Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Afternoon again ladies,
Yes Molasses, his visit did go very well so both of us are happy campers. Plus he has his tests to go get and lots of ones that his doctor was happy to be able to do now. They messed up his insurance last year and so he couldn't get the stuff done till it was fixed. We called and the gal said OMG at least 4 people dropped the ball on this....none of them followed through. She fixed it and so now he could get the tests done.
As you know by now with getting the grocery report....Thursday shopping went well.
Oh we have some nice zucchini here too Molasses. So sorry to hear about yours.
Chris, I see you are getting some very nice lunch time walks in. Yeah hot here too and we have humidity from the dew points being so high with all the freaking water stuff. Just glad I have a/c.
Oh sorry about the smaller zucchini ladies, if only I could send some to you both. I see the squirrels are nibbling on yours Chris. Yes Chris thanks it did go well.
I have not seen any of those movies. Oh I see you are have lovely temps where you are Bekah...enjoy. Yeah winter is more like fall here. Though some we've had have gotten like the "real thing" as we hit the 30s. However, normally 40s, 50s and 60s. Unfortunately rain and I hate the dampness goes right through me. Plus our heat doesn't work as well as a/c.
I see your mom's book is coming along....good luck and if I can help let me know.
I already told you I can't wait to see it.
Well I am off to comics and then off line for the day....have a nice evening and wonderful weekend.
Sue

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Happy Sunday, everyone! Hope you all are relaxing and enjoying a peaceful day.
In the past week, I've chipped three layers of tile off the bathroom floor (2 vinyl and 1 asbestos) so when the contractor comes on Friday, he'll have a flat surface to put the ceramic tile on. We went to Home Depot this morning and got a new toilet, ceiling fan/light, and sink faucet, along with the tile and grout. I think I'm going to scrub up the old sink (at first I didn't think DH was going to be able to get the faucet off of the sink, it was so rusted on, but he did) and reuse it, and just paint the formica counter rather than replace it, since the project is starting to get spendy, and it's not the only project we've got.
Our internet has been going out frustratingly frequently lately. Comcast techs were here on Wed., but the service was out again Sat. morning. DH managed to get it back on in the afternoon by disconnecting the cable in the basement and reconnecting it (after I tried resetting the modem and power-cycling the modem and router to no avail). If it happens again, I'm going to call for service again and suggest they re-do the wiring as well as replace the modem. We pay too much to go through all this monkey business a couple times a week.
Glad your shopping went well, Sue, as well as your hubby's dr visit. Hope he passes all his tests now, too! Good luck with your new plan that starts tomorrow!
So cool that your mom wrote a book, Bekah! I have heard from others, too, that Hidden Figures is really good. Someone recommended The Big Sick last week, too.
Sounds like your container garden is doing well, Chris! This is the first year I've barely had to water garden. We normally get a long drought in the summer and I fret about the well (thus the water barrel to collect rain off the roof) but this year we've had a ton of rain and we haven't watered in weeks. DH has been complaining about not getting a break from mowing! I put Ned on reserve at the library--it sounds like a cute movie, right up alley.
I have a lot I want to get done before Friday, including sanding and priming and painting the bathroom walls (the last time I used the crackle effect so I can't just throw on another coat of paint), so I'd better get moving here.
Wishing everyone a great week!

Hi All,
Hope your Monday is going well. We are off today. So I got a 30 minute walk in by myself and then DH and I went for a hike through the woods. Took us maybe an hour or so. So this afternoon is reading and practicing chanter. I told DH that I stayed away from playing chanter too long and get out of breath easier, so he made me do push ups. I did two. LOL
I also made him do them with me.
I will aim for 4 tomorrow.
Have a great day all.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Afternoon,
Molasses, had a wonderful "me day" Sunday. Yikes on all the tile work in the bathroom. I imagine the new ceramic tile will look very nice. I see you got a new toilet too, along with other bathroom stuff. Hope the sink stuff works so you can cut down on costs.
Oh what a pain on the interest issues. Comcast doesn't have the best rep here either. We called about our modem which was 10 years old and ATT sent us a new one gratis and we are very happy with it. We get our phone service from them and our internet assess and have been very happy. Whenever we have called, it has gotten fixed and for phone stuff, we have had to call on a couple of times....the next day a technician is out. I know a lot of people don't like them but we are pleased as punch.
Thanks Molasses, yes I hope his and test results (if primary wants me to get any...not sure) come out well.
Thanks on the plan and so far so good today with the morning workout. I have done the Lazy Gal one before; been in exercise folder for years now. I have a couple more by her too. Believe me Lazy does NOT apply to the workouts LOL
Not a clue about Hidden Figures or The Big Sick.
Good luck with the sanding and priming and painting of the bathroom, Molasses....wishing you a good week also....albeit a very busy one.
Will check the trailer late, Bekah.
Chris, nice to have the day off. Kudos on the 30 minute walk....plus I see DH and you went for a hike in the woods too....and for a good long time. So what ya reading? Wish I was there to hear you "chanter".
LOL about hubby and making you do push ups. I used to be able to do regular ones when I was younger and didn't have the "lung condition" I do now so today I can only do the knee ones
Good for you on building up slowly.
Well I am off to comics, and then off earlier today so we can watch the next Fast and Furious tonight. We are trying to get them all done before we buy the latest one that was in the theaters. Same goes for Guardians of the Galaxy....was sorry to hear about Chris Pratt and his wife separating.....so sad.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend and your Monday is going well.

