't I! I was just remembering one time in particular, I was using a barbell doing standing military press ups, had a good view of myself in the mirror and thinking "Not too shabby!!" Then some woman started using a swiss ball or something obstructive like that and blocked view!! Aaagghhh! kind of embarrassing how much that upset me  (course I couldn't let it show...but I wanted to "drop" that barbell on her and her little swiss ball butt!) Ha!

Are you still sore today? I took a yoga class once  It was hard to get myself into those positions, much less hold them there for what seemed like an hour! Take it slow, be careful not to over extend or injure yourself. :)

Ut oh - caught with hands full of swiss balls  I hate those things! Arrrggg!!

Just arms are sore today from shoulder to wrist - seems plank things make for sore body, I guess abs are sore too :( But I'll work it out - no, I won't do things I can't...but if I work slowly I see this being a good thing - me with a stronger core! Yeah!!!

Update - Just got Foam Roller - can't wait to use it. The DVD that came with it was good and explained everything. I alss got Hula Hoop (3 lbs) and I can actually do it after all these years! It's like Xmas in household today ! :D

But first I'm off to the gym! Later!

Bah form, is how it all started, now though I love watching those muscles & lines & all that stuff :D When I'm in the gym I pretty much take up an entire corner of the place, is no room for anyone to be in front ;)

Today's Workout

20 Minutes on the Treadmill - 3 intervals at 6.9 mph, rest was 3.7 mph.

Mat Exercises

Leg Raises 2 x 15
Supine Bridges 3 x 10 (hold 5 secs)
Side Planks 2 @ 30 secs
Prone Plank 1 @ 30 secs
Glute Kick Backs 2 x 10

Single Arm Row 50 lb DB's - 3 x 5 x 2
Chin Ups - 3 x 5 (12 Assist)

Squats (Smith Machine) - 135 lbs. 3 x 5

Squats use to be strongest exercise (strong legs) - I'm not feeling as comfortable as I once was. I'm sure I'm doing them right, but feel a weakness in trunk - lower back when I'm doing them. Maybe I should reduce the weights?

I feel much more comfortable doing dead lifts.

I watched a fairly young guy doing deads today he kept his legs locked and bent over (rounded back) to the floor and back. I felt pain watching him! It killed me not to say anything, but I felt it wasn't place to do so. What would you have done?

Anyway - short workout, the gym was too busy. I'll do foam roller stuff a little later.

Goodnight!

Funny how I did 50 lb Single Arm Rows awhile back but went back to 45 lbs, found them a little too heavy. But then I realized I wasn't breathing!! It's amazing how much more weight you can lift/pull when you breathe! :)

I was doing squats pretty regularly ( I love them too!) but then Deads took over - (yes, very addicting). I'll have to check journal as I CRS! I think I need to read the 62 pages  on proper squatting and make sure I'm doing them right!

I went low on squats yesterday & annoyed right knee  When I tried those step ups today, which r basically one legged, I noticed I had to take the two 5 lb plates off, after I made the platform higher, back or stabilizers were a tab wobbly also..was first time doing them.Im sure u will figure out what is amiss with them :D

Exactly! Swanso may have already identified what problem is - I overtrained, especially that one day where I did 105 leg reps, sumo squats, lunges, weighted squats, can't remember exactly, but I probably just pushed too hard and injured myself :( I really need to watch that! Just becasue I "like" to do certain exercises isn't a good enough reason to do too many, more is not better in this case

Yes when one is caught up in the feeling good, conquer the world mode, is easy to indulge in alot more exersizes than is necessary, but yeah, ur body doesnt recover enough :)

There are 118,000 plus registered members on this site - I think "we" are the only ones posting these days! Boss Man of course, Swanso, Packard, Lynne, Bonnie,. Lesplease, Nokie, Cassie. Lif (fairly new)...even Patty and Allison aren't around much anymore :( Of course there are others, but not many....think it's the weather? Or just way past the New Years Eve Resolution!

Thanks for being there! Sorry if I missed an obvious loyal poster/friend

Today was a day off for me. Now that I'm doing Cardio and Weight Training on the same day AND I'll still suffering from overtraining and the Triple Play on Monday, I need to take more time off for healing. Will be back at it tomorrow. I'm going to try 150 lb Deads!

Enjoy the rest of your evening!
