Yea, but that was afterwards under the influence, at least it wasn't before when sober, so I think she could be allowed that moment.

LOL! I was kind of wondering about telling his sister not to let this happen again. However, most people these days do get married a couple of times... pretty common really.

Yeah hopefully it goes ok. I'm not much of a family-functions-kinda gal. In fact, I hate these kinds of things (shhhh don't tell boyfriend). Soooo really kind of dreading it. Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. I'd really rather just stay home by myself. I'm a total hermit.

So fitness camp?!?! Sounds fun! What does this entail?

I'm about 90% sure we should call it "death camp" rather than "booty camp" but I'll take notes and give you a full report when I get back!
Hmmm...I probably wouldn't use that term, if I were you. Sorry to be the killjoy; just a little bit of advice.

Cassie, I am really surprised your trainer wants you to cut out your Omega 3 FAs, but wants you to add PB and avocado. Peanuts and avocado have a higher Omega 6: Omega 3 ratio. I'm inclined to tell you to go by your instincts on this one.
Thanks Katie. To be honest, I still haven't added the avacado, but have added 1 tbs peanut butter and kept up with the omega 3s. Yesterday afternoon cravings were gone... just disappeared (which was one reason that she suggested adding the fats... thought they might help with cravings). Not sure if it was that extra tbs of peanut butter that i've been doing or if it was just mind getting tired of thinking about food. Either way.. I think i'll stick with the peanut butter and keep taking the fish pills and see what happens. Training for this comp has been such an experiment! Trainer also suggested I cut back on oatmeal and increase sweet potatoes... was doing 1/4-1/2 cup oatmeal for meal 1, then doing another 1/4-1/3 cup for meal 2 or 3.... I've been craving sweets like mad and the oats with eggwhites and cinnamon seem to satisfy me. What do you think about that? Do you think switching to sweet potatoes would make that much of a difference? This morning I did 1/4 cup oats and 1/4 cup sweet potatoes with 6 eggwhites... Didn't taste too bad. I guess I'll keep up with this and see what happens. I imagine it wouldn't hurt to switch up the diet a bit as i'm sure body has pretty much adapted to the foods i've been eating.

Omega 6's promote are good for anti-inflammatory properties, when not taken in excess, or they can potentially promote inflammation.

The Linoleic Acid converts to something called Steridonic acid, but more importantly to Arachidonic Acid, the one that helps or hinders with inflammation.

The A A helps with things like Prostiglandin levels, which affect the inflammation, blood clotting and flow, and the Smooth Muscle, one of two involuntary types of muscle, (Cardiac being the other), and it exists around the bladder and intestinal tract, to help with the passage of food.

So Omega 6 is beneficial, normally found in Meat, Eggs and Dairy.

Though the Alpha Linolenic Acid omega 3, is something that helps with Cholesterol levels, and positively interacts with Test and GH levels, then converts in part to the Fish Fats EPA and DHA. It also converts to Gamma Linolenic Acid, (GLA), and Di-hommo Gamma Linolenic Acid, (DGLA), kind of offshoot Fats if you will.

The increased Fats could be to allow for more Fat burning. Think about it, you have an energy surplus from lowered Carbs, your body would use some Fat to compensate, but if it didn't have as much to use as it should, it would then choose either muscle or Protein.

increasing Fats has improved your energy levels perhaps, but importantly, it could be seen as eating it to burn more of it, kind of like using Abs to build them, if that makes sense.

29 Days to go!

Yes trainer was suggesting that I increase fats to help me to burn more fat... and I understand that often increasing healthy fat intake is a great way to increase fat loss. She was also thinking the increased fat would help with cravings. The reason that I am hesitant to increase fats so much is because I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of body and how it works and feel like increasing fats and calories that much this close to the comp could potentially do more harm than good. The diet that I have been following is working and I feel like i'm losing a healthy amount of fat each week and honestly don't feel like I need to be losing any more nor do i feel like i could lose any more without losing some much needed muscle. Knowing body and the diet that I've been following for the past 5 months now I'm pretty sure that increasing calories and fat this close to the comp could set me back as I feel like body would be very likely to store the "excess" calories. I feel like I've worked so hard for so long now and I am really hesitant to try anything new this close to the show. Did I mention that she also suggested that I increase protein intake to 260 grams per day? When I was talking to her about diet it really felt like she was just kind of throwing stuff out there like "hey give this a try and see if it works for ya"... And don't get me wrong, shes been in the industry for a long time and her advice may very well work just fine. However, I feel like I understand body better than anyone so will continue to take advice and apply it carefully. :)

Tonight after work we leave for the coast. Should be interesting! I've been preparing food for the past couple of days and should have everything that I need to stay on diet while away. I'm still a little concerned about being able to find a time to workout while I'm away... Hope that goes ok! I guess I'll just have to make it work.

I hope everybody has a great weekend!!!

Cassie!! I just read a little (okay, well...a lot) of your figure competition journal and I have to say, I am sooo stinkin' proud of you it just (literally) brings tears to eyes! Having known you since you were a wee lass and knowing all the struggles you've dealt with throughout your life, knowing your family, etc., etc. many people in your shoes would have been coming up with excuses why they 'couldn't' do what you're doing...but not Cassie... Cassie is kicking butt and taking names! Dude, you are seriously an inspiration to all of us here...myself included!

Anybody up for a Cassie Gose fan club??? ;o) GO CASSIE!!!

3 weeks and 2 days... HOLY CRAP!

Post by cassiegose »

Soooo today I'm 23 days away from the competition and I'm definitely nervous... stressed... and worried that I won't be ready in time. Where on earth did the past 20 weeks go!!!

