I personally think it's one of the best overall exercises. People were staying in shape by jumping rope long before fitness clubs and expensive machines.

I would suggest an elliptical trainer, a rowing machine or swimming.

What do you prefer for cardio exercise, ellipticals, or bikes (upright or recumbent). I think an elliptical may be more "fun". I'm also considering a Treadclimber.