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Hello all, Just stopping in to let you know I am still around and thinking of everyone.
Been really busy with hauling Grandson to work and this week we have to pick him up at Midnight. 3 nights but this should be the last week as school starts next week. His Mother had a knee replacement so she is unable to work and also to go anyplace for a while . She is doing so much better than the doctor expected . Had the surgery Friday and on Sunday she was already up to 90 percent . Any way over to her house to get the laundry caught up. Son is working 10 hours a day so he is pooped by the time he gets home but he is doing the cooking . (He always has) I am hoping to show her daughter how to do laundry but not expecting to much as she hasn't been taught to do anything So we shall see have that works out.
Sister in Law who just lost her Husband( hubby's brother ) has listed her house and is hoping to get back to Ohio at least by next summer if not sooner . They have a beautiful home in Kalkaska Michigan . She has sisters here and is coming home to be near them .
I am still going to the Y twice a week , I would like to go 3 days but there are no other classes that I am interested in.
Well just want to stop in and say Hi
Hope to try and read the posts later today . Hubby is going away for the evening so I will have some free time.

Happy Tuesday All!
I walked to work this morning (20 minutes). DH needed the car so I said no problem. feet are still a bother but I am still going. I rest when I think I should.
We have a showery day today so we will see what happens.
Hi Bama good to hear from you and all that is going on. Great job with the Y. Maybe there will be some more choices in the fall that you will like.
Hi Sue, I hope you had a good day yesterday. I am glad your workouts are going okay. son is loving the Fast and Furious series. He keeps borrowing them from the library. Hmmm.... that might be a good gift for him.
Hi to all and will check in later. TTFN!

Morning ladies,
Bama, glad to hear you are alright glad you are able to help out your grandson and his mom's knee replacement went so well. Had a friend it didn't and was a mess for a very long time. Wow what a difference Bama, as we all learned how to cook, clean, and all that fun stuff. Different world today. Though have to say that Chuck and I took turns with the cooking sometimes he did and sometimes I did and sometimes we shared as one took a shower while it was cooking came out took over the cooking and the other went in to take one. So we were showered after we ate so we could watch our shows. Yes even back then we loved our shows. Plus had good TV back then too. LOL
Sorry to hear about your SIL losing her husband.... condolences.
Glad you are enjoying the Y and glad you got to stop in as I was going to write to you today to see if all was well. I see hubby is going out tonight so you will have the house to yourself. Have fun.
Chris, I see you got to walk to work today. Sorry to hear you feet are still giving you trouble. Hope you can walk back in between showers.
Yes Chris, thanks I did have a good day yesterday and am enjoying both workouts. I see your son is a Fast and Furious fan also. Hey if it gets him to the library that's good and maybe he will get some books too sometime.
Wishing everyone a great day. We are only going to 97 today and our humidity is gone and we are back to our dry air....PTL

Hi All, another 30 minute walk for me and then the 20 minutes to get home again. Every little bit helps!
I am doing okay with watching what I am eating. I still need to tweak that a bit more.
Hi Sue!
Lucky you on the dry air!!
Enjoy it.

Hi Chris,
Great walks you got in today Chris. Kudos on watching what you are eating too. Yeah we are spoiled out here as up until this year we were very dry.....especially after we hit the high 90s and we got to 20% and the 100s and those 108s and more single digit humidity....now that's a dry heat LOL
However, we needed the rain and we got it this year by the buckets but we also have "humidity" this year which no one likes at all LOL
Chuck and I say this is why they "made a/c's" couldn't live here without them. Those who do you read about in emergency and worse.
Well just got our second WM order..... M&M snack packs and it did come in a box....however, the package is bigger than I thought so the box was good, plus a nice one we can keep.
Well off to the meds, etc stuff.
Hope everyone had a good day and the same for this evening,
Sue

