cardio and muscle gains

how much cardio will eat away at muscles ?

Too much.

Basically you only really need at most 2-3 sessions of Cardio for 30 minutes a time, doing things like Intervals, Sprints etc etc, to compliment the weight lifting.

I mix it up and have pretty good muscle tone. I do HIIT 3 days a week. I do speed walking the other 3 days. One full day off. Weight/strength training 3 days.
