Just wanna get back into shape

Post by Mike66 »

Hey everyone, I'm new here.

I am 24 years old. I was a wrestler in high school and was in shape. I used to be ripped. I am 5'3" (yeup, I know I'm short, and I'm comfortable being short!). In high school I wrestled in the 119 weight class, but a comfortable weight for me was 125 - 130.

I tore bicep tendon wrestling which really prevented me from working out (even running due to the movement of your arms). It took the doc a year to me up and get shoulder repaired. I then spent two years as a missionary. I didn't have time to work out.

shoulder has healed, but has lost a lot of the muscle and the muscles that support it. Often when working out I will become strained in left shoulder so I stop as to not tear anything again. I am currently trying to rebuild shoulder so I can then get back to harder workouts.

I haven't been serious about working out until now. I'm just sick of having a gut! I miss abs! haha...

Anyway, I am a very very busy person. I own own Home Theater business that takes a lot of time - although business is slow with the economy, I picked up a second job. I go to school, and I have a social life - including a lot of dating. So working out is a very hard thing for me to accomodate.

Recently I have started to go to the gym as often as I can. I try to go right after work on Monday, Wed, and Fri. I try to do a full body workout. I also try to change up routine so body doesn't get in the habit of the same routine. On Tuesday and Thursday, I go to a hiking trail near home, and I go trail running on it.

I am taking Protein shakes, but only once a day. I know too much protein is bad, plus your body can't absorb too much protein and it turns to crap your body needs to burn. I take protein shake after each workout.

I have cleaned up diet quite a bit, but I am not super strict with diet. I am trying to eat more fruits, and better foods, but I don't have the money or time to go shopping for extreme health food.

I used to drink a lot of soda. I have cut out soda, except for diet soda, yeah it's not much better, but I try to drink as much or more water than soda...

I don't do drugs and I don't drink alcohol and I definitely don't smoke.

Here is starting pic. I took this last week. Please send me some advice! Thanks!

Too much Protein could cause Kidney stones. You really only need about 1.2g per lb of bodyweight. 1.5g at the very most.
