Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Minced Beef has a decent ratio of good to bad fat, not superb, but decent, plus Potato is a good Carb and Vit C souce. obviosly not having a massive amount of potato is preferable because it's high GI, is it will impact on Bloodsugar more than a lot of other Carbs, but if you're only having something like that 1-2 times a week, it's not really an issue.
Other people may workout and drink, but there's no real need to drink at all, so if you're that fussed every time you do it, just don't bother and make excuses like you don't think it's good for you, so you'd prefer not to bother. Any real friends would understand, especially if in such situations you personality or attitude doesn't change, which is shouldn't.

Well about the drinking at first i was thinking about it, but obviously where i drunk a bit more i didn't care lol, but saying that, i dont do it all the time anyway, and it was nice to have a good night out for a change. So everything in moderation right?Boss Man wrote:Minced Beef has a decent ratio of good to bad fat, not superb, but decent, plus Potato is a good Carb and Vit C souce. obviosly not having a massive amount of potato is preferable because it's high GI, is it will impact on Bloodsugar more than a lot of other Carbs, but if you're only having something like that 1-2 times a week, it's not really an issue.

Day 286
legs are dead and hurting from jogging yesterday, dunno if it's because i didn't stretch or haven't jogged in a long time/ was tired etc but it's mainly right leg, around the joints and i feel muscle pain, even around ankles, so it's good to finally be in after college lol.
Breakfast, protein shake with semi skimmed milk and a big bowl of bran flakes.
Break and lunch had 4 wholemeal slices of bread, with peanut butter and chicken pieces.
Got home, had half pack of peanuts, maybe 200 cals, was a small bag, dry roasted, a pear, slice of whole meal bread and some chicken.
I think i'll leave working out today as il end up not being able to do it as good tomorow. Plus where im aching a bit, might just do some pushups, pull ups or something.
However im really concerned. I've been so veiny lately and it bothers me because i never used to be, mum is saying it's from doing weights, and overdoing it, but i don't see how as im not "big" or anything. What can i do to avoid this because id rather not have veins sticking out everywhere to make it look like ive been doing heroin. She also said you have to be careful because once your veins are like that they won't go away?
Smallish bowl of fruit shreaded wheat, some ocean sticks, bits of chicken and cottage cheese.
Re: Fat Around Button Area?
I'm really concerned guys, i was going to do weights tomorow, but ive had a chat with mum and all, and i listen to what people have to say and im worried about how i look due to the veins. Before she had some veins that had to be removed in her legs which came to mind is it redeteary as hands have been quite veiny before, and she was just saying how i won't feel comfortable wearing a t shirt where summer is coming and all, and i just used to say it didn't bother me, but now i have a close look i am concerned.
Is this down to the weights, is it something else, lack of certain food, sleep, or something?
I am worried and don't know what to do, i don't want to get more veins, and if anything would like them to go down, but of corse i don't want to give up on routine ive done for almost a year, what is the right thing to do, and please be honest with me, as mum said just think about what your gaining and losing, and that stuck to me alot, even now as im typing this, hands look terrible, almost as if ive been taking heroin, it actually scares me to be honest.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
I often get very veinous during workouts, mainly when doing Arm work, but it subisdes after a while. I think it's partly due to fat % and partly due to inflation of the Veins with increased bloodflow, as Arms are typically less fat storers than other places, but I'm in dencet shape anyways, so that increases ability to be veinous in the Arms.
I'd keep doing what you do and see how things pan out.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Thanks guys and perhaps Les, which is why im unsure about the fat, or as a couple of you guys said, it's just skin around , so what can i do about that skin?
I didn't workout today as i was concerned about veins, not just for health reasons, but for how they look, i don't want to go out in the summer in a t shirt to a massive veiny arm, it looks disgusting. hands are soooo veiny, dunno why, maybe it's just me, but forearms are too, and it's not like either are huge or even big. I hope they will fill out and look properly, as i never noticed this before til now, i do want to continue working out and all, but i don't want the veins getting any worse, if anything id like them to go down a bit/look better. I mean it's not like i take any drugs, maybe a stupid question, but do you think protein powder is to do with it?
Day 288
Breakfast, bran flakes and protein shake.
Snacking on peanuts.
Can of beans, slice of wholemeal bread, pear.
Dinner, 2 jacket potatoes, few carrots, and a can of tuna.

