Treadmill today - 3 miles. Just trying to make sure I do something everyday.

Precious ( Pom) needs surgery again  She has stones in her bladder and kidneys - partial renal failure :( Surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday.

It's been touch and go with little girl Precious. I took her to the VET yesterday morning for fluids and guess is she might have passed the stone in the later afternoon just before guests arrived...she went into spasms, almost looked like she was having seizures....at least 7 times every couple of minutes..it was AWFUL - she was in such pain! She's been ok ever since, so I'm praying it passed.....and she won't need surgery. They will take X-rays before doing anything, and they will also check her kidney function. Even without the stone in her bladder, she still had damaged kidneys, stones and crystals :(
Yesterday I came down with major sneezing, runny nose - completely stuffed up - so I wont be working out until I'm well again.

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to you all!

Thank you. Precious is at the vets now, she was scheduled for surgery, but not sure they will do it today. They plan to take an Xray and try to figure out what's going on. The spasms, seizures were not part of the bladder stones per the vet, he figures something to do with her kidneys.......also she's not having urinary tract issue symptoms..and I think the vet feels surgery will not resolve her problems....only removing a stone that may or may not be causing issues? It gets so confusing...but unfortunately I think the vet feels her kidney issue will shorten her life, why submit her to surgery when in the end her kidneys will fail :( Her body makes crystals, stones....her diet apparently hasn't helped no matter what we do :(

I've been sick all week, taking Aleve D, the only thing that makes me able to function. I haven't been able to to work out - I think I need to start the new year in better shape and get on track again.

Wishing you are a safe and healthy new year!

first dog (shih tzu) was diagnosed with kidney failure when he was 6 - he only had about 25% of his kidneys functioning. The vet said he had a few days to live but had us start giving him fluids daily (through and IV, we did this at home). He died when he was 12 so he made it 6 years longer than they expected. They nicknamed him "Miracle" at the vet :D So don't give up hope! I hope Precious is doing well, I can't imagine what I would do if little Stewie were in that position right now - they are like family so I know how hard it is for you. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better as well!

Thanks for all your best wishes for little girl - she is doing ok, eating and drinking periodically - very fussy. They did not perform surgery - they couldn't find the stone, but she does have kidney damage. What bothers me most now is that she goes into bedroom closet (it's a big one, but still) and stays there most of the day. when I try to bring her out she shakes....it's like she is a nervous wreck?! We had out wood floors re-done this summer and now with the cold the floors are expanding and contracting and making a loud cracking noises at times - I think it has made her very skittish - she was already a wreck when we had thunderstorms...I'm not sure whether this is why she shakes, or if she is in pain (vet said it could be)

I've been playing nursemaid to husband who is even sicker than I was.Exercise has taken a back seat, but if shoveling snow counts, I guess I have been exercising. I have been watching what I eat - and seem to be losing some weight...today though I made a lasagna, very tasty - made it with a combination of ground turkey and hot sausage sauteed together then added sauce - layered with no bake lasagna, meat sauce, seasoned rigotta mixture (oregano, and basil), zucchini and of course mozzarella/parmesan cheese....Baked 30 minutes covered with tin foil, then 15 minutes without at 350. Not sure why I shared that - probably not that great for you but it was surely a treat for us :)

I so look forward to a sick free house and a normal workout schedule :)