I've spent the past 5 days away at the coast running around like a chicken with his head cut off and really struggling to stay with the program. In the last 5 days I've been running on little sleep, not enough water, high stress, and not enough time to get in meals at 2-3 hour intervals. Its been a nightmare and I really hope it didn't set me back too far with training. Luckily, I was able to wake up every morning and hit the gym (hence the small amount of sleep.. had to hit the gym before the rest of the family was awake to ensure I could get workouts in) but wasn't able to go back for usual 45 minutes of afternoon cardio so simply made morning workouts extra long to offset the missed night workouts. For the most part, I was able to stick to the diet fairly closely, however there were times where I wasn't able to eat food so had to grab whatever I could to get in enough protein and there were times where we were so busy running around that I would go 4 or 5 hours without eating. I didn't do the cheat meal that was recommended by trainer (just couldn't bring myself to do it) but did have quite a bit of fruit one night so counted that as a cheat... and had a TON of energy the next morning for workout. water intake for the past 5 days pretty much sucked. The water at the hotel where we stayed tasted so bad that I couldn't bring myself to drink it (I know I should have just gagged it down anyways but had a really hard time doing so)... and alot of the time didn't have time to even think about drinking water as we were scambling around getting prepared for the wedding. I stepped on the scale this morning and was glad to see that I hadn't gained any weight... however I was also pretty frustrated to see that it has now been 2 weeks since I've made progress on the scale. I'm drinking water like a camel right now so am really hoping that once I rehydrate I'll be able to flush system out and maybe see some progress. I'm definitely a bit puffy today from the increased sodium that I ate over the weekend.

I've decided that for the next 3 weeks i'm simply going to work harder than I've ever worked in life and see what I can do with body. I've cut out gum today... and cut back on oatmeal. I've also cut out the peanut butter that trainer suggested I add in and will definitely not be doing any cheat meals for the next 3 weeks. I'm also planning on adding in a couple extra sessions of HIIT each week to really see if I can crank things up a notch. I've also dairy and am sticking strictly to asparagus, green beans, and spinach for veggies and boiled chicken, eggwhites, sirloin, and fish for protein. The next 3 weeks are going to SUCK, however I will feel horrible if I have to step up on stage knowing that I could have done better, worked harder, eaten cleaner, and done better. I still don't feel like i'm going to be 100% ready for this first competition... however I also realize that I can't be too harsh on myself with everything that I've had to deal with while training for this competition.

With that said... I do have some very exciting news to share... On Monday boyfriend proposed to me so I'm now ENGAGED!!!! I'm pretty freaking excited.... and I feel like the luckiest girl in the whole world!!!    I honestly can't believe that he would want to marry me with how terrible I've been on this stupid diet and training program!! I've been a very cranky girl and I'm lucky that hes stuck with through this challenging, stressful, and exhausting time in life.

So thats all thats new with me. I hope everybody is having a lovely week and wondeful day! Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!

That's what cha do when you love someone...."in good times and in bad..in sickness and in health...and when your mate is training her butt off for the competition of her life!" (don't think that's in there, but you can add it) :D

Cassie, he is a very, very lucky guy. He has a person who is beautiful inside and out in his life. He was a trillion dollar human being, and a person in his life, who is human in one of the purest ways, and absolutely a fantastic rolemodel and inspiration to others.

You deserve all the happiness you can get, especially after past issues in your life. There are people like you who don't get what they richly deserve, and that's a consequence of a world largely ruled by fate, circumstance and the ravages of nature.

If there is some justice here, you will be one of the ones that gets all the sunshine, warmth, rainbows, love and happiness you deserve, every single second of hopefully a long and fulfilling life.

This is another beginning, for one of lifes true unsung greats. Nobody spectacular in human terms, no one who has lead a nation, or made a big discovery, but in the world of the ordinary is quite special and extraordinary. A person most of whom will never know in any way, and never know about, but someone that goes on touching all of us, so much.

You deserve the special moment you will soon enough get. The moment where a good man looks at you and knows that you are completely his betrothed. The one that hopefully he will never ever forget the value of, and never take for granted. The young Lady that in law will have become 100% his partner.

You are someone I hope has the greatest, happiest future anyone deserves to have. You have shown to us what sort of person you are, and you have no doubt humbled us all a lot, and been someone who reminded us, that we are why we are, because it's what is right and should be in the world. We are what being human should be, and your example of that, reminds us all that we can be proud of ourselves, for being similar kinds of people to you.

CONGRATULATIONS to you. This moment of pure elation, couldn't have happened to a nicer person literally.

I am certainly very proud of you, for how far you have come in just 25 years. Be proud of you too, because there is still plenty more amazing and wonderful things to come and for you still to do.

I hope you and your man will always feel eternally special together. He has sounded like a guy that absolutely deserves someone like you. I hope he will always prove himself still deserving. It's a tall order, to be the kind of partner someone like you deserves, and not a chance many men should be allowed to have, so for him to pass the test with flying colours says a lot about him.

It wouldn't matter even if I thought anything untoward, as it's your life, and you don't need approval for the same reasons, but you will have highest approval anyway, and I hope it will be accepted in the manner it is given.

Great news indeed :).
Congrats, Cassie!!! You've been working hard, and any guy who can put up with an intense diet and training regimen is definitely worth keeping!! :-)
Thanks! Oh girl you have no idea! The poor guy deserves a medal for what he's been putting up with lately! Hes definitely a keeper! Not only does he put up with "no carb crabbys" but he supports me 100% with diet and training and is happy to help prepare meals, buy groceries, and haul crabby butt to the gym. Hes a saint.... and I am blessed. :)
