Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Used the roller on myself the other day, not sure if it helped much, although the IT band was really sore, and it seemed to make me limp less when i needed to walk.
Haven't done pulls for 2 days, will hopefully resume them today.
17 pull ups
3x12 BW Dips
5x5 40kg OHP - Bad sharp shoulder pain during these, should probably stop to be honest, although i feel i could of used more weight if it weren't for the pain, similar to dips.
Went for a jog, only lasted around 12mins, i can put the blame on a lot of reasons:
- Sleeping the night on the sofa
- Headache
- Full up from the BBQ previous to jogging
- Soar throat/suffering from hayfever
- Stich - during running
- Holding a bottle of water during running as i thought i may need - weather
- Too hot weather
But im not going to beat myself up about it because it's not entirely important to me, yeah i would of probably liked to go longer, but i didn't feel up to it today, i felt full up from the bbq, perhaps should of had some more carbs rather than the bulk from proteins/fats, but we'll leave it til another day.
Having said that, i would like to become a much stronger runner, no stiches during running, better at breathing, and not feeling like im about to die. The other day i did a bit of HIIT, 2mins run fast, 2mins walking, for 6 times, anyway, it didn't really seem as though i was running fast, but it was still killing me, but the more i do it, i believe the more i will get better, as with most things in life.
Roast dinner tomorrow aswell, perhaps will have to give the pull ups a miss again, due to being out, just the way it goes.
I'll have 2 physio sessions coming up soon which is good news and i hope to get some more detailed answers there, and i will definitely bring up shoulders issue.
The pain in low back and tailbone seems to be when im not breathing through abs, which has been occuring today, without me realizing, i still need to work on this as it seems when im aware that im breathing through abs i don't notice the pain, really need some better results from this. Especially in activities where im not focusing on it, simply because i can't, running for an example.
I will try to use foam roller more often aswell, the IT band seems to be the only real spot im having problems with, which is good, and i'll always keep the roller for future use, perhaps the it band is helping issue, today i noticed that i didn't have to limp anywhere near as much to walk, either way it'll be a benefit to roll the band so i'll have to push myself to do that.
Just wanted to update this, thanks.

Fucking Insomnia! Ughhh, i don't understand it, ive been sleeping not too bad as of late, and now out of the blue i get this, i went to sleep at about 10 30, as i was tired and the itchy eyes from the hayfever made me feel extra tired. Couldn't sleep and it was 2 30, so had already been trying for 4 hours, decided to try and sleep downstairs, went off for about an hour til damn dog woke me up snoring lol. Went back to sleep for about half hr, then went upstairs for around 3hours, so all in all probably had just over 4hours but it's not constant and i feel so tired. If i were to workout today or anything like that, it would have to be a miss, it's already messing up plans for today as i feel like doing absolutely nothing, so it spoils the day.
I don't see how this just came out of the blue, it was hot last night, in a loft room, yes, but i had just bought a good fan that day so that wasn't the problem.

