2nd place not to shabby. I was the only woman who didn't have a black belt and I am a while from that.

I walked to the stage. No time to turn back. I bowed to the front, bowed to the ref, and then opponent. Fighting stance, GO! I felt her land a couple of punches, but they didn't hurt. Adrelaline was pumping. I diamond stepped past her lead leg and got her with a good shot to the inside of her back leg, just as Shihan had taught me. I few more punches. I could hear Sempai Harry yelling for me to hit her chest and I would, but the ref kept telling me to keep the punches lower. I don't think I was anywhere near her face. I few short punches into her ribs and I side dtepped again and this time when I got that leg, she went down. I got a 1/2 point. first 1/2 point ever.

Now she had nothing to lose. She kept going for head and I put her down again. Her foot would go up but she wasn't really connecting. There was just weight and no power. I allowed one slow kick up and when it got to shoulder I pushed forward and kicked and she went down again. This time though, I got a warning. I guess I had two hands on her leg when I am supposed to have one. Round was over and all the red flags went up for me. I won!

The woman I fought for first place, was fierce. She is the first fighter in a tournament that has ever hurt me with punches. She was very skilled at placing them in the exact right spot for maximum damage. Still I was the stronger fighter. We exchanged blowes and I was dominating the mat, pushing her back. I could hear the excitement. I could hear name being screamed!

Then, nothing. :( 54 Seconds into the fight, she threw a kick at me that I never saw coming. I was told it hit the back of head and I rolled forward. All I know is I was punching her, then some dude was standing over me. He wouldn't let me bow out. They took me to go lay down in the corner behind a partition.

She probably would have won anyway becasue she outclassed me as a fighter. But it would have been a hell of a battle. Got to remember to keep hands up! :D

Thanks and thank you everyone

Last night at the dojo when we were leaving, I was told that I have been invited to North Carolina to train at the Ligo Dojo. Sensei Liga is one of the five US Branch chiefs. And that Shiahn Fugiwara, the dude in charge of the United States, wants me to train with him in Connecticut once a month for three days at a time. I was also asked to go back to Montreal for another fight on the 11th of November for tournament for a different style of kyokushin. I was also told that overheard during first fight, that a Shihan was telling his student that she needed to learn to fight like me.That same Shihan's student came to me the day before the fight trying to find out if I was the blue belt from last May that fought. Told me that I was talked about after that fight.

I am starting to feel like I am becoming a big deal in little karate world. I feel so honored but not deserving of the attention. I am going train so hard to make me deserve the attention though.

CONGRATS. You see you showed more than you looked like doing a few days ago, when you started sounding negative. The fact you believed more means, you didn't necessarily get a result you could have had, but you got a batter one than not believing might have achieved.

Glad to see you didn't let the stuff you were saying on here negatively influence you.

I very much have to work on the negativity. Weird to me that I am good at something, well not that, weird that I am great at something. Strange to find a hidden talent at this late stage in life, one that was never even a notion two years ago. I am goingt o try to enter as many tournamnets as I can before the Kyokushin Worlds so I can get these jitters out of system.

I found out last night that fight video from the world championships came in. Then I was told I would have to wait to watch it until we had a dojo movie night, so not fair. So I thought it was time to upload the video from last May, the US Open Cahmps. I still get a stomach ache everytime I see it. It is also like a live PPZ becasue I get yelling at the screen, "Whay aren't you blocking?!", " your stance!", "What the hell kind of lpunch is that!" or "kick her in the head!". So weird. I think I am scaring the kids :D

I have been lurking every now and again. Just wanted to give you guys an update.

I opened up a new business doing web sites. I got an office and it looks real offical. I guess that means I am a grown up now, sadly.

I have another fight coming up this April 30th in Conn. But first I just got sent the video from the World Championship from last october and put it on blog at http://www.kihonwasa.com/2011/03/dageki ... nship.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I didn't realize I fought like that. So weird to see self doing stuff like that

Good gosh girl! You are unstoppable. Very aggressive, you have her backing up the entire fight. Love it.
favorite moment is at 2:50 when you start the second round and she tries to kick you in the head and you just grab her leg and kick her so hard she falls - freakin' awesome! There is a few times where she is literally running away from you. (I would be too! :wink: )
You have definitely found your sport. Keep going girl, you are going to do great things. :D
