Also remember to keep your eyes focused on a point ahead of you and do not look down at the ground.
I find it best to look at some point on the far wall that is at standing height and keep looking at it as I squat down. This will keep your back arced correctly and will help maintain your balance.
This same technique is what you should use when doing lunges to maintain your balance.

Used the squat rack today and it was just what I needed. Plus it's fun going to a different piece of equipment. And I was able to add the weight needed for legs without concern for arms - I was seriously sweating when I was done, which I love.
I ordered some hooks to help me with deadlifts and such. I'll let you know how it goes. I haven't seen anyone at the gym I go to use them, but I want to lift heavier weights than grip allows so I'm going to go for it.
