Day 29

Woke up, had bran flakes with milk for breakfast, also had a little bit of "cookie milkshake frijji" probably had 120 calories of it if that, as i didn't drink any, i know i haven't had many snacks and treats like this, but that's it for now, no more giving in at all.

Edit: Lunch - 3 eggs with 2 slices of toast.

Protein powder also came today, thinking of having a glass of it after the weight training sessions, it's 117calories per 30g serving, is a 30g serving roughly a tablespoon? Also if i have it with milk it'll be like 300 calories at least? Will i be able to fit this into routine. Also, should i put the 30gs of powder in, then add milk, then just stir with a spoon?

Went to the park, did 4 laps of the park, first lap took over 5mins, then had a short break, then the laps started taking longer, and getting much harder, im still chesty and breathless now and have been getting chesty lately, could be to the excercise and weight training. However i timed it on a stopwatch and did 27minutes total worth of jogging. Alot harder than what i thought it would be, but i really pushed myself, there was so many times where i thought im just going to stop now but i really tried best, i missed the last 2 years of physical education in school so that messed fitness up a bit, and younger brother who is 3 years younger than me only managed 3 laps and he's 1 of the top sportsmen in his year.

legs are still aching now but enough of going into detail, it took about 7mins to get there 7mins back so 27mins of jogging plus 14mins light walking bout 41mins excercise, but where walking is light excercise i don't really count it as doing cardio.

Have i done enough for today? Do i need to be doing anymore, i don't want to overdo it but want to make sure ive done enough, it feels like i have, but the reality is, have i?

Basically it's almost a month now, no results however, if i do this every other day (3times a week) 3 times weight training (now bought a door chin up bar too) and eat healthy, trying to eat as much protein as i can, i will see results within the next month or so?

Thanks for your support hopefully i can get the results i want.

Martin,

I would bet money that you actually have been making significant progress and your body most likely has changed... however because you look at yourself in the mirror every day you don't necessarily see the changes a they are so subtle. I bet if you had taken pictures of when you started, then took picturs today and compared them you would see a difference. On March 30th I started a very strict diet. In April I took pictures so I could easily track progress by looking back and seeing how body has changed. A couple of weeks ago I took more pictures so I could compare progess since last pictures. I didn't really feel like I was making huge progress, however when I compared the pics it was evident that body is definitely changing. So Martin, I DO think your body has changed. It has just happened so slowly and subtly that you are having a hard time noticing. If you have access to a camera, I would definitely take pictures so you can compare in a month. You're doing GREAT friend. Please don't get discouraged and please keep trying. I KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS!

Does the cookie milkshake frijji have any protein in it by chance? I would try to slip in a meal between breakfast and lunch. Lunch looks GREAT! Good job!

Yes, DEFINITELY have a protein shake after the weights. I would have it with milk if I were you as I think you would benefit from the extra calories. Plus, you need a few carbs after working out and the milk would give you some carbs. It will taste better with milk also. Did the protein powder come with a scoop in it? Usually it does, the scoop equals one serving. Yes, simply put it in a glass, add milk, and stir.

Good job on the running Martin. I'm glad you stuck it out and didn't give in. That is plenty of exercise for today. Now you can go enjoy yourself and don't worry about exercising until tomorrow... weight day. :)

Again good job and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the motivation Cassie :) I just opened the powder to see if it had a scoop and it did, it's some sort of bottle lid shape right? That makes thing's easier, just fill it up and pour in the glass instead of having to measure it out.

Also the frijji shake did have protein in it, per 100ml was 80 calories though, 3.6g protein and something like 11.6 carbs, 10.6g of sugars?

Yes, weight training day tomorow, legs are still a bit achey now from the running and it's several hours later, hopefully il get more used to it as time goes on. I might of changed a bit, however i still weigh the same and still have fat skin to myself, so still needs to go, but yeah hopefully it will soonish, thanks again :)

Day 30

Had a bowl of quaker oats (think it's like porridge) with milk for breafast.

Done weights.

Had a protein shake, if there was 300+ calories that really does seem alot, i hope it won't affect me losing the fat. Also, the scoop u get with it, i filled it right up with powder, is this how it's ment to be done? However when i put it in a cup it did seem like a lot, i added milk stired it but it was still very lumpy, is it ment to be like this?

Also today i feel very achey and bruised, like ive been beaten up, i think it's due to the running?

Before i went out about 11ish am, had a small early lunch, some tuna chunks, 2 slices of toast.