Did 3 laps of the park, wasn't going to do any exercise due to being tired, but in the end it was easy, just had a bit of a stitch around ribcage at side and what felt like a stitch in medial delt of right arm, god damn.
Run itself was good though.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Ok, had a kinda back workout today, pretty well, here's how it went:
GTG pull ups this morning - 17
Then just did:
Deadlifts 60kg 4x7 - Nothing too hard, pretty easy, may have a heavy session later in the week.
Bent over rows 40kg - 4x8 - First time doing these really, took some trying out to get used to having back horizontal and not rounded, think they went ok though, hamstrings had to really work hard to stabilize body.
DB Shrugs 20kg x2 - 3x10 - Seemed to have a limited ROM, could be due to some of the troubles ive been having with shoulders, or slightly too much weight, guess is a bit of both.
I also did 5mins of skipping prior to working out, just to help warm up body, although it didn't go too great as co-ordination sucked as it's been a while, plus shoulders were giving in, but all in all went pretty well id say. I decided to do deadlifts as i was only sitting here and i felt some boney pain in tailbone, so thought id do some exercise, then happened to do bent over rows for a change aswell. Got to be careful not too over do it, as im doing pull ups everyday, so i'll just do these back exercises occasionaly.
The breathing through abs has helped a bit when im aware im doing it, but i don't think it's the direct solution to problem, plus with a lot of lifts, it's a benefit to hold breath, or use the vanuselsa manueva to increase abdominal pressure to support low back, (deadlifts, squats,) etc, so this could get me used to having abs tense which was causing the pain?
Also the kettlebell i had lying around (16kg), which i found over a forest long ago, did some swings with it, felt easy, and i enjoyed it, may try incoporating some kettlebell training into a routine when im 100% functional, if it benefits me at all.
Low back a little fatigued, but that's to be expected
Anything you guys want to say or suggest, whichever, please feel free to, thanks.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Without taking much focus + concern off of original posts, i would like to talk about life and get some advise as i keep hearing it from mother.
Basically, im 19, as soon as i left school i went to college, got on a course i disliked, switch to electrical (mates at the time were onit), but i hated it yet i stuck it through til the end of the year. Then the nxt year came, level 2. parents were like "just see it through" and encouraged me to continue the course, so i did, borrowed a previous mates assignment and scrapped through the year, still no real interest in the course or profession. I then went onto the 3rd yr which is 1 day a week, next year you would of had to pay for the course if didn't start it in sep last year - £1500. I was struggling on the course which is nearly finished, it was the day of 1 of many exams, and i was ill. Vomitting and diarhea, although i got dressed and tried to force myself 2 college but i was throwing up before i could even leave. The tutors advised me to rest and leave it. But i was real unsure of the test, and a teacher from a different class (we have 2 tutors), offered to go over the exam in his morning session, so there was some hope, if i didn't of missed the date, you have to work in pairs also which made things that much more complicated. It was all getting too much and i decided to give up on college, if i ever tried to revise, id put the book down in 5-10mins, even some previous work experience i had with the job, seriously could not stand, i hated it, and was often looking at the time to speed up til the end of the day. So now i have missed a good month, and im having some withdrawl symptoms (doesn't help with mother saying, just see it through, give it a try), i have no motivation to go back, im so far behind that it would litreally take a miracle to pass, if it's even possible to catch up now, plus i don't even like the profession, i wish i did, but i suck at it, and it's not something for me.
So now the dilema of college in the morning but i can't go back now, nor do i have any desire to do so, but im lost with what i want to do 4 life, i quite like physiotherapy - a lot, but i have no A-levels, nor can i see myself going to Uni, all in all adds up to a good 6-7 years, which makes me 25-26, so im really lost and worried about future.
Can you say a bum?

You will figure it out. It's really really hard to decide on stuff like that. I don't know much about University and schooling in the UK though so I'm not much help in that sense on what you should do.
Personally i think people should wait to go to college or decide on a profession anyways. Not a lot of people know for sure what it is that they want to do at your age.
All i know is only you can make the decision and know what is best for you!
Just so you know too, there isin't a deadline on figuring out your profession. And it is not only okay but normal to change your mind. Many people switch careers over time. Good Luck! No worries!
Re: Fat Around Button Area?
I did that.
Started doing a course that was adivsed to me, it was a joke and badly run, so I just went to college in the second year and did little of the work. I was miles behind and lost interest in it. The course was being scrapped, hence the slipshod running and implementation of it. I stayed on for more qualifications after year two and got them.
However due to past grades with G.C.S.E's, ( fault because I had a laxe attitude to exam prep and didn't do as well as hoped), I was told I had to do a seperate course along with the G.C.S.E's, which I did but didn't like and sagged it off at Easter. I didn't like how some staff were acting on the course, being a bit critical sometimes, not explaining things properly and I didn't like the course and it was causing me issues with prep for exams, not to mention I'd done one module and partially completed the rest.
I just didn't tell the admissions guy I'd sagged it off.
I still got qualifications, so it was fine in the end. I'm not going to discuss personal circumstances or past, as it's not relevant how successful or not I am, as this is about your future not mine.
The point being is, don't continue to do something that causes you stress, you don't like and you don't have to do. Do something you will like better and study that.
Why not do a G.C.S.E in P.E? That way you might get allowed to go to a gym and work while you study for a Gym instructors course. Alternatively do the Gym instructors course and get tuition free for 16-24 year olds.
You have things like that you can do. Enquire about subsidsed learning for things like an ECDL, or an NVQ in something you want to do, or maybe an LMA or GNVQ.
Don't give your life away to something that you hate and don't enjoy, if it's not worth it. Other options will work for you if you make the right choices

