Oh, trust me, I enjoyed it while I was eating it...I practically licked the grease soaked paper it came in! It was afterwards...when I was finished, that the guilt feelings started to creep in. Now, if it had been some nice dark chocolate slice of cake or pie....that would have been a different story!!

Small note. Fruit may not digest as well when in the pesence of Yoghurt. It has something to do with certain enzymes, having a mild dislike to each other.

You could consume Yoghurt that either plain or Nutty instead, or have the Fruit, then a plain Yoghurt, 10-15 minutes later, for increased digestion of Fruit.

I hear ya Boss Man - I just can't separate the two when I have yogurt, especially tasty greek stuff :(

The sugar content in Yogurt is unbelievable - I think the sugar content in Blueberrie Greek is about 24g and plain is less than 10 g...HUGE difference - I refuse to eat Yogurt with that much sugar. I'm thinking of going back to the Dannon Light & Fit 4 oz cups, only 60 Calories (Half the amount of the Greek) and only 7g of sugar. You can buy them in bulk and save....only 3 g of protein, but I can get protein thru a shake.

Ciao!

I don't think that's available here - never heard of it. I just noticed the Vanilla Greek Yogurt has 16 g of sugar!! Ack!! Even plain has 6g but 15 g of protein....so, Light & Lively with 1/2 scoop of protein powder - that works for me! Of course I'll add the nuts, sunflower seeds and flax - fruit too, Sorry Boss Man! :)

must look up some recipes for the greek yoghurt based salad dressing...you've made me crave some for tomorrow lol! You seem to be doing great from what I've read (trying to catch up on everyone while I have some time!). Yes I do think about all the rubbish people eat (and how I USED to eat) and get frustrated looking at them! and I agree with the others - enjoy your cheat meal! Don't feel guilty over it! I do! lol. keep going missus - onwards and upwards! Noosk

So I checked bag of frozen berries....10g Sugar per cup. Is this better than getting the sugar that in the flavored greek yogurt, or is the sugar basically the same, are there some sugars that are more acceptable than others? Though, as Les says, sugar is sugar which totally makes sense, but berries must be better than a spoonful of white sugar. Even Orange juice has 22g of sugar.

The Sugar in yoghurts is likely to be Lactose with possibly added Sugar.

Fruit sugars are more natural and where as Lactose can cause issues for some, Fruit sugars shouldn't unless the person is Fructose intolerant. Lactose is a Di-saccharide though, Fructose a Monosaccharide, as it's just one molecule not two. Simple sugars like those, digest at around 30 calories per minute to bloodstream, complex 2 calories per minute to Bloodstream.

Hello all!

Survived EAster dinner....barely. Ate a little portion of everything offered. Everything tasted great and I enjoyed the day with family. I was so full, I wasn't hungry the rest of the day.

I have started out this week well on foods, but am still struggling with the proper balances of fat/protein/carbs. daily fat intake is still way too high - incredible! Little things really add up. And carbs are crazy low since I cut out bread, pasta, flour, oatmeal, etc.
Having real issues with energy levels, it is beginning to affect mental attitude towards workouts. It is hard to get myself motivated to workout, I am so low on energy. Plus, elbow injury in right arm is not any better, despite two weeks of scaled back...WAY back, weight workouts. It hurts to pull the passenger door shut, it hurts to pull myself up into friends pickup truck (using the little handle above the door), it hurts to carry groceries with that arm (right arm) any motion that involves lifting, or pulling with any resistance hurts really bad.
Ran 3 miles on Sunday - felt like I was dragging and weighed 500 lbs!! And this was before Easter dinner!! I don't know what to do anymore to fuel workouts. Sorry guys, I feel like i lost directions somewhere in the last 3 weeks. I read about no carbs except for after workouts, then I read don't eat carbs in the first few hours after a workout, so you won't be using that calorie burn for burning up the carbs you just ate. So that equated to me that basically - no carbs, period. Which, like Bonnie asked in her journal, what's a girl to eat before a workout so that you don't fall on your face for lack of energy?
calories are still technically too low, hovering around 1200 to 1700 a day, but not seeing much change yet - only 1lb loss and a little change in inches (mostly in places I don't want to lose!)
So, I'm sorry for seeming like I just can't quite get it...seems like I should know all of this by now...practically be an expert, but I have hit a rough spot and need a bit of help getting myself reorganized and refocused. I am using the diet tracker, and it has really made me more aware of what I eat, but also has shown a huge weakness in ability to balance out foods.
Anyway, today's planned workout is HIIT treadmill.
1:00/2:00 4 or 5 sets
ab wheel, planks
Any ideas about arm injury?

Hey Lynne! I don't have any advice about your arm injury but I had an elbow injury at the end of November from shoveling (the first snow of the season was 17 inches and I had waist high drifts in driveway - then at the bottom was worse where the plows came through the street. Needless to say, it hurt to do ANYTHING with that arm for six weeks, then I still continued to have problems with it here and there. It seems OK now, but all that helped me was to give it time and I iced it a lot. Good luck, they are definitely no fun!

To be you...lose 7 lbs. in 28 days would be AWESOME!!!

I am not looking right now to increase muscle, just lose some inches, reduce body size - lose fat.
I know I have alot of muscle, but I also have alot of fat sitting on top of it.
I want to be a faster runner, and weight is holding me back.

short term goal weight is a respectable 145. Basically 20 lbs. from where i am. Ultimately I would like to maintain a weight of between 135 and 140.

Take it easy with your elbow injury Lynne - listen to your body. I had appointment (follow up) with new Orthopedic Surgeon - good news, no surgery - but when I asked him about weights and what I should do or not - he pretty much said "Listen to your Body" if it hurts to do it, don't...or if it hurts that night, think twice about doing it again..maybe time to lower weights - That's what I need to continue to do too~!

Now I'm not authority on how to measure food and make sure you get the right %of protein, fats, carbs etc - but if I had to track it (I tried it~!) I probably would go WAY off track a some point because it's so difficult. I think repetition is the answer - find the right mix with foods you like ONCE and repeat - find 5 days worth of meals and you are golden! The other 2 days you can fill in ....put a calendar together with the meals and portions and follow it....if Mondays meals can't work for some reason, choose another day. :) Hope this helps!

Well, I was trying to define exactly what I am after. Alot of folks want to build muscle and lose fat, but for own personal experience and the way body works, I seem to build muscle faster than i am able to lose fat (I know that is probably arguable, but that is what I see when I Iook in the mirror) I see muscle development, but also see alot of fat still. So, after nearly a year of working on self, I am now at a point where I really just want to reduce body weight by losing fat. I also know that the answer mostly likely lies in diet - and that is where I have completely lost way.