Sue i saw your note on glenn campbell. I saw him in person in concert actually it was his last concert tour in 2010. I think i even talked about it on here at the time. mom wanted to go so i went with her and we got free tickets.
Good job on the walking Chris. feet burn sometimes too when i walk a lot. you could try a heat cream. I can't remember the name of the product i have. but i could check i got it from that alternative podiatrist i showed a video of plantar fascittis before. he recommends the oppostie i believe for plantar what regular doctors recommend. I don't really have much of it. just if i walk a lot on pavement.
Do you play pickle ball Bama? That is real popular at YMCA with the seniors. they do have a lot of senior classes. I wish mom could go. She still works at 70 and all the classes are in the morning.
Have a nice evening.

here's the video for his suggestion on heat cream chris.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7ic4gdZcgc
he recommends ice for relieving pain and heat for healing. But normal podiatrists i'm not sure what they recommend.
here is what he recommends for plantar fascitis.

Hi All,
No walking for me yesterday. I went to the dentist in the morning and had two top wisdom teeth extracted. All went well and I followed their recommendations to the letter. I am back at work today and do not have chipmunk cheeks due to swelling.
Of course there is some soreness but no horror stories here.
Thanks for the links Becky!
I checked them out and I am very interested. I am going to check to see if I can order a set of spacers. Maybe not right away but sometime soon. In the meantime I was wondering about the heat creams and thinking they might help me out. I may pop over to the pharmacy and look at what we have there.

Morning ladies,
Can't believe it's Friday already again.
Bekah glad you got to see Glenn Campbell in concert. I only saw his specials on TV.
Chris, sorry no walk and wisdom teeth instead. I had chipmunk checks and mine were impacted so I was "way under" and out of it...on the way home I saw "annimmmalls" on the side of the road. First 6 months Chuck and I were together. When I woke up I had Ben the Bear lying next to me.....hard to believe this September it will be 42 years for us and Ben. He still looks good, neck is a bit loose and Buddy nibbled on his neck tie LOL

Well on that note I am off to check mail, have breakfast and work out "guns" LOL boy don't I wish I had the muscled arms I used too....ah old age ain't it grand LOL
Have a great Friday and weekend everyone,
Sue

Re: Sisters in Sweat Journal (but all are welcome)
Happy Friday, everyone!
Glad your wisdom teeth came out easily, Chris. I was like Sue and was a total mess. All 4 were impacted and the oral surgeon nicked a blood vessel trying to dig one out. I spent the night in the hospital, vomiting blood. face was not only swollen, one side was black and blue. When I went back for post-surgical check, the doctor looked at me and said, "we should have had you come in the back door!" Now that would crack me up; at 17, I burst into tears!
Yay on doing two push-ups--that's not easy!
Ben is one nattily dressed bear, Sue! I was bummed to read about Anna Farris and Chris Pratt, too--they seemed like such a nice, down-to-earth couple. I'm sorry they couldn't make it work.
Interesting video, Bekah. I don't have bunions, but do get PF flare-ups sometimes; maybe I'll try sleeping with pedicure spacers, see how that works!
Nice that you got to see Glen Campbell. Another of friends saw him back in 1973, and she has been fond of him ever since--he posed for a picture with her so she posted it on FB the other day. I've heard Lion is good, too, but I haven't seen it. I rarely go to movies, but we do watch them on DVD once in a while (usually when there's no sports on!).
Good to see you, Bama! Your kids and grandkids are lucky to have you there to help. I have to admit, I would have a hard time with those hours--I've been asleep by 10 p.m. most nights the last few weeks, so I can get up by 5. Do you just do classes at the Y, or do you use their weight machines, etc., too?
We had the contractor in this morning and while he didn't get to everything on the list, he did replace the ceiling fixture, patch the peeling drywall seams, and get the ceramic tile laid down on the floor. I'll most likely grout the tile myself rather than have him come back, and DH can probably install the new toilet, but we'll see. Still lots to do in there (amazing amount of work given the small size of the room!), but I'm going to try to get part done in the next two weeks. I haven't even finished the walls--the removal of the old paint was quite a bit harder than I'd anticipated. I spent more than 6 hours scraping in there on Tues. and only got two walls done. Oh, well, onward and upward!
Comcast sent 3 technicians here on Wed., but they concluded the problem was out in the box on the pole across the street. Yesterday DH saw the truck out there working, so we had high hopes that the issue was fixed. I've had to reset the modem twice since then though, so I suspect I'll be calling for service again.
DH put Hillbilly Elegy by J. D. Vance on reserve at the library. I picked it up yesterday and was just looking at it this morning, thinking I'd just peruse the cover flaps. I started reading and had a hard time putting it down! I'm looking forward to getting back to it tonight.
Wishing everyone sweet dreams and a wonderful weekend!