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
BM, thank you! Someone that understands, it feels great knowing i have a second opinion to rely on, im afraid if i were to bring it up with parents, they would be telling me what i don't want to hear, that career path just isn't for me, the thing that made it worse was that they said oh you didn't have long left, perhaps 6-7 weeks, but it's not a case of just sitting there and getting through it, i was behind, and all of them weeks were exams which i would of really struggled with, so leaving it til not long ago to leave wasn't the best of ideas and makes them think "you should of just finished it", but the only reason i was seeing it through til then was because it was simply 1 day a week so not like it was a weekly thing,
I have some GCSE's, IT, Business which i enjoyed and got a B in, Both english Lang and litreature - C, and 1 of the Science's C.
Although they're not great, im not stupid by no means, the thing is, when i had the lipsuction operation it really messed up schooling, i missed a lot of time off of school and inevitably P.E. I had to really catch up just to get the grades i did, and business i managed to even work higher to what was expected. I just found it easy as the course was easy, just had to pretty much type stuff up which was easy to find out.
A GCSE in p.e sounds good, younger brother when he finishes sixth form, is looking to be a P.E teacher, i had once thought about it, but im not entirely sure, dad says you should work in a gym or something like that as your really into it, which i am, but that's not to say id like to be a personal trainer or working in a gym, something sort of fitness/health related should be ideal as im more into that then i am say engineering.
I have little knowledge about qualifications, i have 2 nvqs - i think from the electricians course from the 2 years i did complete. But not sure how valued they are, neither heard of an ECDL or LMA - lol.
The ultimate path is to choose something i enjoy which im not going to hate getting up for and something which doesn't seem like work, it's easy for parents to say become a lawyer and that sort of thing, why do something you hate doing everyday just for money?
P.S seems i have good days and bad days with the "low back pain", it's not even back really, which is good, but i feel it around pelvis and tailbone, for instance today, all ive done so far is walk for almost an hour, not even sat down really yet, and already having some pain, i really think it's going to take a miracle to identify the cause.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Looks like i have poor shoulder flexibility, according to this test:
http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/fitn ... erFlex.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Hopefully this explains the pain and lack of mobility!
Going to stretch out the shoulders more often, and then re-try the test in the near future, here are a couple of stretches i have found so far to help improve:

Dang, guess i was wrong, tried the stretch test again and could interlace fingers easily - excellent flexibility it says, weird, gotta be another cause

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Today:
17 ham grip pull ups
DB Floor press 22kg x2 4x10
BW dips, 12,10,8
The dips were affected by the floor press prior to doing them, was orginally hoping to go heavy and try 28kg or 30kg if bars included for 5x5, but felt it was too difficult to self spot at this time, something i plan to do in future.
Tried db flies but just can't get the feel right to them, a reason why i never do them, feel too much strain in shoulders and bicep tendon, perhaps cable flys in the future will work, if i can have an appropriate place to workout in.
Training to failure isn't something im after, especially on certain exercises like dips it can be dangerous, been getting majority of chest work from benching and dips, but hopefully in the future more options will be easily accessible.
I kind of wish i didn't have this body, in a sense that if i were 100% functional id be able to put in a hell of a lot more effort to get to where i want to be, but then again, things could be worse, luck of the draw.
Going to go for a run tomorrow evening and check out a new local gym that has opened, sounds pretty good, although if i did join it would probably only be for a few months as a temporary thing - just until the shed in the garden is being built, once the concrete floor is done, then it'll be pretty much useable, at the moment it's hassle getting all the equipment out and putting it back into a limited space.
Although ive got to weigh out if it's worth joining a gym as im limited to what i can do atm as it's mostly upper body work, with the exception of deadlifts, but hopefully some squatting very sooooon! Lets hope.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Training to failure isn't necessary anyway. If you train to about 90-95% of failure on an exercise, that's okay, because you'll only be within around 1-2 reps from failure anyway, so you wouldn't be underworking any muscles really.

Yeah i prefer not training to failure, as an example finishing 3x12 BW dips where almost hitting failure, compared to yesterdays bw dips - 12,10,8 - don't like this way of training personally.Boss Man wrote:Training to failure isn't necessary anyway. Re: Fat Around Button Area?
Went for a run, was much easier than before, some stiches on right side and some tension in shoulder but the run went well, post workout nutrition - a easter egg was found, had half a choc shel - 265 cals, although it wasn't even that "nice", along with a bowl of fruit + nut muesli
Will have a cold shower to drain legs when i can eventually get in there!!
Is this a good idea? Had it warm and then cold to spray on ankles up to knees and calves, it;#s more do-able than a cold bath is, although after getting out of the cold shower knees/legs feel more prone to injury than before, of course working out a cold muscle is more likely to be injured, but im not going to workout after having a cold shower.

Re: Fat Around Button Area?
So you had a warm / hot shower, then you cold showered your lower body is that what you're intimating, or are you asking if that's good for when you next shower?
I'm thinking you mean the former in which case, I don't really think showering the sore areas with cold or Warm water would make any significant difference in potential medicinal affect, though I can't be sure on this, as I've never seen any medical evidence on such an issue.
The only downside with showering as opposed to bathing, is showering is not as good for the circulation, because you're weight bearing on the Knees, though some dislike the idea of bathing in what would be bits of old dirt and skin eventually, but when I've been able to do it in the past I find it's better as showering can cause a greater risk of spray and getting water everywhere, because the water falls down and bounces off the body.
