Hey,
I'm a 21 year old woman and I'm trying really hard to lose weight. I'm a full time med student and have finals coming up and since the nearest gym here is around a 30 minutes drive, it's impossible for me to go. Can you suggest any other activity that I can do as cardio everyday? P.S. The only equipment I have is a jump rope and ankle weights
Cardio at home??

Get a stationary bike. Buy it used and it won't cost you much.

Re: Cardio at home??
Shapefit has some great jump rope video workouts. This one is favorite:

Re: Cardio at home??
There are so many things you can do at home: Burpees, mountain climbers, star jumps etc. you could do circuits of these combined with push-ups/sit-ups or whatever you feel like. Here's an example circuit:doctor_t wrote:Hey,

Repeat 3 times:
2mins Burpees
2mins Mountain climbers
2mins Star jumps
2mins Push-ups
2mins sit-ups
You don't need any equipment for a good workout

Re: Cardio at home??
I think I'd do better with 1 min each exercise, repeat 6 times.
And I would probably combine the burpees with the pushups ( fav.) and replace the situps with front and side planks. But that's just me.
But TockyB is absolutely right - you don't need a bunch of home gym equipment or weights to get a good workout. You can search YouTube for all kinds of plyo & body weight workouts.

Re: Cardio at home??
The Plyo circuit listed above is good. I'd opt for perhaps a minute per exercise, if two minues is a bit much, or alternatively, make the first circuit 1 minute, the second 90 seconds then drop back to 1 minue on the last one, so you're not doing 3 identical circuits in a row, because the duration differs, so it may not feel too monotonous after a few weeks.

Thank You everyone for the replies
I'm definitely gonna give the plyometrics a try this week!
