Hammy felt better today - still a little tight, but not bad.

Todays a.m. workout:

5.0 mile run - 6:10 a.m.
Timed 4.20 miles @ 45:45
avg. pace per mile: 10:54

little slower today - legs are tired from 2 days of running, but still feeling good to be out there, doing what I love. :D
Tomorrow is a rest day from running.
Saturday's long run will only be 6 miles (per training schedule) - yay! Next weekend is 9 miles -

pre-run: small bowl of Uncle Sams Wheat flakes w/flaxseed
wanted to try to eat something for some energy - I only ate about 1/4 cup w/a bit of lite soymilk
here is the nutrition facts:

This guys lactate levels actually drop as he runs faster and with more intensity. Duuuuuude. I'm watching a special about him on the history channel right now (:

Anyway, made me think of you. I haven't really caught up on any journals yet (sorry!) but I'm thinking about you!
I was planning to download one of his audio books from audible.com. I am just waiting for monthly credit to get it.

I know what you mean, I am so ready for fall! We got a nice preview of it earlier this week :D

I hope everything is ok with your parents. Try not to let the stress get to you too much and make sure to take care of yourself! I know, easier said than done. But try anyways, you need to keep your energy up. Take care and I will keep your parents in prayers!

I hope your parents are okay too! Health problems with family members and ourselves for that matter are very stressful!! Wish you and your parents the best in dealing with their health problems. :)

Thanks guys for the well wishes. dad suffered a heart attack Thursday and is in the hospital. They need to do a catherization to see where the blockages are in his heart, so they are trying to flush his kidneys (his kidneys are damaged and weak due to his diabetes) to help improve their function, then to be able to put a stint in. He is on meds and resting - and seems to be feeling a bit better - we will know more on Monday.

Todays workout:

pre workout: 1 slice ww toast w/2tsp. PB

2x1 outdoor mile repeats
mile 1 - 10:07
mile 2 - 9:12 :D
.5 mile walk/jog
4x60m outdoor sprints (approximately)
1st - 13.92 seconds - uphill
2nd - 13.17 - downhill
3rd - 12.04 :D uphill
4th - 12.57 downhill

Wow, haven't done sprints like that in a while - short bursts, running all out. son doing them with me really pushed me to try harder - he is SO fast. :D

post workout: 1 slice ww toast w/2tsp. PB

We are on our way now to eat lunch with mom and visit dad.

Whatever happens, try to keep things as normal for yourself as possible. Don't give your Father any reason to think your life is being strongly affected, as he might possibly feel guilt, as if it's somehow his fault and he needs people to be as positive as possible right now and you need to make sure you're doing the best for you too, so you can be the best sort of person he needs right now.

GOOD LUCK Lynne. You're an amazing person, so chin up and stay strong misses okay :).

Thanks for all the well wishes. :) It has been a long few days. Almost lost Dad a few times, but he has pulled through to this point. He is still in hospital, they have put one stint in (his artery was 99% blocked!) in an emergency surgery, and are letting him recover from that, but still have more to do. I appear strong when I'm with him, for his sake - don't want him to be worrying about me, or as Bossman said, feel guilty that he is causing me distress. But away from him, in homelife, I am buckling under the stress. Last night during his surgery he had breathing problems and they nearly lost him - the doc said it could have gone either way at any moment. I noticed today I have been having chest pains - when I take a breath, right chest hurts like someone is sticking me with a sharp object, I'm sure it is totally brought on by stress. And I feel like I have gained 20 lbs.!, even tho' I have been eating fairly well (as well as you can eating hospital food - blah). I am on edge, feeling helpless in this situation. I know he is in good hands, and they are doing all they can for him - and I know his health has been in decline for years, but it is still not easy to accept. I am praying he will recover well enough that he can start to better his health with some sort of exercise and nutrition guidelines for a diabetic with congestive heart failure.
I'm hanging in there! No workout yesterday or today. :|

I agree with Brent, it is completely ok to feel how you are feeling. prayers are with you and your family. You are an amazingly strong woman and I know you can handle whatever life throws your way, no matter how difficult. But it is ok to feel stressed, anyone would. We're here for you if you need us, but make sure to take care of yourself!