Day 289
Breakfast protein shake with a small amount of semi skimmed milk, biggish bowl of bran flakes.
Kiwi, about 200 cals worth of dry roasted peanuts.
Can of beans, mini babybell (cheese)
Did 3 sets of 6 reps pull ups, going to do workout, however legs have only just got better, so may do a little bit legs but not alot.
So it all looks good, then bam terrible.
Once again i failed. Had 15kg (should be heavier by now) on each dumbbell already for last session, set up the bench, as usual all wobbly unbalanced cutting hands just setting it up as i can't even make the damn thing go incline as i think the bolts are crossthreaded inside. So yeah, did about 3 sets of 6, which again isn't enough, and form was probably bad as i had to have elbows a bit crossed when coming up, should be flat, i did try but then i dropped the weight. So then i put 54kg on the barbell which i did last time, did 2 sets, 1st was 8 2nd i think was 6, ok so not too bad, then went down for the 3rd, catched head on it where the bench press wobbling everywhere and just snapped, ive been so aggressive lately, i don't know why, i was all stuffy hot no breeze horrible weather on me as well as getting hot by doing the workout and i just slammed the door and broke something, so even more trouble 4 me. Just been thinking about things, i sat on the bench thinking about how driving test is in a week and lesson yesterday went bad (instructor said he was concerned for test), last day to cancel is tomorow but then next tests avaliable are for august too long. How i can't get a job therefore can't pay for new equipment like a new bench, and having to change weight discs every single time for even 1 type of exercise it's so frustrating. I was just thinking about things and i may aswell broke down, got emotional and actually started to cry, but i tried wiping away the tears and got on with it only to pick up the weight ( right hand was too far over and left wernt, left wrist always gives in early which doesn't let me push maxs, another problem wrong with me), so i tried to balance it out and then i dropped the weight, but as i did i pushed it to the right to thankfully? not hurt myself. This just isn't right, i want to gain well and all, im eating the right foods but workout is slacking, the only 2 times i went to the gym was fun, but i shouldn't have to go to the gym, homework outs are good, if you have the room, equipment which is actually useful, and not having to be sweating hot everytime you go to workout!
God, i really need some advise guys, i haven't had a solid workout for a long time and im losing progress, im feeling very snappy, aggressive and angry alot of the time. I dunno if it's the protein powder? May sound stupid, dad has said it a few times before. But i just need to get back on track, im doing this all wrong and it's going to get to the point where i do something i regret, and please don't think im feeling sorry for myself i really want to gain, but just started doing it, looking at the amount of veins in hands and forearms, and straight away it put me off, i don't want to look like some heroin addict, i want to look good, im eating the right stuff, but when it comes to the workouts, i say to myself im really going to try, and i am determined, but when it comes down to it, i just crumble like nothing, nothing is driving me on, and after i dropped the weight and feel weaker than normal, i just think, you know i shouldn't be working out right now if im dropping the weight, il end up hurting myself, so i had to come and express, myself, even if it's only in text, as no one around me would understand. Another thing is i find temptation alot harder, i often find myself picking at things, even if there only small bits and pieces. For example, i just had a mini choclate muffin, not big or anything, but it's not going to get me where i want and i know that. I just dunno what's gotten into me lately.
So thanks.

It's fine, ive been thinking about doing something similar, however i do want to tone up a bit, like ive said pecs, i just need something to give me more motivation, less temptation and just to feel good, but like when i look at veins i don't want to make things worse, i am determined, i just need to make sure i am when it comes to workouts, brentyboy wrote:Martin, don't take any of this the wrong way. I have no intention of trying to insult you or make you feel bad, I have lots of better things to do, but I want to offer you a suggestion. Why not try something different that has some structure for you? I've pretty much followed this saga from the beginning and I keep seeing the same thing over and over and over - find any excuse to quit. Again, don't get me wrong, I think you can do it, you are doing it, in spite of yourself. Why don't you sign up for karate or taekwondo or something that has structure and perhaps there will be some m-a-l-e role models. Who cares about weights and cardio? Seriously, man until you get your head right, the body cannot and WILL NOT follow.
Brent
Dinner, mash and peas, will have some chicken or some source of protein later when i get hungry.
I think if i finally plan out a routine for every day of the week things will be better, as i'll have something set to do, wether than thinking on the day and confusing myself.