Back about 2pm had a few ocean sticks, and a bottle of diet coke.

Snacked on about 10 ocean sticks today

Had fish and vegetables for dinner, pea sticks, potatoes.

Think this is probably the most protein ive eaten in a day lol.

Martin,

Some protein powder does end up a bit lumpy. I've found that sometimes if I stir it really well then let it sit for a while the lumps will go away. You could mix it before your workout then let it sit, then drink after. See if that helps. Yes, one full scoop. You NEED the calories and the protein to keep your metabolism revved.

Yes, you could feel achy because of the running. When was your last day off with no exericise? You need atleast one rest day per week to allow your body to recover. Maybe take tomorrow off and give yourself a little break.

If youre still achy in the morning you could go for a walk instead, or ride the bike, or just give youself a day off. Listen to your body Martin. If your feel like you've been run over by a truck its probably your body's way of telling you to take a day off. :) Its not going to set you back... in fact you might benefit from it if it gives you a chance to recover so you can come back the next day and hit it even harder.

Right thanks, i might try walking then if im still achey, could ride bike but it got a flat tire :!: i just want to make sure im doing enough because at the moment it doesn't seem like it according to image. Would walking still be good or is it a waste of time since it doesn't require as much effort.

Walking would be good as it would burn calories (not as much as running but more than doing nothing) and loosen you up a bit if youre still sore.

Woke up but legs are still very achey, even if im just standing, which is why im sitting down. I think im going to have to give the jogging a miss today and just rest. I hope i haven't let myself down as ive not seen any results as it is, however i don't want to injure myself anymore.

Day 31

Big bowl of oat cereal.

Snacked on wheat thin crackers.

Lunch - 2 slices of toast, with peanut butter and 4 slices of ham.

Apple before dinner

Dinner - 4 sausages, some oven baked chips and spagehtti.

Also Cassie,

The protein powder i bought, will any of the ingredients harm me, as ive been advised that some ingredients can do more harm than good to your body.

Here's the ingredients.

Protein Blend (whey protein concentrate*, Whey protein isolate*[with emulsifier soya lechithin]), flavourings, thickener (sodium carboxmethylecellulose),colour (curcumin) sweetener (sucralose).
*From milk.

Martin,

Do you mind if I ask who keeps giving you information about working out and protein? You keep saying that you've heard that working out can cause heart attacks, and protein stunts growth, and weights stunt growth.... just wondering who is advising you of these things and where they are getting their info. :)

I don't believe any of the ingedients in the protein are going to harm you.

I'm glad you decided to take a day off. Youve been working hard and deserve a day off.

Martin,

I see. : .

I understand that it can be confusing when youre trying to figure all of this health, fitness, and nutrition stuff out. It makes it even more difficult where there is sooo much conflicting information out there. A couple of things that you should know though...

1) I care about you and every other member on this site. Obviously I've never met you and wouldn't know you if i passed you on the street, but I do honestly genuinely care about you and I want the VERY best for you. I desperately want you to meet your goals Martin, if I didn't I wouldn't be logging on here everyday to hear from you and answer your questions. I TRULY want you to see success... I want you to feel confident and good about yourself and hold your head high because you are doing GREAT and even though you cant see it, you ARE making progress. Because I want you to meet your goals Martin and because I want you to grow and live a long, happy, healthy life I would NEVER suggest you do something that would jeaopardize your health in anyway. Every piece of advice that I am giving you is advice that I would take myself. I wouldn't ever tell a member to do something that I wouldn't do myself.

Moving on...
2) I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!! Martin, YOU CAN DO THIS!!! It seems (and this is just perception so forgive me if i'm all wrong) that you recieve a great deal of negative feedback from those around you. Nothing at all against those around you as I don't mean this in an offensive way at all... It just seems that you could use some extra encouragment in your life instead of people telling you that this is going to stunt your growth and that is going to give you a heart attack. As I said, I wouldn't recommend you do something if i thought it was going to jeaopardize your health. If you'd like, feel free to show this website to those around you who are giving you the "advice" and we would be more than happy to help clear up any misconceptions they have about nutrition and exercise. Now back to main point... Martin, you are doing SO great. Keep up the good work and I know it will pay off.

3) Well I really don't have anything for three. Just wanted to get those things off chest. :) I've truly enjoyed having you on the site Martin. Stick with it, chin up, and keep up the good work.

Cassie

PS: I will be away from computer for the next 3 days so won't be able to log on. I wanted to let you know so you didn't think i was ignoring you. Have a great weekend!
