Hi, Lynne, good luck on your race tomorrow. Sounds like so much fun! :D Yes, the split up exercise seems to be working along with the carb timing. Slowly but surely things are moving. It's not always easy to get that evening exercise in. I just had dinner and giving some time then off to the gym I go at 8:30 p.m.! Your vacation is definetly some great motivation. I am going to get husband from school in Fla late next month and we will be spending a few days there ALONE! so I am really putting it into high gear this week. Is good that you are getting really conscious with your food. When you stop to read the labels it's like...whoa! I haven't used the Fit tracker yet but I think I may try it. Seems a bit tedious putting all that info in there, tho. I really hate recording stuff. Yeah, the people in office think I am crazy too. Comes with the territory! LOL Soooo, have a great race tomorrow. Will be looking for your results! :D

It shouldn't be that hard if I do run in the a.m., then do a bodyweight workout or a dvd workout in the early evening, then continue to be strict with diet, watch the calories and fat grams. I'm excited!! :D :D
Hmmmm...sounds like a line out of book! If I can only stay with you on this - I KNOW you will do it and I'm determined too! so Lynne - we both have the same goal, same time frame and in our own ways we will succeed!

Hi guys! Thanks for all the well wishes. :D It was a great race. There were only finisher medals, no age group awards...BUT! finishing time was 1 minute 3 seconds faster than last months 5K race...so an improvement! Since I didn't know where I would stand in the results, I just focused on finishing with a faster time, so I am happy. Felt much better than last months race - just stronger and lighter :P although I'm not doing another weigh in until next Friday - so won't officially know weight until then, but I feel like I may have lost some, definitely could tell a difference in energy levels and endurance in this race. Still a lot of work to do, but overall a great day and a great race!

new profile pic is from today's race. :D

Thanks Les. :D No, son didn't run this race, but hopefully will get to run one coming up in May.

Awww...thanks Lu! I sure hope I've lost some inches! When I put running shorts on this morning they were actually loose in the waist - and I just thought to myself that they must be getting old and stretched out - never considering the fact that maybe...just maybe it was because I have gotten smaller!! 8) I have been used to being stuck at the same size for so long :?

Thanks Bonnie, I'm hoping this new lower carb thing is beginning to pay off. Although I did have some today...after the race parents took me and son out to eat and I had 3 pancakes w/syrup - OMGosh...I wanted to swim in the syrup, it was SO good!!! I ate it very slow, savoring each bite...after all, it was "cheat" meal...so i wanted to enjoy it. Then I got home and was so sleepy I had to take a nap!! guess it was all those carbs crashing in system.. .anyway, it's back to business now..lots of work to do to get ready for the next race 3 weeks from now and for our vacation coming up in 12 weeks! :D

Yes, I did have a blast, it was a great day weather wise - about 50 degrees, sunny skies. The race was ran along some old country farm/ranch roads. Beautiful scenery, pastures, rolling hills, hayfields (sneeze) and beautiful spring time blooms. Loved it!

Today I did a plyometric workout with son in the backyard. :D Taught him (which turned into a challenge) how to do a standing long jump, running long jump and a triple jump. Many moons ago I had the school record (geez, I sound like an old fart, don't I?! ) in the standing long jump (7ft. 2 in.) and in the running long jump (16ft 4 in.) so now he has a purpose in life....to beat Mom's record! Which I have no doubt he will not only beat it, but far surpass it in no time.
But it was a good workout for me. Lots of sprints, jumps, hops - ohhh... aching knees....they ain't what they used to be...lol!! But, hey...what a blessing it is to still be able to do those things and to have fun with boy. I call it a good day. :D

Thanks Will. We are very close. And I do cherish every day with him. He is fast approaching his teens, so I know that before long his interests are going to change, and the LAST thing he will want to do is to spend time with his mother - :? He is an only child - so I am both "parent" and "playmate", and sometimes it is hard to find the right balance of the two. One of the hardest things I have had to learn about being a parent is to not hinder him or hold him back, but allow him to grow up and mature. Part of me is thrilled to see him grow and learn and become a young man - and part of me wants to hold him, care for his every need, and all his "boo-boo's". This parenting stuff is hard! 8)
