I would strongly disagree they are for the lazy. more so for hardcores that cant get big fast enough. those guys are dedicated if anything. most steriod users that I know pay more attention to their diet and training than anyone else. no point in wasting 1000 bucks just because your lazy it dosent make sense.
In oppinion if you want it that bad and your wallet and body can handle it do it. To each his own right?
not the topic for this disscussion so thats all i have to say.
thanks anyways clem

Steroids are not for the lazy.
It is widely misunderstood as building muscles. It does not.
It allows you to work harder and recover faster. It it the harder work and the more frequent training that makes you bigger and stronger. The steroids don't make you stronger; they allow you to train harder to be stronger.
If you took steroids and did not train you would not get stronger.
The pity of the steroids is that the people who use it do put in the huge efforts in training.
If you want to pick something for the lazy, then pick blood doping. You can improve your performance without any work at all by doping your blood.

I agree, Steroids require hard work to make something happen, and in some cases some Steroid types are prescribed for things like burns, skin problems etc etc.
I am going to try and comment here, without creating a negative response, by first of all saying, I'm not going to be critical of Clem, as Clem has been a very positive individual since joining, but I would say that on certain controversial topics, Clem and indeed all of us, sometimes need to take time to think about what's being said, as obviously discussions like this, can sometimes cause confusion, or misinterpreted responses, and in this case a response that might have come, from a slightly uneducated background.
I don't believe anyone meant to offend anyone else, and I respect Katies response for not being over the top.
I won't pry into your situation Katie, but of course I will wish you lots of luck with everything. I hope what you are considering or may have to go through, works out for you, as you are someone that deserves the best in life, and we all know what a wonderful, genuine, honest and supportive person you are, and as I say I am not prying, nor is it right to know anything, but of course if you ever need to talk, or get anything off your chest, you can get in touch privately just like before, and have a discreet one to one anytime.
I'm sure Cassie wouldn't object if I said that goes for her too, as that's what moderators can be here for, to care about and respect someones sensitive issues, and to give people that little extra bit of support, when they feel they need it.
That's all I'll say for now though

I'm sorry if I offended anyone but it is just opinion. I jumped a little quick into saying under any circumstance but such as bossman said for things like burns, skin problems, etc is a different issue and there are grey areas such as injuries. I under stand what steroids do and understand people still have to work hard to see results. However, If someone is really focused on there body on nutrition and exercise then steroids only act as a shortcut to their ultimate goal and thats what I find lazy. I know a decent amount of people who take steroids and they are great guys but it won't change opinion on the matter. Didn't mean to stir the pot here.
katie you seem to be defending people who use steroids for medical conditions and on that topic I agree with you. Again i'll apologize as I over generalized with original post and was thinking just in terms of people who use it for performance/looks. Lazy isn't the best word to describe it (even though thats how I see it) and I guess everyone has their owns reasons for doing what they do.
Good point on the Goitrogens. Goitrogens do occur in things like Cruciferous vegtables, Broccoli being one, and yes can have Thyroid implications, but almost certainly in high doses, same with Iodine in Shellfish.
I'm not going to disagree per se on the Hormones being Steroids thing, but I would politely disagree about Cholesterol as a Hormone, as Hormone production is governed by the Hypothalamus, along with thirst, satiety, sleep patterns and body temperature.
Cholesterol is a liver substance, I don't believe the production of which is governed by that area of the Brain, and also is a Lipid, or fatty substance for anyone who might not be aware. It has the capacity to go rancid same as any fats. I wouldn't think a hormone could go rancid, nor could Anabolics.
Plus there isn't to knowledge any medicinal treatments containing Cholesterol, as that could raise the possibility of Heart attack risk, from icnreased Blood Cholesterol.
As I say, I'm politely disagreeing, on that point only. I liked your post Kaite, and I always like what you have to say. Your understanding is always valued.
Clem, I agree with your right to have a specific stance on a subject like this. When such discussions happen, I see disagreement, objectively put, as healthy, so again I wouldn't judge someone for it.

Proper nutrition before and after a workout can help a lot, as well as warming up thoroughly before hand, cooling down after (including stretching).
Also, if you're sore, try some light cardio or something. Light bike riding or something like that, just to make your heart work a little more. That seems to help too.

Luckily (or perhaps not) I've always been able to get strong enough quickly enough to injure myself. Steroids would have just hastened the injuries.
A couple of observations from experience.
First, the guys that I knew that used steroids developed nasty acne all over their bodies. (In the magazines they oil up the models and spray them with water to look like sweat; a close look will reveal that some of the "sweat beads" are actually boils). I worked out at a gym in Las Vegas once and they had a spray bottle of alcohol and towels to wipe down the benches because of the residue puss on them.
Second, the guys that I knew had significant personality shifts when they went on steroids. They became very intense, irritable and aggressive.
Third, there seems to be a psychological addiction to the stuff. You feel strong and you like the feeling of getting strong and recovering quickly. It is addictive.
Forth, there are many risks associated with steroids and not enough knowledge about them for really safe use (in opinion). At the gym where I worked out the American Heart Association had a nurse there for high blood pressure screening. One of the guys on steroids had such high blood pressure that the nurse called an ambulance and would not let him leave on his own.
I don't know if there is enough solid information to safely use the stuff; there is so much bad information that it is difficult to cull the good from the bad.
So, as long as you have looked long and hard and reasoned well and thoughtfully, follow your own guidance.
personal recommendation let your body develop naturally.

I don't think you got too strong too fast. You must have done something wrong. I've experienced massive strength boosts a few times, seemingly out of nowhere, and I was never injured. I know how hard to push myself, though.
Anyway, about the 'roids, I seem them as cheating. If you use them, you're pathetic and you'll never be great.
That's just view on it.
