im gonna have to disagree on some parts of this soreness means you ethier got a good workout or your muscles arent use to that much weight or that speacific workout, dont work out if its so sore that you cant really do anything else with that muscle workout for example like your triceps if there so sore you cant put your hands over your head, and that has happened to me and i took a day rest and it helps and you can workout it out but with light weight and high reps. make sure you get some sleep too your muscles wont grow without restmakhou wrote:If u r getting sore that often that means u r resting too much. If you are working out regularly, you should not be getting sore anymore because your muscles get used to working out. You only get sore when u work out a muscle group for the first time, or after a long break.
advice to you would be to keep working until the soreness goes away. If work out one day & wait 3 days to work out again it's just like going back to square one

mm its hard because with light weight it gets blood flowing to your muscles and it can speed recover but it depends on what he wants to domakhou wrote:" i took a day rest and it helps and you can workout it out but with light weight and high reps". Should he rest or should he work out ? You cannot have it both waysnelson712 wrote:im gonna have to disagree on some parts of this soreness means you ethier got a good workout or your muscles arent use to that much weight or that speacific workout, dont work out if its so sore that you cant really do anything else with that muscle workout for example like your triceps if there so sore you cant put your hands over your head, and that has happened to me and i took a day rest and it helps and you can workout it out but with light weight and high reps. make sure you get some sleep too your muscles wont grow without restmakhou wrote:If u r getting sore that often that means u r resting too much. Both too much rest, and too little rest (combined with lots of work) will result in soreness.
Of the two, too little rest (with lots of work) is potentially more damaging.

So should I still lift even when im sore or continue because I have worked out the past two days monday doing upper and tuesday doing lower and body is pretty sore all over. What I plan to do is lift upper thursday and lower body friday and keep that routine for awhile. Since im sore Im still gona lift but just not as much. I am basing this from some sources of this forum. Thanks all for the advice I think it has solved confusion.

Soreness at the beginning of a new routine is common and not a problem. If the soreness persists over several weeks of training then I would re-examine the routine and scheduling to see if it can be modified to eliminate the soreness.
"No pain, no gain" rhymes nicely but does not represent a good training guide.
