For someone beginning, the full body workout is great. Usually I don't start splitting up the body until the clients recovery starts getting affected from the training volume. For you, if you are just starting out, i would stick to the whole body workout 3x a week. Get the basics down first, then once you get more advanced, start splitting things up. Just suggestion.

I understand and think I will take your advice Scott, thanks.
Re: New with a few questions
I myself, do full body..I used to do splits 2 years ago. However I like to do supersets, keep HR up & generally not stand around. As is sometimes the case when hitting one muscle group 2 or 3 times in a session..you need rest times.A pound of lean mass burns an extra 45 calories a day, however a pound of lean mass PLUS an elevated HR for 45 to 60 mins ( full body ) will burn more, in the long run. At least thats take on it.
I think in splits most people actually devote one entire session to legs...one to chest & tri, back & bi...then shoulders. If you are doing cardiovascular also, do it after the weights or on a different day...so monday chest & tri... tuesday cardio or off wednesday..back & bi.... thursday cardio or off..friday ..shoulders...saturday..legs...abs 3 x. Sunday off.

Re: New with a few questions
I think I will stick with full body for now, and I usually wrap up with a run for cardio (it's not enough but I'm working on more cardio). I will be meeting with the trainer soon to get some more tips, I used all that I could remember today in work out and could feel it a LOT more in muscles when doing the lifts and exercises.
