Hey Lynn - I need to follow a plan or I'll go off track and binge on something I love, like chips ;) binge of late was PB cookies with chocolate kiss in the middle, a friend baked me a batch and sent them all the way from California - I ate half of them in 1 night! No more !!! I think that was the tipping point for me to go on new food plan - and while it's somewhat extreme it's working!!

I see you are eating Tilapia - I love fish! Here's another way to cook it that was in new food plan book. I made it with Cod because the Tilapia was farm raised and I prefer wild. But it was good!

Sesame Fish

1 pound of Tilapia
2 tbsp of olive oil
2 tbsp of rice vinegar
2 tbsp of lite soy sauce
1 teas of chopped garlic - 1 lg clove
2 tbsp sesame seeds

Spray broiler pan with vegetable oil to prevent fish from sticking. Place fish on pan. Whisk together olive oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce and garlic until well blended. Pour over fish. Sprinkle Sesame Seeds over fish and broil at medium heat about 8 inches away from heat about 15-20 minutes or until fish flakes easy with a fork. Makes 4 servings.

I always deviate for one reason or another  , I didn't have any rice vinegar so used fresh lemon juice and I whisked the sesame seeds in with the rest of the stuff and just poured it all on the fish.

I'm always looking for different ways to make meals, so I share when I have something I really like.

Have a great day!

Hi Lu! That recipe sounds delish! I'll have to get some sesame seeds - I've never had those on anything except a Big Mac
I wonder if white wine vinegar would work instead of rice? Thanks!!

yes ma'am it does! 5 lbs. in 2 weeks. Got a long way to go, but I am committed and encouraged by the progress so far. It always helps to see a pay off for the changes you make. :D

Be aware that Sesame Seeds have been strongly linked with Eczema Flare-ups, so if you're not Eczema prone you should be fine, otherwise consider avoiding.

Interesting - didn't know that. I would think if you ate Sesame seeds every once in a while vs all the time you'd be ok. (Had to edit, had it backwards!)

Lynne - Congrats on the 5 lbs~! You go girl! I tried to go back and see what's happening - it looks like you are keeping track of what you eat, trying to get rid of the "chip" cravings...and just plain eating healthy. Sounds like a good plan and it's paying off :)

Thanks Lu. :D

Yesterdays workout:
4 mile outdoor street/off road run.
Knees are bothering me a bit, but I think it is due to running on a cambered surface, really does a number on your knees when the running surface is not level - :x

Hope everyone has an awesome week!! :D

Wouldnt matter with Sesame Seeds. It's an allergic reaction for some, therefore a tolerance issue that causes the reaction after one time.

You could eat them once or 5 times in a week, you'd still get ther problem if you were someone that got an Eczema trigger off the seeds.

Tolerance issues with foods are mostly linked to some kind of genetic anomelie or the bodies inability to produce certain types of enzymes.

The amount of ingested foodstuff that can cause a reaction, will affect the severity of the reaction, but the gentic fault would mean you wouldn't need regular ingestion of the foodstuff, to make a reaction happen, as it would happen to some extent the first time.

How far away is your next race now ? I'm thinking to enter one during the nice weather, can't afford new shoes yet though. There was a 48 flight stair run that interested me but need sponsors & I don't know many people.

Next race is in about 7 weeks. :D
A stair run? Awesome! I hope you get to do it. As many step ups as you have done, and with the added weights you use, you should blow away any competition in your age group - heck just about everyone else too. I say go for it Bonnie! If you need sponsors, after seeing you and hearing a bit of your inspiring journey - they would be crazy not to want to sponsor you. I wish you all the best towards that goal. :D

Had a bit of a setback this week. We had to fly home to husbands family in Virginia for the funeral of his grandmother. She was an awesome lady just 2 months shy of her 90th birthday. She will be dearly missed.
It was a sudden trip, we found out the news and in less than 2 hours packed and were on a plane.
I wore running shoes so I would have them with me, and packed a few running clothes along all other clothes I would need.
I managed to go running twice while there. It was nice to have just a bit of time alone, just me, and the road (and some beach running too).

The setback comes with the food. Everyone was bringing food over, we had fried chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, lasagna, ziti pasta cassorole, bread, and last but not least - cakes, pies, cookies - omg  so much sweets!
I'm not even gonna lie and say I did great. I didn't. But I tried to keep it manageable. All everyone did was sit around, talk, and eat, and eat, and eat.
I had to really pay attention to eating. I opted for skinless chicken breast when it was offered. I stayed away from the macaroni salad (but did eat some of the potato salad). I could have kissed pa-in-law when he cooked some steamed broccoli, and deboned a rotisserie chicken - so I could actually eat something that I felt half way good about. I ate a banana and a fruit bar for breakfast most days, except for when pa-in-law got up early and made this huge breakfast for everyone that had bacon, grits, toast and scrambled eggs. I only had 2 slices of bacon, so not too bad there.

I am a bit behind in running program. I missed long run last Sunday and another 2 mile scheduled run, plus ALL of strength training.

Looking forward to this coming week and getting back into eating/running schedule.
husband broke our weight scale when he tried to weigh our suitcase before our trip! haha. So, I can't weigh myself - probably a good thing! lol!
I'm going to buy a new one this week, and wait until Friday to weigh.

Hope everyone is well, and on track with things. :D

Today's workout:

3.50 mile treadmill interval run
Timed 3.0 miles @ 29:09
walk/jog .5 cooldown
no knee pain - :P

3 x 8 stability ball crunches
3 x 8 incline pushups
2 x 1 min. front plank (1 straight arm & 1 bent at the elbow) I was lousy at both. :x shaking like a baby. I"ve neglected planks, and it showed. :|

feel pretty good, glad to be back at it.
I have a 6 mile run for tomorrow according to training schedule. Looking forward to it. 8)

Next week I want to incorporate a few bike rides to begin the training stages of the triathlon for May...I'm thinking I'll bring bike to work, and ride on lunch hour...burn a few extra calories. Every little bit helps!

Todays workout:

6 mile hilly outdoor run.
No walking - yay me. It was a very hilly course, and there was a head wind of about 25 mph - which seemed to always be in face, uphill every time. :x But I was just glad to get it done, and outside, no treadmill today!!
Felt good! Right on schedule with training.
