Lower back pain(Sciatic nerve)

Post by queball »

I was wondering if it would be advisable for someone who had back surgery and current problems with the lower back to get on a workout routine that involved back exercises. Would working on the "pelvic tilt" and doing back exercises to strengthen the muscles in the back tend to hinder the back or be helpful. Any information would be appreciated.

you need to:

- activate glutes (go to referecnse section and read get your butt in gear")
- strengthen core / abs (reference section for "core training for smart folks" i think it is)
- pelvic tilts are fine and encoutraged but any good morning or stiff legged deadlift type exercises should be held off until later if at all
- also have a look at " no more neanderthal" in reference section and see if your posture needs work which will also help...that program addressess all of the above and more

I have sciatica too. Some exercises aggrivate it, so I have learned what to avoid. Exercise has never made mine better, but stretching does. I have a very strong core, but if I don't stretch a LOT it acts up.