No problem when I clicked was a temporary error or your computer has some kind of issue.
Maybe it will work again when you have another click or two.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
I'l rewatch that video now as i do want to work out myself, but in body and all i just don't feel like it at all, could be where ive only been up about 20minutes, but i really want to look good for the summer, and the way it's going it's not going to happen, so going to watch that video now.
Day 290
Breakfast, protein shake with small bit of semi skimmed milk, big bowl of bran flakes with semi skimmed milk - probably a bit greedy here, i know bran flakes is good for you, but i did have a big bowl
Did a workout on a teen workout video i saw, basically did, push ups, 3 sets of dumbbell flys reps 6-8 15kg each dumbbell
Dumbbell press, same as flys,
Pull ups on garden feature, however i don't think i should be doing it on there, it's just so much comfortable where it's outside with rest of weights, high up and plenty of room to expand arms. However did 3 sets, 6 reps on the last set did 4 as i was worried it would break.
Did 22kg dumbbell weight bent over rows using bench, 3 sets each arm reps 7-8
Did 2 sets bicep curls on each arm, tried using bench to lean elbow on but didn't work well, so just did standing up, reps 4-6, about 14kg dumbbell weight.
3 Sets of french press, only 8kg weight each dumbbell though, and reps about 8.
Also did 3 sets of crunches.
I feel alot weaker in myself, however decided to take some pics, and was going to take pics of the area ive been working out in to show you there isn't alot of space, i'll do that tomorow if i remember to.
But yeah, the main idea of these pics is to ask advise from you guys on what i need to work on in your opinion. Thanks and please be honest. Also to show you the veins i have been concerned about in hands/arms.

Wow if you're fat then I'm morbidly obese. I don't even see the skin you're talking about. If I were to give any advice it'd be to eat more, a lot more. You're SKINNY. Good food, of course. The veins are there because you are who you are. I've got veins too, especially after workout. It's normal! I'd guess if you were to gain some weight they'd be less visible.

I agree with Fygle - reading your posts I pictured you to be a heavy person based on how you talk about yourself. You are the exact opposite of what I pictured! I don't see the skin you are talking about either, and I don't think your veins look abnormal at all. You definitely have a distorted idea of what you look like compared to what others see. You need to stop being so hard on yourself!

Les, you crack me up!!
Martin- I agree with Jocelyn and Fygle. Your image of yourself is not a reality. I have been following this thread and it is quite heartbreaking to me. A young man should be having fun and not obsessing over perceived body "flaws". I feel perhaps you would benefit from some psychological counselling for your issues. There, I said it! Phew, that is a load off chest. We are all here for you but as Brent said you need to your head first. What I see in those pics is a healthy young person's body! Relax and enjoy life while taking care of your body and mind in a healthy way!!

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Thanks guys, im trying to bulk up, been eating chicken pieces and jumbo prawns, but been picking at bits on the side, small bits of foods i shouldn't be eating just because there there, and that temptation has gone right down hill, just gone through alot lately, had to cancel test today as i wasn't ready for it, it's next week, but i feel it's down to the car, it's a new one, so the clutch is bouncy and all, i felt comfortable with last instructors car, but he stopped doing it and piled on the pressure for me to do a mock test within driving this new car for 2 hours. So yeah alot of crap there. But thanks alot for the feedback, the "fat" im normally seeing is when im bent over/ sitting down, but yeah hopefully don't look too bad and can bulk up!!

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
I have names for rolls....
And your hands look fine. I think hands with some veins showing is actually quite attractive - very masculine looking.
Now on the other hand...no pun intended -
(I crack myself up!) I have very "veiny" hands myself. Always have. It doesn't bother me a bit. I'm kinda proud of 'em. they have been hard earned.
And as Sandi says...you should be enjoying your life - have fun - don't worry so much about every tiny detail of your body. You look fine. It takes so much mental energy to worry over so much - I have been guilty of it in the past, having suffered from low self esteem and low self confidence. So, I can tell you from experience, that looking back on it now, I wish i hadn't worried so much about outward appearance, and instead just concentrated on inward self (attitude, belief in myself, acceptance of myself). I would have been a much happier and better person, not only to myself, but to those in life who loved me - just as i was.
I hate to see you go down that same road. what's going on in the inside (kind of what Brent said) and trust me...your outlook about your outside will change.
I think alot of us have been following along in your journey and wish only the best for you. So, please listen to what we are saying, it is out of concern for you and because we care about your well being.
